The difference is pretty minimal. The grigoras is supposed to by a front tuck with a half turn out of it, whereas the maaranen is a half twist straightaway into a back tuck. I personally think they should be worth the same since they are so similar

Thank you, I enjoyed every minute of this! It was great to see these acrobatic skills performed so fluidly and flawlessly. Especially appreciate the content and names from the 70's and 80's era (my era in the gym). I swoon at the sighting of a perfect valdez on beam. And the front walkover called Tinsica... I haven't heard that word in over 40 years. Loved this video so much.

@QueenieQue The code makes no distinction between skills done from a stand and skills done out of a combination. It should be noted that by connecting a back handspring to a tuck back full (or any F or G skill), you would gain a .2 in connection bonus.

this will help me ALOT!!!!!im a ten yr. old gymnast but I learn how to do skills by watching other people preform them.I used 2 love beam but ever since last week im not 2 sure...I tried 2 do a switch leap,but I stradled and hit the middle of the beam.

I've really learnt a lot about elite level gymanstics through your guides and about scoring, now I can watch routines and understand why athletes are scored the way they are not cry blasphemy everytime I see a low score for a routine, The new judging code is a step in the right direction after all and I'm waiting for an athlete to score 17. :-)

@jovani2293 If you mean the back handspring into three layout stepouts then yes but you wouldn't get much for it because in the old code (I know in 1996 it was this way) three layout stepouts were considered an E element and there was a connection bonus. In the new code, you would only get credit for one layout stepout and no connection bonuses.
@TsubasaDreams11 жыл бұрын
It's been an F since the new code in 2006 because they needed to create a difference between a full-twisting tuck and full-twisting layout, which is a G.
