This trailer means a lot to me, it really does. I found it in the bonus material on my Spider-Man 3 DVD and it captivated me at the age of 8 in a very powerful (and unexpected) way, I just couldn't help but play that DVD just to replay this trailer over and over again. Since I was a kid and it was obvious that my parents wouldn't have allowed me to watch the entire movie on my own, I never dared to rent it at Blockbuster. Life went on and I finally resolved to watch it in 2020 and.... it was worth the wait. Even with 13 years of pure hype in my mind, Across the Universe didn't disappoint me, and in fact I think that year was the right year for me to watch it, it helped me in a very specific way that would never have happened any other time. What a film!

Kinda crazy this is such a niche thing to this generation (holding nostalgia and purpose in the little add ons of the most random stuff - a Spider-Man 3 DVD commercial. I remember seeing the Strawberry fields forever scene as a kid and would just sing the chorus randomly growing up. This my first time bothering to pull it up on KZread as a 22 yr old😂
"We're in the middle of a revolution, Jude. And what are you doing? Doodles and cartoons?" That line hit me hard.

Idk why this trailer feels so homey and good to rewatch. Possibly because it takes me back to being a child. I have yet to watch the movie after all these years but I plan on doing so very soon.

Saw this in the theater twice. Most musicals have one or two really good routines. This one strings one after another in. I think Strawberry Fields and the recruiting office are the best. Both have such strong stark imagery to go with the music. Such a sharp contrast to the playfulness of the earlier songs.

Just realized the quotes that fly by at 1:55 aren't from a review; it's just the trailer telling you the movie is good. lol
I lived this era. Music was such an influential part of the "revolution", new left, youth movement--call it what you will--but it wasn't just (or even primarily) the Beatles, Stones, Jefferson Airplane, etc. Less well known groups like Elephants Memory and MC5 didn't mince words about their revolutionary vision. Of course, it was all just youthful pipe dreams that, thank God, didn't come to fruition. Haven't watched this movie yet and am eager to see how close to the mark it comes.

I have an amazing story. One day I was driving home, when all of a sudden the Lord came to me in spirit. I felt very close to Him. I knew if I asked him to play any song on the radio he would, I guess to bless my faith. So I said "ok, Lord play "Come as you are by Nirvana". I turned on the radio and the song started playing right there on the spot, perfectly… I started getting flooded with chills like a waterfall, crying, and trembling. He stayed with me for 10 minutes in my driveway. until I got outta the car. A couple months after that I started getting amazing prayers answered way more often, because it helped me quit doubting when I pray and I was lined up with biblical instructions. It's 6 years later and I still get answered prayers in Jesus name.

@@elefja1 Yes, I couldn't agree more. Let me share a bit more. A while after that happened, I was watching a preacher on KZread. I felt this compassion come over me by the Holy Spirit. So I prayed for him. "Father, I pray you double this man's ministry, his finances, and his marital life, in Jesus holy name, I demand and I decree. Amen." The next day he released a new video. He was standing on stage for a bit, smiling. Then he said "The Lord has just doubled his ministry. He's doubled his finances and He's doubled his marital life... My heart started pounding from shock, because he was saying my exact prayer from the night before. I wasn't even thinking about how I had prayed when he said it. Then later that week another prayer just as impossible was answered. It went on like that for months. I've had trials and tribulations, and ups and downs, but it still happens.
