Ace vocally sounds the same as He did in the 70s. His peculiar and awkward cadence has a Raw charm to it. When you think of Rock and Roll, Operatic Wagner type vocals dont come to mind. Thematically He kept it simple and almost sounds like a long love letter to his GF, Its borderline introspective ; vulnerable and Romantic even if his singing is nowhere near Barry Manilow. Bottom line, Ace is a Survivor and I applaud his Gumption and effort. I enjoy it for what it is and I believe this album may grow on some ppl who are still in a time warp. Appreciate Ace while We have him , He has beaten a ton of odds and honestly speaking You cant name a LIVING American Guitarist who is more influential than Him.

Ace doesn’t so much sing as much as yell. Because of his musical style, I think a lot of people expect rock singing. Ace’s vocals are more of a Punk style.

He's always gonna be awesome, but it's nostalgia now, just like KISS. Huge fan, dude- why does KZread keep unsubbing me? WTF Keep rockin, Ralph 🤘

You guys need to let this album grow on you a bit. I think Ace's 10,000 album is thoroughly enjoyable; 45 years ago I would never have imagined sitting here enjoying new music from my favorite spaceman! A Frehley album has never been a technical marvel, and the cheese factor gets a little high at times - but you can feel his heart and soul brewing throughout the entirety of 10,000 Volts in particular. Paul and Gene, of Ace's former band, are probably jealous of this album. 10,000 Volts: catchy as hell Walkin' on the Moon: love the riffs - indulgent space cheese! Cosmic Heart: dark & moody, I really love that this could have fit THE ELDER, no cap; AmIriiiiiight? Maybe even better than Dark Light. Cherry Medicine: the grinding guitar gives me goosebumps, so groovy! Back into My Arms Again: Frehley's Comet era sound for sure, but it is decently fleshed out Fightin' for Life: wow, forget about Stella, Ace got his groove back! I also hear Stevie Nick's I Need To Know here. Blinded: probably my least fave or memorable, but great guitars Constantly Cute: cute. could have pumped more energy by extending those perky chorus lead-ins (You are, you are) Life Of A Stranger: a cover of a dark song that I haven't heard before, but I dig it for a change of pace for Ace Up in the Sky: great solo ................ but weak akin to Blinded, not all that memorable Stratosphere: a gorgeous aural adventure that has a few cool Shock Me moments as it sunsets Score: 9/10 on its own, but 10/10 for a Frehley album - I feel Ace lives up to his "best album since 1978" bravado. 👏⭐🌟🌠🌌

"10,000 Volts" Decent tune but the riff was stolen from Sound Garden "MY Wave" "Walking On The Moon" It's okay but the white costume Ace is wearing is "Udder" amazing! "Cherry Medicine" I hate this tune, bubble gum cheese. "Fightin For Life" has a classic, Ace guitar solo and cool riff. I liked this one a lot. Ace Frehley has the same kind of vocal approach as Tom Petty, He kind of talks through his songs. It worked perfectly on his 78' solo album. It also worked really well on a lot of tunes over his entire career. I've always wished he would find a vocalist that had more a deeper voice vocal. "Cold Gin" sounds much better with Gene's vocals. Strange Ways sounded amazing with Peter Criss vocals. What made Kiss a so powerful back in the 70's was the fact that they were 4 wheel drive. Great video. I loved hearing you guys talk about this album. I can't wait to hear this album from top to bottom. thanks for the entertaining video. Peace. Joe

Fighting for life sounds sped up a bit. If it was slowed down it would sound more like “Hard times”. The instrumental needed to be longer. The fact the album lists both ACE and Steve “guitars” leaves the door too open for me.

First time through and I think it kicks ass. I wasn’t expecting much from Ace vocally but they have exceeded my expectations. I have it cranked up like how it’s obviously meant to be played 😂… Definitely the best disc since Anomaly. The Origins 1 and 2 kick ass but those are covers so I don’t consider those the same. And If ACE didn’t play guitar on this I don’t want to know. 😂

I love Ace, but I only like him singing a few songs on his albums, as he should have had another lead vocalist doing the majority of the songs. My brother sadly works at Walmart lol, so I'll get him to grab me a copy in the morning and give it a try. It will be interesting to see how he plays these songs live, because his live footage has been cringe worthy at times lately. Great show guys, have a great weekend !!!

