What’s funny about this is that it is typical of Australia. All these guys are from elsewhere but Australia will call them their own. We do that with others from NZ as well. I’m born and bred Oz but this always makes me laugh. Mind you, the boys from Scotland also loved Australia. So I guess it cuts both ways. Cheers, Dub.

Saw them october 1978 in Switzerland, one of my first concerts ever - and of course with Bon Scott. Saw them again on the Back in Black tour with Brian and later a couple of times again. But if ever I listen to AC/DC it's 100% Bon Scott - grew up with them from their first album and it's just Bon's voice I want to hear if I listen to the band. Not that Brian is bald, far from this, but I just prefer Boon's voice and character ♥

It was just the beginning, then. After Bon they had to change more to accommodate Brian Johnson's singing. Kinda the more things change, the more they stay the same thing. So singer, producers & behind the scenes w/Bon's family 's blessing to continue on they were not stopping.
You just witnessed and watched the greatest rock band of all time! No band now days could hold a candle to these guys. If you are in a rock band now days, take notes because this is how you rock!
I still believe this band is not only my favourite rock band of all time, but could possibly be the best ever live band full stop!!! Especially in those days where Angus and Bon were the true Live Wire combo. A very special band that will stand the test of time. Cheers for the video 🎸👌

I was at this gig, as I was at many back in the late 70’s, and while their live performances were legendary they always took second place to the original Status Quo line-up. No one rocked the old Apollo theatre harder than the mighty Quo back in the day. Did AC/DC become the bigger band globally, yes. Did AC/DC sell more records globally, yes. Were AC/DC a great live band , yes. But no one ever got close to Quo live.
Old school Acca Dacca with Bon Scott oozing charisma and Angus on fire. This is the epitome of Aussie pub rock from the seventies. Glad you have discovered it.

They knew they were recording and filming it for the live album and pulled out all the stops that night. Unlike all other live albums where the best songs were taken from different dates on the tour this was taken from just one gig, Glasgow Appollo 1978. Only other artist to have done that to my knowledge is Frank Marino's 'Real Live' album which is pretty fantastic as well.. I have to admit to not getting any AC/DC albums after Bon Scott died, they were good but not the same.

What Brian Johnson had going for him at least in the US is that few people had yet to really be turned on to AC/DC yet. I had been listening to them since about 1977 when I was 12. When I got into Junior High in 1978 no one had heard of them or even listened Hard Rock/Metal except for me and a couple of my friends. In the fall of 1980 when we went back to school kids were asking me if I had heard of this new band AC/DC and their album "Back in Black". They didn't have a clue about Bon Scott.
IMO This is a perfect Rock N Roll song.

The live music rock bands put out from pubs in Australia in this period is incredible. It's great when a recording catches a band in their absolute prime of their youth. I was a kid of the 80's but it was stuff like hearing this live in early 80's that made me recognize AC/DC as one of greatest rock bands of this era in Australia. But the become so big they just tour internationally for rest of their careers but guess in their youth of the 70's the mainly did they nightly craft in pubs in Australia and some tours to UK like this one to Scotland. Been some amazing Scotiish born Australians that emigrated to Australia with their family and did the pub circuit here for years to master their craft. RIP Bon Scott... what a perfect front man for this band in this time. I think he actually said, if anything happens to me get Johnson as the lead singer and they did. Back in Black the album dedicated to him and first album with the new lead singer. For me though as a kid of 80's I liked both lead singer for this band.

Don't get me wrong Brian was a fantastic replacement at vocals. But Bon Scott was the man, I saw the Highway to Hell tour 3 months prior to Bon's passing (rip) will never forget it. Blue Oyster Cult opened that show, this is another great thing about this band they were never afraid of having a great opening act, they were quite comfortable with who they were as a band. I later saw them with Brian singing and Kings X was the opening band, too many other bands were afraid of acts like this because they didn't want to get upstaged.🎸🎵🎤🔥

The best live concert by a single band ever.
AC/DC at it's Very Best!!👍
Listening to AC/DC with Bon Scott is so amazing. Brian is for sure the very best replacement they could find. He is a great, a superb guy. But nobody reaches Bon. With him the energy they had is even much much greater. I wish i would have been there... but even on YT you feel all the brutal energy, they had. (and still have - ACDC still is the most powerful rock-n-roll-band on this planet. Nobody reach them, now. And nobody could do it then, 46 years ago.
ROCK AND ROLL. You gott'm both!!!

Saw them in Columbus, Oh about 4 months before Bon died. I love Brian but Bon will always be my favorite. 🫡🤘🏼❤️
I saw AC/DC Highway to Hell tour and 79, with Bon Scott and Scott concert is still probably the best I’ve ever been too
