    You can purchase plastic pop-in bushings, that come in various sizes from 1/2 in to 3 in. really is easy to install and puts a stop to all these shorts, so stop by an electrical supply store and buy several of each size, and you'll be glad you did, plus it makes for a more professional looking job.     Bryant/Carrier Tripped Breaker Due to Faulty( Contactor) at outside unit,replaced with new part , FIXED THE PROBLEM

    Usually there’s a rubber grommet that covers the hole where the wires pass..

    Yeah definitely was. Everything worked fine until I would put the cover back on the electrical panel then it would trip the breaker. So I knew something was touching somewhere. But had to dig to find the problem.

    Never understand why Techs dont carry bushings and wire. Just replace the dam 6' piece of wire. Electrical tape is not going to hold more than a couple years when exposed to the elements. Or at least buy some liquid rubber you can paint on the splice or even some outdoor wirenuts that have silicone inside to block moisture from the connection....
