Acceptance Not Working For Anxiety? Avoid This CRITICAL Mistake

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Many people hear acceptance is the way towards anxiety recovery. But what Shaan find's is that most people use acceptance as a tool to avoid their anxiety.
In this video, Shaan breaks down this common, critical mistake when people are on their anxiety recovery and healing journey.
Let me know in the comments below if you have any questions/concerns and I'll do my best to answer your questions.
This video is intended to be for educational purposes, not diagnosing. You should work with a physician to seek a medical diagnosis.

This really worked for my physical symptoms. Now I am trying to use the same approach for mental chatter that is still somewhat present. Anxiety is a very tricky mind game.

Do the very best you can to focus on present moment, I know it doesn’t seem real at times, but it is. It’s the same reason why when we watch YT or play video games that we can feel really good, because we’re living in the moment, not caring about the anxiety. We are living our lives. It takes time, but if you retain your focus you can do it. Don’t give up!

You are really and really helping people: Giving people their lives back. I mean, nobody ever explained to me what acceptance really means. I always did it the wrong way and never realized I am using it as a method and damaging myself everyday with even more and more fear. You explained it in this video so clearly and it all made sense. Thank you so much! I finally felt like I was living and breathing normally during an anxiety attack.

This is so brilliantly explained. I do this a lot and the key is to always stay present. So as soon as I feel anxious I remind myself that I am resisting and wanting the feeling to go away. By just staying present and watching it (accepting it), it goes away. But I can always tell if I'm truly accepting or not because if it stays, I know that I'm not accepting. I'm wishing it would go away.....which keeps it there as you stated.

@@ulquiorra1235 I'm hesitant there and I'll tell you why- through my journey in therapy, it's becoming apparent to me my response mechanism were shaped during my broken childhood and how I eventually created a shell of patterns as a "defense" during adulthood. The anxiety framework fits differently in subjective experiences. If I were to share one of my own pieces of advice/ insight from my journals and it doesnt really fit you, it might only end up derailing you or maybe intensify your symptoms even more when it's totally unnecessary and might not even be relevant for you during this state where the mind is already working overtime to fix this. And at times my own advices werent good for me myself! I dont want to do that to anyone. Unless done under expert guidance i dont feel it's a good idea to tag along with others in this journey even if its tempting (as harsh as it sounds even I've been there, tried to do that...). Goodluck to you my man. Except what's being discussed out here in this channel, I dont think I will add anything and I feel it's for your own good that I don't do it and the same vice versa.

But dont take medication untill any real medical problem. Just consider the thoughts to be bubbles which will pop one day.

That’s not real acceptance, real acceptance would be to do nothing about it. Fear it, yes, it is scary I used to be there 24/7 just like you, but that’s the point of acceptance, accept that you’re scared but don’t do anything about it, don’t fight it. If your fighting it or trying to fix it, you’re not accepting.

@leonid Ivanov it was like hell to me.but yes, bro just continue living the day. I went to different doctors and they all told me that it was just in my mind. So one day I was sitting in the garden and just think about my thoughts, it was just like going through some scrap (as I consider them) but in the end I know that they would not harm me because they are just thoughts.
