Never played it but my favourite part is how the crew actually sounds scared shitless when things heat up. I have not seen that in any other game.

Fun Fact: GHPC's T-72 autoloaders are modeled to how it would work IRL, the round travels through the whole system into the breech. Hypothetically if you shot at the right time, you could miss the ammo through a missing round in the autoloader.

@@rowbotia For some reason indeed, considering it's pretty much the main factor at play while incapacitating/killing the crew. If that was not the case, you'd be forced to figure out the exact crew or the propellant locations.

@@rowbotia Happens to me as well. Apart from the WT and the "daily" parts.

One of the things I like about this game is the commander. Most games you play as a 1 man tank and as such, you are responsible for scanning for targets. Having an AI commander searching for targets is very nice and definitely improves situational awareness, although occasionally the commander will be like a dog and see things that I don’t, even with Thermals on.

Yeah I've noticed they can sometimes see tanks behind a ridgeline or building just because an invisible part of the tank's hitbox is sticking out. Other than that, it's really useful just for gameplay.

True, sometime they see behind trees and hills However sometimes commaders actually sees things because his cupola is located higher than gunner sight, so in that case gunner jusr says obstructed

I used to be a gunner for a leopard 2A6 it was awesome but I think one of the most scariest thing that happened to me whilst being a gunner was around flying right back into the Hall of the tank from the gun breach we don't know what happened but the round didn't go out the barrel and decided to come right back into our tank and it was a heat round so needless to say it was quite the experience

Sounds like a stuck round, maybe an early sabot discard. But either way probably faulty ammo. It's the only thing I could think of that'd cause that. Scary seeing it happen tho!

@@PanzerPaw LOL true we eventually stopped using the tank when it randomly caught fire leading to the ammunition to cook off other than that the tank never got destroyed from that happening we don't know what caused the fire or where the fire was we were kind of on our own all we knew was Smoke started gathering in the hall and we kind of just ran the opposite direction so even if it's still did work I'm pretty sure we wouldn't be using it after that cuz that tank was a death trap

​@@HypnobongI mean it's quite the experience being inside a tank, but really the only failures you'll have is either the gun not deciding to fire or an engine, breaking down or having your optics not cooperate with you. Other than that it's claustrophobic but also kind of nice being inside of a tank so all depends on your preference

I am having a blast with this game. Interestingly, one of my favourite missions is the one you played but from the red team. Using T-55As to knock out M-60s is insanely hard work. And you have to rangefind manually. Sadly coincidence rangefinders not implemented yet. It is quite interesting as the 100mm apfsds is not useless if you hit the hull of the M60 but your target acquisition is much slower and harder. And despite HEAT being far better, apfsds is much more forgiving for range estimations and you can more easily get shots on target with it. If you get hit by 105, chances of surviving are pretty small. Your turret and hull can stop some hits from certain angles but you can't rely on it. Nit in the same way the M60 can. Overall, great game with the potencial to be an accessible sim.

Yeah I tried one of the new missions (can't remember the name now) but you're red forces made of 4 platoons of T-55s fighting a Blue M60 platoon+. Pretty fun and totally different to playing the M60s. I just miss the crew voices haha. Hope red force gets voices soon

the M60A1 actually does have a coincidence rangefinder that works; the T55A just doesn’t have a coincidence rangefinder. Each tank having its own distinctive FCS that you have to learn and can get better at is so incredibly satisfying.

@@PureFalcon1 yes. I was mistaken. The coincidence rangefinder on the M60A1 is a blast to use. The T-55A has only a stadiometer which is insane for the 80s.

@@Heldermaior As the GHPC gunnery guide says, the T55A is basically a WW2 era tank. The first T54 prototypes were completed before the end of WW2, after all! I assume they’ll eventually add the upgraded T-55AM, though, which has a laser rangefinder, gun-launched ATGM’s, and some other goodies, though.

I was a tank commander on the M60A1 and M60A3 tanks in the American Army...I was with the Big Red One...

Steel Beasts Pro PE is from an actual Army armor training kit. GHPC is an ambitious second place, but probably more affordable at least.

The AAR is amazing, and it allows you to see exactly what happened as you hit enemy units. My second favorite feature behind the crew voices.

Great summation. I have no idea how real it is but bought it on a hunch as it looked good and am absolutely enjoying it.

There is a mission in the Instant Action menus called Long Road (I think) where you have to drive a few km along a road, taking out threats along the way. It's really difficult. Basically trying to survive ambush after ambush, but it's fun to trial and error your way through it. I still haven't made it past 5 or 6 waypoints.

I tried this one as a trainer and got obliterated. Wrong mission to choose. I went up the left flank after the BRDMs and ended up popping out of the woods right in front of a pair of t72s. Boom.

6:30 "... reports are 100% accurate" im assuming the slightly panicked screaming is also accurate? lol

As someone whose only experience with tanks is games it's interesting how the real principles of armoured combat are different. Accuracy and shot placement seem alot more important that just wailing on it over and over till the armour is compromised.

It's super awesome, soeciallz when the enemies get close and your crew slowly starts to panic

It's nice to see that the damage is well modelized with the turrent of the T55 flying into the air when you make the ammunition rack blow...

M60s also lose their turrets the similar way in GHPC. More importantly, try to shoot the back of an M1 turret and you'll most likely see what's it all about the blowout panels.

