    For those that are criticizing Varkony for suspecting Nguyen had AA but STILL shoving preflop ... even if he flat calls ... all the chips are getting in on that 10-high flop with no flush/straight possibilities.

    You guys need to understand there’s a difference between him saying I knew it after Scotty Nguyen’s reaction to him going all in vs thinking he was behind but shoving anyway.

    I saw a player on a poker show a few years ago say he considers this a coin flip because half the time you’re going to be the one with KK and half the time you’ll be the one with AA.

    Exactly... 50-50 because you have to play it the exact same way... Only way to fold kings is if it's a 4 bet back to you in a situation with 3+ players...

    Not an ego thing. You just need to shove kings there when the situation comes up if you're gonna have a profitable strategy. An unfortunate situation for Robert, but it's still a financially advisable move to shove there

    I’m honestly done with aces. I’m not even kidding when I say I’m close to folding them. They may be a statistical favourite to win but the fact is you either win a small pot or lose a massive one with them normally. This is what Doyle Brunson said in his book. I’m seriously over them. They’re just a pair. Way over rated. I make all my money set mining.

    @@CJ.1998X.Y.Z i agree that they’re overrated, they’re “just a pair”, and you mostly win small pots with them. But they’re still a great hand. Think about all the boards you’re fine calling/betting down with Top pair, top kicker, you should be fine with Aces there. Think of all the boards where you’re fine folding top pair/top kicker, most of the time you should be fine letting Aces go in this spot as well. It’s not like your only options are to give up on Aces entirely or jam every flop with them. Recognize that they’re the best but not invincible and play them that way.

    @CJ.1998X.Y.Z

    @@MrJoosebawkz true and in online small stakes I’ll shove all day. But when I’m playing live poker I just can’t handle the variance. It takes so much effort to win back a buy in I can’t handle losing it all in one go. I’ve had too many entire stacks lost. Btw I only play mid stakes cash games. I try to avoid calling an all in unless I have a set or higher. I know that’s probably hurting my win rate but I’ve only been into poker for the last year and haven’t built up the guts to see myself losing multiple buy ins during a session.

    @@docwillis1443 that’s heads up pre-flop. Sure. And if it’s small stakes online I’m shoving all day. I’m not saying they don’t win 8/10 times I’m saying it’s rare to actually win much money with them.