Sooo....if it's not Ace playing it's false advertising lol. I know Steve Brown had a lot to do with this album and how it was produced. He might have played the rhythm on some of the songs. The leads mostly sound like Ace but as far as a sound standpoint I think it's produced well. I love Ace and he's always been a part of my musical journey since I was 7 and I'm 52 now. I couldn't stand Paul and Gene putting Tommy and Eric in their make up ! I haven't spent a dime on Kiss since the first farewell tour for that reason alone. All that being said, I liked 10,000 volts. I've only listened to Cosmic heart, 10,000 volts, fighting for life and back into my arms. I think those songs rock ! I didn't like Cherry Medicine, Walking on the moon or Constantly cute. Stratosphere is a decent instrumental in the Fractured mirror tradition. I didn't really care for blinded either. I always thought Ace had a cool sounding voice and vocal delivery but I think it would have been a good idea to let his drummer sing a few songs so Ace can focus on the guitar playing. Like I said, I'm an Ace Frehley die hard Kiss fan since I got Kiss Alive on Christmas morning of 1977. I've noticed also that Ace has lost a few steps in the past couple years. His live shows have been pretty rough lately playing and singing wise. I know he's 72 and not the 27 year old Ace anymore but it seems like he's really slowed down the tempo on a lot of songs when playing live. It appears like he's not into it anymore and just going through the motions live. He was always a little sloppy but that's what gave Kiss their classic sound. It seems like it's dragging a bit when he plays songs like parasite and Love gun live these days. If I'm going to spend hard earned $ to see him live I at least want to hear those classic songs at the proper speed. It seems like he's got a lot of people around him that kiss his ass and really don't have his best interests at heart. I'm not crazy about Johnny O and his new girlfriend. He's also said he owes the IRS 200,000$ or he can't go overseas which might explain a few things. It's kinda sad to see your idols and childhood hero's getting old but we are all getting old. Still, I wish he'd put a little more energy into his performances lately. Even Shock me live sounds like it's dragging lately. I love Ace and I'm not knocking him. I'm happy he's still putting out new music. I don't think he really has a choice but to keep touring constantly being that he has IRS trouble. Small clubs and theater's don't make anywhere near the amount of $$ that an 15,000 seat sold out arena does. I'm pretty sure that's why he wanted 250,000 $ a piece for the last two Kiss shows at MSG. I know celebrity net worth says he's worth 1,000,000 $ but who really knows ? I don't see how he can afford to drive a Bentley. I'm sure he makes $ on the meet and greets and merchandise but nowhere the amount Kiss does. I think Ace is Awesome and he will always be the only spaceman for me. I don't think he's even worth a million dollars honestly. How can he be broke after 3 world tours with Kiss ? I realize a lot can happen in 20+ years especially when u have an addiction problem and love to gamble. He should have hid a few million somewhere when he still had it. He was worth millions $ when he left Kiss in 2002. What the hell happened to all his $$ ? I know a million doesn't go as far as it used to but put 2 million $ in an offshore bank account, get a financial advisor and invest in some properties or just buy it outright. I just don't understand probably because I've never been rich or had a million dollars. Anyway, rant and review over gentlemen. 👍🤘

Yes this album received way too much prior acclaim. Maybe Ace thought it was that good. That’s his opinion. Just wish people could stop COMPARING to the old Ace. They’re two different entities & can’t be compared. Maybe we should just go in with NO expectations & be more open & accepting what’s there. There’s plenty of things I don’t like about every album since Anomoly but that doesn’t make them a bad album & I still like them. Think his only bad album was Frehley Comet “Second Sighting”. He’s also 50 years older than the old Ace. He will sound different. I actually like this album except for maybe 3 tracks. Yes the solos could have been better, but the vocal range is what it is. Just be more accepting of each new album & stop comparing!

The mix on 10,000 volts sounds weird, over produced the guitars are buzzy and muddy the drums have this " clacky" sound that makes them sound unnatural. I think most Ace fans would prefer a stripped down, old school sound like his 80s sound.

What does possibly this bald guy who never listened to any Frehley's albums have to offer? "Meh, the vocals are terrible". The vocals are not terrible, you just don't understand this music at all. You don't understand it. And you don't have to because everyone has a personal taste but hey, you was invited to discuss a new Ace's album and you don't know the topic at all and still talk quite a lot :) I dunno, it's kinda silly.
