Thanks for the review & valuable feedback @LIDAR3D I agree with you, in our world of Architecture & Scan2BIM, the key is accuracy and export capabilities, but I can see a wide application of this 3D assets for XR in the metaverse, gaming & marketing arenas for starters. It's up to the app devs now to enable users to capture & extract the 3D data we need from the hardware & software running on iOS 16.

Thanks a lot for the feedback and input! I totally agree that there are already hundreds if not thousands of use cases for this development. It will be interesting to see how the iPhone 14 will perform. I used the iPhone 12 Pro here.

@@LiDAR3D hi im using it on Iphone 14 PRO , PolyCAM PRO, and theres a lot of file extension, and it looks great while scanning,,,, but the accuracy its awful, and i mean for real and profesional measurement purposes you cant trust, and i want to THANK YOU, you are at least the only one who doubts the accuracy of the app on the whole KZread.. everyone else sales this app like The Biggest Thing Since Powdered Milk.

Hi, your video is very good. Is it possible to use Lidar sensor and convert the file to dwg? To use in autocad 3D Thanks

Hi! Thank you for your kind message! There is no automatic conversion to dwg within the app. It can export 2D image files and 3D meshes in obj, dae, fbx and other formats. Our team that specializes in converting scans and other data into professional grade drawings like DWG, Revit, SketchUp and other. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us by email for more details. Hello, as an architect. Id suggest function. That you upload simple .dwg floor plan in scale 1-1 in metric or imperial preset. For me metric for example. And than do scann, which would be having exact dwg as a bacground. During scanning, it would be automatically catching surfaces according to dwg. Or even some 3d obcets. Like I meassuer by laser distance between some beams at attic or let say some known objects, this I upload as a base. And than Polycam would use it as a reference and keep gooing with rest.

Maybe. Having a good quality dwg would almost defeat the purpose of scanning but if you have it - why not. Looks like the quality of the scans get better with iPhone 15 pro max and the vision pro will probably be even more accurate and visually better. I can see how it would be good you as an architect to scan post project completion. Very interesting to see if there are any differences between the model/drawings and the final build, and also just to have it for documentation and potential as a starting point for a digital twin.

In all honesty all LiDAR Apps Are Limited by the technical limits of the apple hardware. I find all apps that claim to have precise LiDAR scans to be even borderline lying! Maybe it is fine for having a 3D scan to Spin instead of photos but not mesh that is precise enough to model from I do find Trnio LiDAR + Photogrammetry to be much more usable and precise

Would be interesting to know what you are scanning and modeling and your tolerance level for accuracy. Trnio is also built on the same iOS platform but it uses Photogrammetry in combination with pure Apple LiDAR which was tested in this video. We did another video about the pros and cons of different techniques for capturing buildings that you can find here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZH9l1bKEqN20npc.html

You'll need to download and install the Polycam app (or another reality capturing app that has this feature) and use the "room mode" setting when scanning. Hope this helps!

Agreed. What is your tolerance for accuracy? Semi automatic and fully automatic scan to cad solutions have been on this level (95%) for almost a decade so I was expecting more from the LiDAR enabled RoomPlan. Would the raw LiDAR results be good enough for you if they were carried over to the CAD file? We released a new video yesterday about how you can improve the accuracy of iOS LiDAR scans. Would be interesting to get your take on it. Thanks for watching!
