Acid Archives Diaries - Ouba (1968) (a new series)

Музыка

I hope many will join in on this series. There are endless opportunities and records to explore in Patrick Lundborg's Acid Archives. And its not just psych that's for sure.

Great concept! You bet I'll join in. I have the first print of AA, but the 2nd edition turned out real well. I got some in mind already that I could shed some light on. Ouba is great! I've always mentioned the early Can resemblance too. There were a plethora of teen garage cover releases like The Invaders. Grandma's Rockers from Iowa come to mind as one of my favorites.

Yes was hoping so. There is tons of that 66 / 67 garage in there and some truly worthy ones with slack, inept playing that give it that endearing quality. Don't think I've ever heard Grandma's Rockers. Rare one!

I love OUBA, this used to be a staple on my Friday night live shows, I'm sure my listeners were tired of me playing it, but I just love it.

An invaluable reference book and a great idea for a thread! It's sure to throw up a bunch of records most of us have never encountered. I just posted my first and definitely not my last contribution to the thread: It's All Meat's LP from 1970. ☮️

Great idea. So much crazy stuff in there. I love that Ouba record... found my copy on GEMM back in the day, which was pretty surprising. Massiera was living in Canada around that time, so I always wondered about a connection, but have yet to find one. It seems like the cover was a ringwear magnet, too!

Right, definite ringwear issues. The copy my buddy upgraded from had some as well. GEMM! I remember that site for sure. Used to find things on there every now and then. Musicstack too!

Love this. Got the book about five years ago for the first time. I have very few of the really obscure records included, but there might be one I’d want to feature, like the Blue Note series from a few years ago. Looking forward to to more of these 🌸✌🏻

Ya I was surprised as many people were stoked on it. Felt like perhaps its been talked up plenty. But its an easy way to make quick videos and some fertile ground with all kinds of interesting music to highlight.

Dom, great idea. I only have a digital copy of the book (2nd Ed.), but love reading through it. Just like the book I have digital copies of some of the listed albums, but I will check to see if I actually have any of these LPs. Don't know Ouba. Thanks, Chris

Though the majority of the stuff in the book is outside my musical interests it's a great guide i have read both volumes enough to have them memorized regardless 😂. And i do have some stuff in the book that maybe no one else has at least two i am pretty sure..i might give it a go we will see..but a great idea for a series...much love chris

This sounds like an interesting idea. I find that I'm not so big on the contests but this gives us a bit more freedom. Let me think about what to feature. Hmmmmmmm.....Btw, I wasn't familiar with the book so I'll need to correct that error.

The book is fascinating Shawn and a trove of lost records you've never seen, nor may ever see. Always incredible the amount and breadth of records being created in that golden era. Used to be much more affordable to do so, clearly, with some of the weird shit that got released. But no contests here...I am kind of allergic to those I think.
