ACL SURGERY RECOVERY #2 - first two weeks after my second (!!) ACL surgery
Спорт
Hello and welcome to my second round of ACL surgery in under two years! This video covers my first 12 days post-op after getting a complete ACL reconstruction surgery using a hamstring graft. I show you how I tore my ACL, my morning routine after surgery, how I showered for the first time with my knee brace on, my first week post-op PT routine, core and upper body exercises you can do after knee surgery, how I practiced walking with my crutches, and generally way too much personal information and bad hair days. Enjoy!
NOTE: This is my second ACL surgery (one per side). My first surgery was a very different experience - see ACL surgery #1 here: • ACL surgery recovery -...

Thank you for this video, I’m Day 6 after ACL surgery and its a struggle, physically and mentally. I’m so bored and it’s hard to stay positive, but good to see your journey and that it’ll get better.

Hey Delilah! Hope you’re doing well, just wanted to say how refreshing it is to hear another athlete deal with the struggle of going thru an ACL injury & recovery. It’s been some of the darkest points in my life but I continue to look at it with a positive mindset. I could relate to most of the stuff you were talking about too, so just thought you deserved to hear this🙏💯
Going through my second ACL reconstruction (also other leg) and I couldn’t relate to anything more than this. The mood shifts from positivity to anger to negativity, mixed with workouts on my other extremities. Appreciate the workout ideals
Two weeks after ACL and meniscus repair surgery, quad tendon graft. So far so much better but those first few days were the hardest thing ever! For anyone reading be patient time will go by fast!!

I torn my acl at the end of last month and I am getting ready to start the pre therapy before surgery next month.
I've never related harder to anything ever -- "I thought a change of scenery would make me less angry and it didn't." About to go into an ACL reconstruction/meniscus transplant, less than a year after a hip labrum repair, so just know you're not alone in the repetitive injuries :)
I’m on day 20 of my ACL reconstruction and meniscus repair. Really appreciate your videos they helped me very much
Just had my acl surgery keep up the good work.
speedy recovery you got this
Hope you're doing well, I'm 5 days before my ACL surgery hoping for best. Thank you for sharing
Thanks for this video. I'm currently three weeks post OP on my second ACL + meniskus repair (also the other leg) and this video gives me some currage to get through with it. It's though comparing it to the first recovery. This time I have to walk 6 weeks on crutches in total until I am finally allowed to put some more weight on the injured knee. As a person that is quite active it's been hard to reduce workouts and the mental battle of staying inside while life goes on outside is difficult.
I need to go and get mine done. I had an ACL recon in 2004 and I've stretched it and it hurts since 2020. But I'm so scared of operations I've been hoping it would get better but it really hasn't. Need to just face facts and get the op done. But thank you for the upbeat positive video. Makes me motivated just to face my fear and get over this nightmare that I've lived with for the past 4 years.
You are doing great Delilah.. it really takes strength to manage yourself twice through such a traumatic injury. I understand how it feels for a sporty person to keep watch on every step of themselves to recover from Injury.

Around the same time you posted your first ACL vid, I destroyed my MCL getting launched across a major boulevard on my gravel bike. The rad vibes you bring to your videos and having a similar recovery timeline helped me get back in the saddle stronger than ever. Hang in there Dell, you'll be chasing KOMs soon enough 🤠 Keep bringing the good vibes!!

thanks for the motivating video. I am 14 days post OP and still having difficult nights, but things are improving.
Day 4 after surgery and I’m ready to start running haha. Day by day… love your vlog!
Broke my fibula and tore my acl back in November. Had a plate and screws put in my ankle, and they didn’t find out about my acl til late January. Still can’t walk from the ankle surgery but hope to have the acl done in a couple months 😅 thanks for the video!
Best wishes for a full recovery! Full, not fast. Play the long game and listen to the PT! My wife Marijke is a career orthopedic specialist PT, we have sooo many friends who didn't listen and fucked up their recovery and added time to the process, in some cases they didn't recover fully. Two ears and one mouth for a reason, listen to your body and your therapist! Best wishes