@@nimatari4783 Steel Beasts was a go-to for a long time, but I think GHPC is going to overtake that fast. When it comes to multiplayer I play a fair bit of War Thunder ground forces. That said, War Thunder is a mixed bag as, even in simulator modes, there's not a lot of realism to be had but enough to make it fun. Worth a mention that progress in War Thunder can take ages so be warned if you don't already play.

I’m a tanker rn, got back from eastern Europe a few months ago and ran into some of you boys. Tank is tank no matter the platform we talked about. And it was nice to talk to someone who spoke English.

The leopard 2 is my absolute favorite tank. Its neat how i discovered a former commander for such tank!

I think the most realistic tank sim is a simulator itself like Steel Beasts. But still, GHPC is pretty neat

SB is definitely very good. GHPC is just a nice combination of that level of realism with accessible game controls. Hence I think most people will enjoy GHPC a bit more.

Just because it's hard doesn't mean it's realistic. You'd be surprised at the level of automation in a tank. Tankers aren't all that smart to begin with.

I've tried steel beasts for a month and couldn't get into it. The best tank experience I've had is with steel armor: blaze of war. Very realistic and with fully modeled interiors and animated crew, the immersion is second to none

It can be almost as quick on a military vessel.

I don't know about anyone else but when I hear the gunner scream "up" I think of the gunner just stomping like a old ww2 Firing system and it Makes me think about a frantic struggle of a tank in a overwhelming attack

Just to clarify, it's the loader who calls "up". That's to report the gun is loaded and ready to fire. Then the gunner calls "on the way" to report that they're firing.

If you look for a really good and detailed tank sim you should give a try for IL-2 Sturmovik Tank Crew. Ok, the vehicles are coming from the WW2 era as the battlefields as well but you can drive and control a tank from the different stations inside it.

I love the crew screaming at each other at voice cracking levels,,its hilarious😂😂😂

Yeah I’ve been having a great time with it since I bought it last week 👍🏻 I’d highly recommend it.

Love the video and i'm definitely getting this game! Can you do a video on Post Scriptum's armor gameplay next, please? That game needs more love it is criminally underrated.

I started with the M60 A3 and finished out my service with the M1 IP. Ft. Stewart, Georgia, 4/64 Armor

I'd love to see you play in a tank in Hell Let Loose. You get the ability to command a gunner and a driver in the tank. Pretty fun stuff.

@@singleproppilot If you want really accurate to the point of outright needing the bloody manual, there's IL-2 Great Battles Tank Crew for WWII eastern front tanks and AA.

Having blast tank crew on HLL. Its awesome. Maybe i need to try this one

@@PanzerPaw There is actually a co-op multiplayer planned for the game, you can find their most impactful plans for the game by going to steam and looking up their road map or by Joining their discord server.

This is the only game that can double as a horror movie and an fps

Thinking of getting this just to learn how to use tanks properly in Hell Let Loose and Squad.

If you’re turret is as slow as the M10’s a horizontal stabilizer wouldn’t do you much good anyway haha. Not to mention, I think it was that slow because it was manually operated, in which case you’re probably not going to have a stabilizer anyway.

SB is a good simulator. But it's not easy to use for most players. Even in training, we mainly used SB for the 3D models of enemy vehicles for study. Target recognition classes and that sort of thing. Rarely to actually simulate tank missions.

Last time I tried Steel Beasts was back in 2009 and it's definitely very good. Modeled interiors was a nice plus point. But GHPC nails that nice medium between being accessible but still having a realistic feel. All I can say is it's close enough to the real thing that most people would want to play :) But yes, there's more hardcore sims out there for sure

If it stops moving and the turret movement stops or if it explodes/catches fire. Also as seen in Ukrainian war combat footage, crew tends to quickly exit the tank if the tanks get penetrated.

The big explosion and fire is usually a good indicator haha. But we continue to observe the effects of the impact and be ready to re-engage the target. Usually crews bail out of the tank if it's knocked out. But also watching for things such as track or turret movement. There's also the quick BDA (Battle Damage Assessment) where you call if a target is Total Kill (T-Kill), Mobility Kill (M-Kill, vehicle unable to move), Firepower Kill (F-Kill, vehicle unable to fire). That'll be based on certain target effects, e.g. tracks/suspension destroyed, turret detached, barrel broken, etc. Also gun barrels can sometimes slam down to minimum depression if the vertical drive and related components are destroyed. Lots of little things can help you assess it and accurate assessment and recognition is a part of training too. Get to know the enemy tank, you'll know how to take it out. And in doing so, you learn how to know if it's out of the fight too. Hope this helped! :)

Yeah I wasn't sure which key was mapped for that at the time. Pretty cool that it simulates lead calculation but can also throw shots way off if you don't know it's doing it at the time haha

I'd really appreciate an IL2 style of tank interior instead of going straight from commander over tank to sight. It takes a bit of 'presence' out of the game. Like I am supposed to be inside the tank but it never feels like I am inside the tank. Just eyes that can change position.

True. It'd be nice to see a switch from "Commander out of the hatch" view to "zooming in with binos" to going inside and switching to commander's sights. But switching to gunner sights would still be the instant switch since you're literally switching crew members. Hard to say if that would still break the immersion a bit.

i believe modeled interiors are planned, the devs are just really focused on implementing all of the important basic systems before they really start to polish the game up
