I was very fortunate to know her very well during my childhood days in Bombay. Many weekends were spent in her ranch in Mumbra in 1971/72 which was such a beautiful place for those days. It was just like an American ranch and even had a cinema. But the most striking thing was Nutan - who was such a well mannered and elegant person and extremely down to earth. I have sene her cleaning the floors with her own hands and then cooking in the kitchen before going to the small temple in her garden and giving us the prasad. Her level of general knowledge was extremely high and it was evident without any argument that she was an extremely well cultured, well travelled and highly educated person. Very few actresses were like her as she was a very decent person too.

sk I wonder how she would have reacted to Kajol's success. Probably, they would have acted together just like how Tanuja and Mohnish Behl did. Do you think Kajol's success further strained the relations between her and Mohnish?

This is such a hidden gem. Never knew she was quite this intellectual without trying too hard unlike some of the current actors. Enjoyed listening to her.

@@champion5686 not sure about that because she didn't have a full education although her mother claims she studied up till Senior Cambridge. Her English is not perfect and she was shy. But I think she was a deep thinker and a philosopher by her own invention. Her son speaks much better English because I think that's what he learnt from his father.

After watching movie SUJATA (The best hindi movie I have seen ever) on 18 April 2021 on KZread... So desparate to watch her other classic movies like SEEMA, BANDINI etc.. in the process came accross this valuable piece of her interview... Couldn't resist... Watched it.. Felt really good..What a Talent and Beauty..

I m 20 yrs old... I have seen nutan's Sujata, Bandini, Seema, Saraswatichandra, Milan, Khandaan and Main tulsi tere aagan ki....she was beyond imagination acted in every shot

From this interview, I learnt many things from a great Actress of India like Nutan jee. I saw many of her films and wonder how a woman like her was so perfect in performance with a quality of humbleness. . In this interview, her answers are very very clear without resting blame to any body nor to offend anybody. I never heard of any woman possessing virtues, like talent skill glamor humility. etc. May be, with this reason she came out sucessful in her career..with name and fame.

I am too young to say that but Nutan ji was so beautifully ❤. The authority with she acted is commendable.. RIP ma'am 💐

1974 ; I am dragged by my mum and dad to watch a film "Saudagar" , and for a 10 year old it was the most boring three hours of my life ,after 20 minutes I was fidgeting like hell and wanted to get the hell outta that cinema hall ! Fast forward 20 years later and I catch Saudagar again on satellite TV and decide ,well, lets give it another go ,its only 3 hours of my life ! After watching, it was then I realised not only re discovering a great film (with one of Amitabhs first roles)but also how great a actress Nutan truly was. She was unlike other actresses. Subtle ,nuanced and a magnetic screen presence. Many actors of that era over acted but she held back and was a natural. Watching this interview it does not surprise me how intelligent and thoughtful a person she comes across. A shame she passed away relatively young.

There is no doubt that Nutan was head and shoulders above her compatriots .She should have been awarded for her role in सोने की चिड़िया । I couldn't see her last film Kaliganj Ki Bahu in full .Her tragic grandeur mesmerized me . She had no match in her lifetime. Luckily , we got Smita Patil and Shabana Azmi after her untimely death. I thank you very much for the interview with her . Good interview. Bandini and Sujata are the products of good story, direction and acting plus melodious songs blended with skilful music. Nutan is a very good actress who reveals her character in filming a shot rather than rehearsal.

Bimal da was overrated. I don't think he should have made Sujata a achute girl in the movie. Such people won't be kept inside the home. The movie had potential and the study of how an in-house child who is reared there becomes an undeniable part of the home even if the owners (parents) think they don't love them could have been completely believable if Sujata was just a poor girl of obscure origins. And Bandini was just superfluous. It gave space for Nutan to showcase her talents. Both films worked for Nutan but I don't think they were masterpieces even if Nutan's performance in them were. Nutan spoke about Amartya Chatterjee having plans for future projects with her which seemed promising but he didn't live. They could've been interesting. Nutan could've been in Hollywood films had she lived. She was already planning to direct before she died. She wrote and directed Tanuja's launch film so that film could be representative of her skill.

Can we just appreciate the quality of questions and her answers? Nowadays all we get is rapid fire and tell us ur 'fashion icon'..?
