When he looks back towards the battle at 13:30 you can see the plane just to the right of B's smoke cloud. The next jump though when he's looking down at the forest I have no idea where it might be. With KZread's compression and a green plane on green background... it may not be visible

I mean, the problem with that its a great carrier plane, but in War Thunder you're also facing land-based fighters, which are just superior in almost every way compared to naval aircrafts.

My War Thunder experience when having a full SPAA lineup.... "Yepp, not a single plane in the air. And the team are getting slaughtered like pigs. Again."

My problem with the film is what it gets the most credit for...historical accuracy. It's a fun film to watch, but it mangles the history worse than Pearl Harbor, which is quite an achievement.

@@Ocrilat I think you can only enjoy fhis movie if you're american. I watched the first hour and the got so furious, that I just had to walk out. I mean its not a bad movie, but the only things that would have made it more clear, that this is an americqn movie would be anevil german scientist named Hans and a russian mercenary named Dimitry.

Back in high school, an old counselor shared with me he was a rear gunner in a SBD... Wow!!! what a pair of "stones" that guy had!! Unbelievable Greatest Generation!! Thank you

The greatest man I’ve ever know was a rear gunner on an SBD as well. The man lied about his age to join the war effort and he taught me a lot of what it means to be a man.

From the divebombing tutorial from 1942: The Pacific Air War (effing amazing game that got me hooked on naval aviation back in the day, now available on Steam) the recommended method is: Be over target at 3000m or higher Roll inverted Apply airbrake and 100% throttle Pull back on stick to enter a 70ish degree dive Play chicken with the deck, release bomb at around 1000m and pull out of dive Scratch one flattop!

@@skyscall remember, real dive bombing was done more than just 4 miles from another enemy fleet, easily 10 -15 miles, so climbing to 13k feet wasn't uncommon and higher was easily feasible

Midway is the greatest movie I’ve seen in awhile

I loved Midway because it helped with SBD representation. Everyone forgets the workhorse of the Pacific Theater.

Dauntlesses were capable of 12 to 14 G pull outs. So it was entirely up to what the pilot could handle for those few seconds as to how hard a Dauntless could pull. I know exactly what part of the movie ur talking about, but i fo think its possible. The pilot just had to be really capable when it came to staying conscious

Naval War!!!!

Dauntless is my favorite airplane from WWII because my grandfather was a rear gunner in one in WWII and some of the stories he's told me about making dive runs really puts him back in the mentality of that time and it's so cool hearing him talk about it.

Love your intros Phly! great stuff!

Take out the French panther, but you can only drive it in reverse ;)

The RB ticket bleed is outrageous... When a team owns 2 caps....damn! The match is over in a couple of minutes. No strategy. No tactics. I don't want them to be over 20 min, but maybe a little over 12-15 min would be ok.

I remember using the SBD alot when I first started playing, was one of my favorite planes to use.

I was station at NAS Pensacola for 3 years while in the Navy. At the National Naval Air Museum they have a plane on display that not only is it the only surviving Battle of Midway plane any where in the world, but it was a Pearl Harbor survivor also. The plane is an SBD dive bomber and not only looks great but has an interesting spot it was pull out of the water.

I must say I also bought the movie and loved it! Good job in your efforts to simulate the actual technique specifically aligned with the dauntless dive bomber..i enjoyed the video.

I really liked the montage and the music at the beginning. :)

@@5678sothourn Arcade is alright, damage models and spawn systems aren't as drastically different. RB is almost always partially full of bots in matches, and the spotting system is kinda wack. If you're in a PT boat you just become fodder for the players too. Pretty fun tho

Who else cringes very hard when they see -2 g’s and have actually experienced negative 2 g’s..

I love playing this thing in naval AB, it's actually good as a fighter low tier vs biplanes and bombers.

I love the SBD-3 with the gun pods. It’s good for defending bases from bombers and with low tier ship you can kill almost every boat

Hey Phly, I have an aced out Il-2 Avenger. When I have an enemy on my tail, I go so low that that the virtual instructor helps me keep the wings level as I rudder the tail out of the way for the gunner. It works really well.

SBD was one of the first planes I seriously played a lot. Love that thing, especially the airbrakes

Midway was fun really i watched it to. and the thing that was unreal was when the B25 Mitchells took of from something slightly bigger than a Bouge class escort carrier. Little spolier.

i wont even lie the most satisfying thing in this entire game is that red and white text saying "target destroyed"

if you liked the SBD youll LOVE the Sb2C-4 or Sb2C-5 (french) Helldiver. Awesome bomb load, 20mm cannons, and low wings loading letting it turn on a dime, you can get bombs off and really surprised attacking enemy fighters and blow them out o the sky with your 20's

Pretty unique flap/brake arrangement on the SBD. Classic warbird.

that IL2 was very smart! blended in really well with the forest flying that low

The SPD-3 with the MG attachment, on Naval RB does really, really goodly. Fly low to the surface as soon as you spawn, stay as close to the water as you can, flank around the side of the map to attack hostile from the side or the rear. Aim for their hull, don’t worry about the crew members. Equip ground target & AP rounds for your guns, and it makes it even better.

I love the sbd, people go heads up with it hoping for an easy kill and with a little prefiring you can get an easy pilot snipe or a fire

This is my favorite WWII plane. Outdated when the war started, still went on to be the most effective dive bomber.

Dive bombing properly in a Ju87 is one of my favorite war thunder past times, it’s a ton of fun on ships as well, especially because it makes that sound that makes players panic, which is what you should do with this against cruisers

I've been using the SBD in naval battles. Works well, perfect aircraft to use against subchasers and destroyers, and still decent enough in air to air to cover your allies.

My Dad was a gunner in the SB2C Helldiver in Japan so Im bias to that obviously but good job, perfectly executed dives.

The SBD dauntless, when I use it in realstic mode the most useful thing about it is the back gunner and the airbrakes.

I can’t get enough of PhlyDaily’s energy/sarcastic energy. Makes me die laughing every time. 🤣😂

I love the SBD-3, easily my most used plane. I actually quite like the 1000kg bomb though I'm still reasonably early in the tech trees so im not sure how other ones go. But it's a nice aircraft for the naval battles aswell and more realistic if your into that as it's a naval plane.

I started to play wt with the SBD then I started to really feel something special for naval fighters

Great video! I found Ground Rb is the more realistic setting to play with planes then Air Rb. In Air RB, the first 5 minutes determine the outcome of the match most of the time. And there is no point in playing bombers. In ground,you get the feeling that you are doing something in a bomber. Love the Dauntless. But you got to get in as fast as you can, drop the bombs and don't hang around. Go rearm and repeat.

This is great. I used to dive bomb in vr from the cockpit all the time. I highly recommend it.

My Grandfather was a rear gunner/Radioman in a SBD during WW2 in the pacific as a side note he earned 2 DFC's (Distinguished Flying Cross) not something they handed out all willy nilly

I recently started playing ships in WT. Never had luck with this plane, but MAN O MAN, it is OP at low tier ships.

Hey philly, The SBD 3 Dauntless used their flaps only at takeoff. To Land they extended their airbrake (flaps and top gear).

I really want to see you Phly do something like Dunkirk but a full scale midway.
