💕🎀 Actually Using the Gothic and Lolita Bible Sewing Patterns 🎀💕

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I've been wanting to sew the shorts in this edition of the Gothic and Lolita Bible ever since I first discovered the publication in high school. The issue I'm using today is volume 3 from the English-language releases. I feel like most people understand that the GLBs came with sewing patterns, but I see so few examples of clothing made with them! These are intended to make ouji style knee-length shorts - although with all the alterations I made, my pair is feeling decidedly early 2000s Hot Topic Emo (this is not a bad thing). I especially love the suspender and zipper details, which remind me of the Tripp pants I was also obsessed with in high school. Overall, this project was incredibly nostalgic for me!

rolls of cheap baking paper are a great alternative for tracing paper (the more expensive stuff tends to have a surface that doesn't take ink and pencil well)

Wow, they turned out incredible! That plaid is the perfect fabric for them. I'd love to try my hand at making something like these myself someday. Also, thank you for the idea of cleaning sewing machines with a brush. I've never seen that done before, but it makes so much sense. I guess I'm off to clean my sewing machine now!

Man, this makes me want to try sewing again... I'm not confident about being able to make pants work out well, but I might be able to work on something simpler and smaller to get comfortable for now. Thanks for being such a sewing inspiration! 🪡

These came out great and gave me major nostalgia. I have about 12 GLB in my book case and I made a bag, Gothic & Lolita Headband....and something else from them. I am no sewer, but despite being in Japanese - could successfully follow the patterns. I miss those days. Ugh, now I'm going to scour the web for some old GL Bibles lol.

Those pants flatter you so nicely. You did a great job! I wish I could wear high waisted pants, but they don't flatter my long butt and hip dips. (I love my figure, high waisted pants just don't flatter it and those are what's in right now and all you can find anywhere. Which is great! They look amazing on most people, just not me.)

So way back in the day when the English GLBs were being released, I actually used one of the patterns to make my first lolita outfit. I can't say dress because my sister split it between a top and a skirt since she was the one doing the sewing and it was easier for her. It was 2008 and all I will say is that it involved purple and black crushed velvet, and yes, it was as tragic as you are picturing. I almost got into the 5th issue of the series before it got canned after the fourth one (thank god I was saved from having that published), but at least I got a free atelier headpiece. I'd love to see you try and do that pattern justice, it was in issue one or two of the magazine, all I remember is that the model wearing it was in black and yellow.
