Accessible EPUBs: Updates to InDesign 19.4

There have been a number of key updates to the way that InDesign exports EPUBs in the past six months or so. A small group that I am part of have been advocating directly with the InDesign team since February 2022 and we are seeing the fruits of that labour. If you regularly make ebooks from InDesign, you will be familiar with some of the changes. I hope to explain the why of some of shifts in this video.

Has anyone done any testing of the page navigation on more complex books i.e. sidebars and fullpage images to see what kind of choices InDesign makes? I know this was a bit fraught using the pagestaker script.

The page navigation feature is much better in the pre-release already. The most egregious thing the export does is to skip blank pages.
