Another suggestion, a radial arm saw is a great addition to the shop instead of a miter saw. It does everything a compound miter saw does and you can cut much wider boards with it. You can get it dialed in & very accurate. I keep a dado stack on mine for the most part since I am making a lot with dados and rabbits for cabinets and book cases. When I need a lot of demons I use it too. I have even ripped longboards on it. They are safe if you use common sense and the best part, they are cheap and plentiful on the secondary market. The one I have was my grampa's. A 1950s Dewalt 10" in prestine condition. He had been using it right up until he died at 93. There no electronics to die on you, very easy to service. I did put new bearing on it and a new Diablo blade. He still had brand new blades in original packaging and the accessories it came with it when he bought it brand new I found in a cabinet in his shop. He got me into woodworking and when I turned 10 he put the first handplane I used into my hands. He even taught me how to sharpen the blade on it. I sure do miss him. Talented carver and cabinet maker.

Is that a 14" bandsaw? What is the hp of the motor? I have an old reliant 14" bandsaw and would like to put in a motor with more horsepower if it will work so I can read hardwoods. I recently was given some maple and black walnut logs I would like to mill into boards and cut in half for hand-carved bowls. Nice a size shop and it looks like you left enough floor room for assembly too. I have a 16' x 10' shed I converted into a shop by insulating and running 200 amp service out to it. About a year later I wished I had gone with a wider building, so this summer I am putting on a 6' addition onto the back as well as an outside closet for my dust collector. My compressor could go out there too but it is only an 8-gallon one. I will make it large enough though in case I change my mind at some point. How do you keep your glues and finishes from freezing or do you live in a warmer climate? I made a cabinet based on a John Heinz design. It has two low-watt light bulbs in a boxed-off section inside the cabinet that is on a temp. Gauge and automatically turns the bulbs on when it goes below 40 degrees. They create enough heat to prevent them from freezing. It's a clever design. I think of wood as a precious commodity, because shortly, it will go up and stay up as fewer trees there are and it is so costly now, that I do save my scraps. You can do so much with small pieces. I also sell a lot of offcuts when I get too much to store. There is a big market for pieces like the ones you said you throw out. When I listed it on FaceBook Market Place it was sold within an hour of posting it. Now I have a list of a few people who will buy it and I rotate who gets it. I then use that money to buy more hardwood or something I need in the shop. It is the recycler/ repurposer in me that doesn't want to see waste. Some say they don't have time to list it, but it takes less than 5 minutes of your time to do it. And I don't care how financially comfortable people are, money is money, esp. these days. Just a suggestion.