Thanks for sharing. I just had an ACL surgery to and want to know based on your experience, when I can sit on chair after the surgery so that I can work (using compter for hours) in a more comfortable gesture?
Been stuck in on my own, week 7, glad to have come across your vid. I knew the physical side was gonna be tough, did not expect the mental aspect. Thanks for sharing, ha would love any insight on not tearing my other leg. Tore this one landing bolts though so I’m not sure what else to do ha

don't do anything cool on skis until your surgery side is actually for real 90%+ strength matched to the other side or you'll be compensating without realizing it.. trigger warning its not that chill to get your strength up to 90%+ in a timely manner lolz maybe someday I will make a completely unqualified ACL reco advice main takeaways for skiers video
Thanks for sharing your experiences. Just had my acl + meniscular surgery 48 hours ago. Steady and slow for the full recovery! Greetings from Finland!

@@hahaharden2506 thanks for asking! Doing pretty good. No pain and trying to get more strenght by the day. Mobility is still only like 90 deg. Max, but I think it’s ok for 2,5 weeks post surgery. It also depends on the swelling level. Unfortunately due to meniscus repair I have to use cruches for 4 weeks total after which I can really start walking.

11 ай бұрын
@@hahaharden2506 Ok good! So the worst pain will be going away soon. I’m no expert and can talk only with my 3 week post-op experience. First week I was pretty much just resting, doing ice/cold treatment, keeping leg up, ankle pumping (to get the blood flowing) and trying to get the quad firing, also straight leg raises. Thats all I did the 2nd week as well before my physio meeting 2 weeks post op. Then I got my stiches taken away and some new excercises. I really didn’t do too much excercises but now later on I think I should pick up the pace by a little. But during 2 first weeks for you I wouldn’t be too worried about what to do. Just rest and try to get blood flowing and swelling down 👍 It’s not a sprint but a marathon! :)

Ha..... Try have a complete ACL, MCL AND MENISCUS RUPTURE. Thanks for the video. I'm 3 weeks post op and only now starting to feel normal again. I've broken many bones in my body and gone through a lot of rehab. This is by far the worst thing I've ever had to deal with. Stay healthy ppl. Positive mind and healthy bodies.

@UltraMegaSandwich

Hey, hope this isn't too late but just had ACL surgery myself. Buy a few things: some sort of cushion for elevating your leg, nylon wraps for the handles of your braces (stops your hands and wrists hurting as much when you're on them), and a plastic sleeve thing for showering. You can cover your dressings with cling film but it's not as easy and gets annoying really fast. Finally, if you have family or friends that live in a more accessible house (e.g. a bungalow) stay with them post-op. I stayed at a bungalow for 5 days and wish I could have stayed 10 days really. Stairs are fine- if a little slow- but carrying things up and down is a hassle when you forget things. Recommend having an empty backpack for holding things as you go up and down them. Finally stay strong through the rehab- it's a novelty for a bit but after a couple of weeks it's dead boring. Just hang in there and trust the process. Good luck pal!

so how long each recovery/rehab lasted? at least 6, 7 months?
I'm too scared of this ACl tear because study says that once we get tear our injured leg Acl there is A most likely chance to get tear another opposite leg too, so did it happen in a same way to you😢? I'm going to have an Acl surgery end of this month going through mental stress and scary 😢

I had my btb acl reconstruction in Nov 22. I had a cyclops lesion via knee anthroscopy that needed to be taken out 4 days ago so I'm back to basics with trying to get full leg extension but I have 90 degree bend.
Ahahahaha! It's not just my knee "doesn't work". Good health!
hey! I’m one and a half weeks post op now. At any point did you have any worry that you may have been putting too much pressure on the leg? My knee buckled a few days back and I’ve been worrying ever since that I’ve somehow messed the surgery up. Finding this video has been so comforting by the way
@DelilahCupp

Oooh yeah always worried I put too much pressure on the leg. It’s so hard to know at first because it feels so whack all the time. But if you are more than a week out of ACL reconstruction only (no meniscus or other fixes) you should be good to go with putting full weight on it, it just won’t feel right for another week or so. But warning you will be worrying that you messed the surgery up every time you do anything remotely uncomfortable for months to come lol
