They seem to be getting harder to find.

Eric Bibb is a national hero to the Folk Blues Gospel Nation. He has the touch of a master musician.

He has done a lot to sell these little guitars but in my case this little guitar lead me here. Even if I never got good with this guitar, it's still worth the money for paving the way to me discovering Eric Bibb.

I think I have purchased maybe 30 or 40 of these Little JD Parlor guitars for myself and my Students over the past 8 or 10 years I don’t know….??? This gentleman brings out the best in RAW blues that the Jim Dandy has to offer….🎶❤️🎶 I have been modifying and customizing these little guitars for several years now….! ( the Jeff Galey Channel )

im not a guitar player, but this showed me why i love" turner station". hes a such a master player and theres great percussion in this peice that keeps up a lively groove on a very low cost instrument.

ain't nothing simple bout the way this man plays. Love it. Saw him at Jazz Alley, 3 weeks ago, & his music changed my soul. I see things so differently in regards to Blues, it's all God's Music anyway. I love Blues People- Just ridiculously amazing Artists! Seattle has some great Blues people...just a blessing to live here!

You're right. It may appear simple, but that is a complex sound that is very hard to emulate.

Eric is so great. Just shows that you can make great music on just about anything.

Eric Bibb is so great! He makes that cheap Jim Dandy sing the blues! I love my JD, it is a one trick pony, but it does that trick very well if in the hands of Eric Bibb. Remember that those old blues masters from the 20's through the 50's were not wealthy superstars and they played cheap catalog guitars and any guitar they could find or afford to make the amazing music we all cherish today.

Saw him live once great concert

Awesome. Good to see pros using lower budget guitars, too instead of $10K+ vintage or custom jobs. I almost bought one of those Jim Dandys but settled on the Recording King RPH-03. Same size and just about the same price, but like he mentioned playing several and liking one the most, I did the same and the Recording King is the one that felt and sounded right to me.

the budget stuff like jim dandy are not luxury built guitars, so those rough edges and "issues" that they have give it the unique sound that makes me think of blues, that cheap and twangy sound is what blues is to me

Nice review, nice piece you played. Good recording and production. Lovely little guitar. Sounds like one of these Robert Johnson and other "vintage" blues singers used in their recordings. ;-) Original pre war timbre. And Eric Bibb plays "her" as well. I think I fell in love with that baby.

Nothing wrong at all with that little Jim Dandy. I played one yesterday, and it does what it needs to do. Really easy to play. I can't make it sound like this. I have some "good" guitars and I plan to add one of these for a little beater/blues machine/take it with me guitar.

I have one of these. I call it my “ugly-ass orange guitar.” It’s very fun to play. It’s the one that I don’t hesitate to throw in the car and take to the park or pass around the campfire for an old-fashioned jam and sing-along. I bought it to play the blues, but the guitar reminded me of how Scottish I really am. 😂 Oh, and Eric Bibb is pretty darn good, too. 😏

And I have one now...and will do all I can to make it sound even a fraction as good. This is unreal

YES! I have a little white one I put a Gretsch Deltoluxe pickup in and it just sings.

He makes that guitar sound good! Then again he could make any guitar sound good!

Noise Machines ATX if you notice on the other videos, nobody plays it like this with rhythm. This is a display of this man's skill. Other video reviews have said that the frets were kind of loose and needed to be hammered. Other have said the action was a bit too high. If you're a novice, unless you have a friend who can help you a bit with modding. May not be a good guitar to start with.

@@crispwhite9068 Yes I had to adjust the trussrod A LOT on my Gin Rickley! Can't just they sell adjusted guitars? Don't they want us to like their guitars??? It's too bad, because a lot of people give up because of that. Fortunately, there are some good tutos on KZread on how to adjust the trussrod...

What a nice unassuming chap Eric is.

