I've been using the Ryobi for years now and I've never had huge issues. I love it. I don't see the need for a more expensive unit as you said I can find this one everywhere so if it breaks I'll just go buy another one asap. It works great with my upgrades and has decent output. For sure it won't outlast or out perform a more expensive unit such as an AR unit or the Kranzle units however for the price and what I use it for I'm just fine.

The Active 2.0 still has some room for improvement. They redesigned it for a 50-foot hose yet some units still have surging issues when using said 50-foot hose. I've also seen one not work properly right out of the box with all the stock accessories. The increase in flow and pressure is negligible. The smaller size is nice but doesn't make much difference at home in the driveway doing my own car. I still don't really trust it to last the 200 hours they say, given the issues I've seen on two separate units. Only time will tell if lots of us have issues or if they are isolated. Thanks for the video.

  • @StaySlick

Those are all valid points. With any new product there is issues and room for improvement. I think the hype that this unit gets is causing people to forget that we need to be realistic with products in specific price points. We need to remember that this is a $350 unit. All products are going to have returns. That’s a fact, even a Kranzle has returns. I do agree that with time we will see how reliable this unit is by and large.

I think a big reason this was overhyped was because Matt from Obsessed Garage made his video using a faulty pressure gauge that showed a tremendous amount of flow while still maintaining high psi. It got to the point where he said you could use it with a 7.0 nozzle and have around 2.4 gpm while still pushing around 1000 psi (I don’t remember the exact numbers he claimed but it was around these). That was due to faulty measuring equipment but common sense should have told him that was wrong. No 120v pressure washer at that price point is putting out those numbers. He has a following that takes his word as gold so the legend was built before it even hit the shelves. It’s sad because it takes away from the fact that it’s a great little unit but it will obviously never reach those numbers.

Are you having any issues with Active 2.0 tripping every time you turn off the unit? For example: Rinsing -> Finished Rinsing -> Turn off Active 2.0 -> Turn on Active 2.0 -> Need to press the breaker reset button on unit power outlet. The last step is where I feel should happen unless there was an actual trip due surge protection. I use Dewenwils remote control outlets to remotely turn on off the washer.

I have a very similar gravity fed truck bed setup as yours. Mine started surging every 30 seconds on the dot. They gave me a list of procedures to try to fix the issue but it didn’t work for me. The washer is awesome but for it to be surging after 3 months it makes me pretty paranoid. Luckily I bought 2 of these so i won’t be out of work. Just sucks it only lasted 3 months before having issues. Edit: I’ve seen plenty of videos of people having issues with all brands of electric pressure washers so I’m by no means hating on active. If you're speaking pex, 1/2 inch pex is very restrictive! 3/4 pex should be used. If talking 1/2 copper, copper would be fine. On copper there is far less restriction than 1/2 inch pex. BUT, you mentioned 200 feet of underground line? I'd use 3/4 pex, and still check to see water pressure to see where it is at. 200 feet is a long way. Surely would not like 1/2 pex to be used for 200 feet.

Active is aware of how people usually use they’re products which was why they made the 2.0. Obviously they will say it’s not intended for detailers for liability and warranty reasons. Watch their videos. James talks about who tends to use their products.

@@StaySlick yea, totally understand coz they would probably lose a lot of money on warranty claim. Active states the Active 2.0 life span is about 250 hours, and it would last me years because I only wash 3 cars 2 or 3 times per year. However, for professional service, i guess it would only last a few months.

I’m not impressed with this unit. First one wouldn’t shut off when I released the trigger on my gun. Now the replacement unit they sent me suddenly shut off and will not turn on and it stunk like burning electrical. And to boot, I’ve emailed 3 times about this second unit and Active doesn’t respond. I’ll just buy a Kranzle at this point. Done with Active but I want my money back

Knowing that most people who buy this unit are going to use it for an unintended use like detailing is why I made the video. This video is for THOSE INDIVIDUALS. Not someone like yourself. Considering I spoke with a rep on Instagram and emailed the company directly that same day. 2 weeks was more than appropriate for me especially since this is my garage unit.
