"Tropical" - 11x14” - Acrylic on Canvas -
I’ve been itching to paint another beach scene and figured now was a great time as we head toward snowy weather. This has to be one of my favorite paintings ever! The whole thing went incredibly smoothly and I had a lot of fun with the beach and shoreline. Sara tells me it looks like a photograph and perhaps it does, but the nice thing about painting is I can change the subject however I want it to be. In this case, the beach in the original photo was filled with people…too bad I can’t paint away crowds like that in real life!

What colours.u used? Pls explain.did u apply green under black color?

Titanium white Alizarin Crimson Ultramarine blue Dioxazine purple Bright aqua green Cadmium yellow medium There is no black in the mixture. My darkest color is a mix of dioxazine purple and bright aqua green I try to paint the shadow areas first and then build up the lighter tones on top.

Alizarin crimson was mixed with yellow and white to warm up the sand color

For this painting: - titanium white - ultramarine blue - cadmium yellow medium - bright aqua green - cadmium red medium
