Active shooter response at US base in UK (and other military vehicle spotting) 🇺🇸 🇬🇧

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

US Air Force security forces are alerted to a genuine active shooter threat at RAF Mildenhall, which was not related to a readiness exercise taking place. The base goes into lockdown, aircraft is held, while military police are mobilized to search for the threat. The all-clear is given with no injuries.
We weren't aware of the real-world threat and thought it was part of the exercise. It wasn't until later we saw a statement posted that read: 'The installation was conducting a base readiness exercise, and initial reports were potential exercise activity, however it was confirmed it was not exercise related and implemented a real-world lock down.' Read more: www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england...
Aside from this, the video shows general day to day activity at RAF Mildenhall with a range of US Air Force aircraft, emergency vehicles, and ground teams. The video also features fighter jets from nearby RAF Lakenheath. The US Air Force in Europe operate these bases, which are still owned by the UK Government. 🇬🇧 🇺🇸
Also featured is a NATO E3TF Sentry, an AWACS (Airborne Warning and Control System).

Interesting to see the NATO AWACS at Mildenhall. It seemed to be over the southern north sea Tuesday. Spectators at RAF Coningsby were joking that it probably had the thankless task of trying to organise the practice flypast for the Kings Coronation as there were so many aircraft to get lined up ready for the dry run.

It's fascinating to see cars on USA plates driving around the UK. I've seen plates with "US GOVERNMENT" on the top driving around near Lakenheath, in fact one was behind me in traffic. It was quite surreal to have that in my mirrors. Also, I've even seen cars on USA plates driving around Riga, and once (unrelated) a car on NSW Australian plates driving around Dublin.

It makes no sense to import American vehicles. The troops stationed wouod be driving their own right hand drive vehicles anyway so all this does is ensure that they are waging money away on imported vehicles+parts and I suspect that’s why some look like they belong in a scrap yard.

It requires a lot of patience as you can't get notified of things to film in the same way you can with military exercises, VIP events, and aircraft/ship movements. I used to spend a good 8 hours wandering around cities, finding emergency services, and things to film, and since 2020, the videos haven't done as well. I'm hoping to find some new emergency services things to film at some point - just waiting for something to present itself. That and with budget cuts everything's down scaled a lot.

Probably the powertrain right, engine and transmission? Guess where Europe gets transmissions for their heavy duty and military vehicles. From America. Allison transmissions are in pretty much every heavy vehicle in Europe. Even the brand new Boxer, Piranha, Terrex armored vehicles have an allison in it. Europe can make engines etc etc but when it comes to complex things like automatic transmissions they get it from the U.S.
