Hey Friends! Welcome
In today’s video I’m sharing with you my Ultimate Dream Shed Shop Makeover that took me a little over a month to complete. I built my 8’x12’ shed shop back in October 2012 on the rear section of our property. For many years I used it as a workshop and art studio. Over the past few years it’s become more of a storage unit than a workshop. So I decided to change that and turn the old workshop into an Ultimate Fab Lab Shed Shop. I had to do some repairs to the floor to make it more structurally sound. I added walls, and No I didn’t insulate, I chose not to, I live in southern California and our weather is usually nice. I heard a lot about why I should have insulated our Garage in the comments of that video and I know there will be some comments about it on this video. I’m still happy with my decision to not insulate. But feel free to tell me why I should have insulated the shed shop and my garage in the comments, I do love that engagement … After I added the walls with no insulation, I painted the entire shed with my Wagner sprayer. I mimicked the floors in the garage by paint the floors gray and adding paint chips then I added epoxy over the top. Huge thank you to American Green Lights for sending me their sleek and I changed out the lighting for more modern sleek lights from American Green lights big thank you to Jim. I changed out my old wood workshop tables for a white husky tool cabinet and a husky tool cart. I’m extremely grateful to Onefinity for sending me one of their refurbished CNC unit to play with. Also I have to give a huge shout out to Wall Control for sending me some of their metal pegboards and accessories for the shop. I’ve listed a few of the links to some of the items I’ve added to the Shed shop below. It took me 3 days to completely clean the shop out. I used a method of, if I was going to keep an item I took out, and then I also needed to get rid of an item, a one for one method. I would either sell the item, donate it, or if necessary toss in the trash. I was able to recoup a good amount of money from the item I got rid of, which I was able to put back into the shed shop makeover. This helped me to downsize the amount of items I kept and put back in the shop. The flooring repair job probably took me the most amount of time throughout this project. This Ultimate Dream Shed Shop Makeover took a lot of hard work and love and I’m extremely proud of how it turned out. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this video in the comments.

Transformations like this are a lot of work, awesome job. I took my accessory building and stripped it back to 2x4s. New cement, electrical, insulation, drywall, painting, lighting. You can’t help but smile every time you go into your new space. Can’t wait to see you put it to use.

Well, Thank you so much friend.
Blow in insulation later. Cut a 4-inch hole in each wall bay, blow it in. Companies do this for retrofits. Yeah, you gotta hear it again: You did everything else right, and you shoulda’ put in the insulation. Great remodel though. Beautiful.

Excellent repair of the floor and creating a level base; very important and something that sometimes gets missed. Also; can never have too many lights! I liked the bare strips on the roof supports for minimal effort to maximum effect. Well thought out workflow for phase 1; there is always improvements to follow, it's just the nature of making/crafting. Seeing the CNC fit into a shed was new for me, can't wait to see how it works out. Great project!

Love it! Have you ever thought about designing workshops for people? You have such a great eye, and both your shops are so well designed, with personal touches, and impressive organizational functionality! There is a KZreadr Rachel Maksy that just moved into a new house and her future studio is in an outbuilding on her property. It would be so cool to do a collab with her and help her design her new work studio. She dabbles in everything from cos-play to makeup artistry, and spends a lot of time crafting, sewing, and creating. Her studio needs much help, and I think it would be super cool for you to help her design it! Just a thought, but she really does need help!

The finished product looks very clean and professional. Tbh the before is more to my liking but I'm probably way outside of your target demo. Lindsay, This is an excellent use of t his space. I love your attention to detail throughout the build. You definitely have plenty of light for any project build. I didn't see any dust collection. (maybe I missed it here in this video.) With the CNC, that is going to creaT a lot of dust. All and all, a great space. I'm very excited for you in the future. Thanks for sharing this build-out. I feel your pain with the insulation police! Never knew they amassed in such great populations on social media! LOL I bet 90% have never insulated anything themselves. :) That out of the way... Awesome results and definitely a she-shed if I've ever seen one, the transformation was well worth the time watching 👀 and nodoubt will be a lot of pleasure to be working within 👍. Can you please tell me what the CNC brand is and how much it cost you? I'm interested in buying one for myself and my wife to share with my woodworking and her creative crafting as I think it will help with not only her business idea's going forward but also to give her the motivation for achieving her own goals 😊. As always 💯 % 👍 🇬🇧.

Thank you so much friend I really appreciate it I have a Onefinity CNC and love it.
This is absolutely amazing! Just my 2 cents, you could absolutely break this video up into several videos to give yourself more spread out content. I know there's a lot of pressure on creators to have a whole space done, but this is SO much work and it's ok by me to just share sections of a space at a time. But seriously AMAZING video and such a dreamy space!!!

I'm a bit late to the game but just found you. Organizing and cleaning is not my forte, but this is very inspirational. I am curious though of you CNC set up, specifically the dust collection. Is the unit outside the shed or connected to your garage setup?
@wood_brain
2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much friend I really appreciate it I didn’t have a dust collector set up prior to this video which is why if the machine had not been run yet or surfaced but I’ve recently got a dust collector that I store underneath the CNC I am contemplating building a encasement for the top and bottom to help with noise but overall I’m happy with the dust collection that I have now.
I swapped out two 8 foot fluorescent light fixtures out my shop / garage for LED. Such a huge difference. Its light daylight in my shop. I really hate fluorescent lighting and the buzz from the fixtures. Like what you did with the shop. Question: Did the epoxy on the floor make it slick when its wet - damp or is the coverage thin enough so the chips still have a bit of bite?
@wood_brain
2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Bill I totally agree about switching to LED from fluorescent… I did a thin enough layer of the epoxy that the paint chips still stick through giving it traction so it’s not slippery and we just recently had some rain and I walked in with wet feet and had no problem.
What kind of dust extraction system are you using for the CNC? Looks smaller than 100mm

Hey there it’s a Onefinity CNC
Know what ? At the beginning of the video, you have a dark blond dog matching the color of the wood panels. I, like everybody, expect you to - either dye your dog white at the end for him to keep matching the panel color. - or have him an LED collar. - ideally : both.
