The Acrylic Kalimba has Vibrant and smooth sounds while the Wooden one has low and cool sounds . I like the acrylic moree for me. Thanks for this video!

Exactly!! The wood does have a cool sound and the Acrylic is "bright" but i prefer your term "vibrant". Wow @Red juelar, that was a great input you gave there. What is your acrylic brand by the way?:)

@@strawbxrry.winter2774 Actually, I got one from Amazon, but I think the acrylic ones are all from China, based n the shipping time. I'm pretty sure the virus floats off packages after 24 hours, so I think we'll be good! `^'

This video helped me a lot bc I'm interested on the acrilyc one and I was afraid that it the sound was too low compares to the wooden ones. But it's not, seems pretty decent! Thank you!

Thanks for the video! I've been wanting to buy a kalimba for two years but never really got a chance to do research thanks to quarantine I'm able to finally look at new instruments I want to try and I really like the sound of kalimba's. I was hesitating between a wood and an acrylic one like in the video. Thanks to the video I know I'll go with a wooden one because there are more pro's than con's compared to the acrylic

I'm a quiet person, so the more quiet, sweet sound of acrylic kalimbas in videos appealed to me, and now I'm in love with the sound in person! I have ordered a second kalimba, an unbranded one like I have seen in some of your videos. It's light blue, solid wood with the keys engraved. Waiting for it to get here. Do you find it hard to reach the middle tines? My hands are medium small size, so I'm worried it will be a reach to get to the low notes.

@@babypink8954 awww, the way you said that is just so sweet. 😭♥️ Mmm, when i was choosing it the photo had that logo, but when they sent it, it didn't so i think they are the same. Because everything inside is the same. Haha! About the grip, since i was used to holding the flatboard kalimba, it did felt different, because for months I've been used to the straight kalimba body, but eventually it felt okay. The only issue is the weight. The wood is way way lighter.:)

Hi Alexis! Would love to help you on that, but I haven't tried the Nalu before. So i really couldn't tell if it's good, just be aware of the end tines. And if you'll buy one online, maybe have one with a return policy to be sure. :)

I'm still currently unable to decide between a kimi acrylic (as you said in previously comments that they are good) or a wooden one tho! I prefer the sound of the acrylic but I prefer the volume of the wooden T^T

Wooden kalimba all the way because I noticed it got more pros than cons unlike the acrylic ones

Hi Mitch! Well, depends on your type. Sound wise they do differ. Wood has a cooler sound or more mellowwhile the Acrylic is more warm or romantic. If i were to choose one, I'd go for the wood for the sole reason that it's lighter. I enjoy playing the kalimba for quite some time, and i notice that if i use the acrylic one, the weight can really affect the duration of your playing. So. Wood, flat wood to be specific. :)

I went for the one with built-in linein with a vision of including it for the Kids Church worship time. We use ukulele most of the time, and I think it will sound nicer with the kalimba on the mix. ;)

Hello! Can you please help me out? I don't know what a blank key is (you said it at 3:23) and if there's any way you can fix it, like you just need to tune it or is it like a broken key?

you can try to look at 3:26. I will play all the keys and you will be able to see the difference of a dead tine. If it's dead, it's the problem of the body already and not the tine. So if there's a replacement warranty you can use that to get it changed :)

@@carmupiarmy5183 yes, if it's the CEGA brand. But for this one or Kimi, they are okay. But, to be safe, the warranty would be fine :)

I couldn't help but notice the absence of the backside holes on your wood based kalimbas. I've only had 2. both hollow wood box base and they had holes on the back that gave a pleasant vibrato or flanger "wah" type effect. Have you played these types?

i bought this exact kalimba from the store you linked in shopee and i was so pleasantly surprised! although my tuning hammer was kind of different (did not come with a wooden handle and has a rubber end on one side), my kalimba came with engraved keys and a hard case (the one with a zipper!) 💕

Woah! Thank you for letting me know. Aw that's such a bummer that they changed their hammer. The wooden one was my favorite. Plus i think the rubber end is quite complicated. But oh how blessed you are that it came with a case and engraved keys! I love that! 😍❤️

Thank you so much for your helpful tips. My daughter is eight and I prefer the acrylic one for her first Kalimba because of the shape and the romantic sound. But I am pretty concerned it is too much weight for her.

Hi po! What about the glissandos po? Is it easy to do glissandos? I already have 2 flat wood kalimba(one is unbranded) and I wanted to try an acrylic one... Most of the pieces that I want to play has a lot of glissandos.

Hello Ate Tip, I have a few questions regarding the acrylic kalimba. I’m getting mine soon next week and I’m curious that if I play a song in the aryclic, would it sound the same on a hollow?

Hi Kat! Ooh volume-wise, it's softer and more quiet than your hollow. But the keys of the acrylic (just like the flatboard) are more resonating especially the end tines comparing to your hollow. Personally, i think the Acrylic has a more romantic sound :)

Would you recommend this brand, or Nalu, or Kimi? I definitely want an acrylic but am unsure which one

Haven't tried Nalu yet, but i did try kimi. But basing on the size of the body, I'd go for kimi :)

Hi Kurai, i am not sure if shopee, lazada or AliExpress is available in your country. Have you tried looking at amazon if kalimbas are available there?

My resolution for the new year is to learn how to play an instrument so I chose the kalimba. I found a beautiful blue stained wood one and I can't wait to have it in my hands. I found your channel and now I'm confident that I will achieve my goal.

I purchased the Nalu Cat Kilimba as my first one (and honestly did it as an impulse buy at 3 am cuz iv wanted one for ages and it is SO CUTE?!) and I love it! I'm hoping to try a wood one in the future once iv used this one for a while but I have it sit on my shelf in a holder when not in the case and I love it! It is so so cute and sweet and I can play it for as long as I want without it being herd through the walls which is amazing in a house with others who don't want to hear you playing at all hours!

Compared to the circle, the bear has more grip space. But they are still both good :)

hello, i bought the exact same kalimba in this video. it's good and i had no problem in a month but recently i hear buzzing sound in 135 notes. i do some tips on youtube but it didn't work. i am kinda frustated 😅 maybe you have any suggestion to fix it?

Hi fladinish! Have you tried tuning the kalimba already? :) Well try moving the tines repetitively left and right.

I love her reaction to the kalimba, i'm going to order a kalimba (My senond one) i bought my first kalimba it's a hollow wooden kalimba, and i'm gonna order a Acrylic Cat Kalimba on Shoppe sale 4.4, can't wait to order and get it, i bet i'm going to have the same reaction as her when i get that kalimba