Sounds good.I started on a 1950s Silvertone 3/4 size. I learned and taught others with that very cheap guitar. And a nylon string (my sister put steel strings on it and ripped the bridge off) ; )

You could give the man a £5 guitar and he would still blow your mind. It is 95% in the fingers guys... Forget about solid/laminate woods or rosewood vs Mahogany.

Absolutely. My observation and playing guitar over 50 years . when it comes to sound it's resonates from the players fingers. For instance : Different ways you touch the strings, the fingernails and parts of the thumb or fingers. I've watched one person's attack on the strings, "Same guitar" And another play the same guitar. Its like two entirely different guitars. Nothing wrong with a very high end all exotic woods guitar, but You would swear two different guitars are being played. I have some fairly high end guitars. Each it's own voice and will tell you how it prefers to be played. I picked up a 400.00 dollarish parlor slot head solid Spruce top with laminated mahogany back and sides. When I learned what it was telling me. Play me like this and we will make beautiful music together. I know called her my Appalachian bride. Lol -The senior citizen

@@bodijisattva9333 Same here... My guitars range from 100 USD to 3500 USD.... The one that spoke to me most I gave to my daughter. A cheap Gibson melody maker reissue I bought for 200 bucks and sounds as good as anything I have ever heard.

Earnie got close to the Rev Gary Yes, very close,sometimes even sounds a little smoother although he (as far as i know) never composed anything original of that magnitude. Eric is awesome.

If you got the touch you can make a broom stick with strings on it sing and he can do that! Don't try this at home at least you got your game on he just makes it look easy. 😎

Awesome performance with a nice guitar, though I prefer my Recording King Dirty 30s.

If a Jim Dandy is good enough for Eric Bibb it is certainly good enough for me.

Yes, this Gretsh is cool and is a good little guitar... but on his KZread channel, I see him play a lot of other guitars, but not his Gin Dandy...

What color are they (Gretsch) calling that? Can't find one.

Picked up a JD (aged barnwood) this week off of EB. Pretty cool ,inexpensive guitar. But I don't sound like Mr. Bibb!

The problem of the guitar-picker of today is to possess a real guitar, not an ectoplasmic guitar. The Jim Dandy is not a spoof, not a product of ingenuity for ingenuity's sake. It's a guitar that some people buy, get rid of, and then buy a second time because the pain of not having one becomes intolerable. It's extremely light and comfortable, and small enough to play inside the trunk of a car, a porta-potty, a dentist's chair, or a coffin. It can help you navigate when you're lost at sea. It can keep you falling from Humpty Dumpty's knee. When you're ready to drop society's bone, go fetch this instrument. Like a beehive, the Jim Dandy guitar can make both sweet and stinging sounds. Hammer-ons and pull-offs sound better on it than any guitar I've owned, imbuing them with a twang that hearkens back to a time when magic was real and people were not. Its sinewy sonics can punch holes through both sides of any argument. It's a street guitar, but don't ask it for directions. It has no respect for consensus reality. Pluck a simple melody on it to hear notes that are not ornamental but symbolic; they're expressive and puzzling, striking and disturbing -- food for thought and also for vultures. The Jim Dandy is greater than the sum of its parts. It's neither a toy nor a Ouija board with strings. It is not a possession. It has its own life story that runs along independently and occasionally intersects our own. I and the one I live with are currently mixed-up in a comedy about mistaken identity. It uses me to express itself, to put humanity in its place. What would a wooden puppet say if it could control the flesh-and-bone ventriloquist that's been exploiting it for years? A Jim Dandy might notice a wooden crucifix and say, "Copy-cat son!"

I've got one of these. It played like shit out of the box. Took a couple of hours on the bench to get it halfway playable. Even now the B string plays sharp as early as the 2nd fret. Pro tip. Save up for longer and get something better.

I've not seen Eric use this cheapo guitar in any subsequent concert. But he must have a dozen guitars as he hardly plays the same one twice.

I hate to be stereotypcial... lol but why do black people have such great singing voices? Seriously. What he is doing right here could go on a record just like that.. lol.
