"Across the Bridge" by Graham Greene tells the story of Mr. Joseph Calloway, a wealthy but disgraced financier hiding in a small Mexican border town to evade extradition. Calloway spends his days in the town square with a dog that imperfectly resembles an English setter, looking forlorn and out of place. The townspeople are aware of his background, but he remains oblivious to their knowledge due to his language barrier. Two detectives arrive to capture him, but a misunderstanding .......

This reminds me of my Grandfather..... He was a lawyer and rana big scam in the 1960s, and ran off to Mexico......

Find out all you can so you can tell your grandkids about your grandpa, their great (great?) grandpa. My great grandpa was part of the Pretty Boy Floyd crowd. We probably all have that one relative that lived a shockingly adventurous life.
Anyone who will abuse an animal will be cruel will do the same to a human 😢
Great story! As soon as I saw Graham Greene I knew it was going to be thrilling.
Our baseless optimism which is so much worse than despair. How true.
That was a great choice for the narration voice.

Hi, many thanks 🙏 I listened to this around half an hour ago, & my initial reaction to the story was *comme ci, comme ça* // but now (around 30 min later) I feel very different l about this peculiar story, and I can see the humor of it all.
