Such a great video. Local friend is using this method with success and I'm going to give it a try. I've sourced out the undergravel filter off aliexpress. I tried looking at polycarbonate cutting and fusing that looked expensive and messy. So I found these ikea square food container glass ones that fits perfectly. Will give this a try on my shrimp rack. Thanks for the great video and can't wait till the next ones

such an inspiring video! 5th time rewatching it. I found some glass cube food containers 15x15x15 cm. i took my undergravel filter there and it didn't fit. so i was disappointed. about .5 cm off Thne when i was driving back from ikea i realized, hey i can trim the undergravel filter. and watched your video and BAM that's what you did to make the perfect fit! darn it! back to ikea this afternoon! can't wait to add the undergravel filter box to all my shrimp tanks!

I scored today I saw the ista pH 5.5 in my local fish store for a killer deal. I looked all over couldn't find a price but bought it. Now I am very happy I did. I have just started my first two tanks a week and a half ago and started them with brightwell but my pH has been 7+ but added this to them both and will just consider it starting over from here but I also didn't know much about either - these are my first 2 I have started for caridina.

Great video. I started doing what one KZreadr was doing. I put the soil in a bucket that i want to use about a month prior to using the soil. I add water from my water changes to help bleed off the ammonia over the month. Each time I do water changes I change the water in the bucket. I add a few snails and some moss to the bucket throughout the month. I found it helps cycling the soil. Do you find different color soils effects the color of the shrimp? Like a lighter/brown soil the shrimp will be lighter in color?

I recently redid 2 tanks with ugf box using biocerapond, lava rocks and glasgarten soil with 0.5 litres of ada on the ground, my ph is 5.6 after 3 weeeks of cycling. My new tanks with 2 litres of Glasgarten soil on the ground with traditional sponge filter filtration gives me a Ph of 5.8, my old tanks after 16-18 months with the same soil have a Ph of 6. @@ShrimpMania the main issue in my area is the hobby isn't as popular as other areas. Also importing soils into this country needs to have certification which can be costly. Plus the weight of soil and cost of a shipping container these days. Another method some breeders here use is a product called smw bioculture, which it drops the ph for you that's safe for shrimp. I think 22C is ideal from my experience. prls are more easier shrimp so they breed much faster than Taiwan bees it's quite normal. I have only one ugf box in my 40cm square tank.

I bought 4 pens within couple of years period, 2 of them are bad another 2 I believe are ok. You need to calibrate them regularly and they last for only a couple of years. I normally use two pens at the same time and then assume that true pH is in between. You can see it in this video at 15:46
