Yep. IMO, Brian is one of the few replacement lead singers in rock history who has managed to top the band's original lead singer (in this case, the legendary Bon Scott). No disrespect to Bon, but Brian just fit AC/DC like a custom suit.

Angus' sound come from the volume he plays at. It's just the natural overdrive of a Marshall pegged. And its beautiful.

@@IHateIdiots21 No, it isn't at all. Angus usually plays with a decent amount of gain, only cleaned up by his lower output pickups. Also, from 1977 onward he used the Schaffer Vega Diversity System's pre-amp both live and in the studio to add boost and compression, which gave him the attack and fatness he likes. I hate how much people suggest Angus plays clean and just cranks the amp, because it just isn't true. Even on the Back In Black album his amps were recorded pretty quiet, sometimes down to around 2 or 3 on the master volumes (most of his JTM-45s were heavily modded, and he also often uses 100W Super Leads with master volumes as well). The only person who ever played just clean and loud in AC/DC is Malcolm. Angus has always preferred more gain, and you can really hear it on albums like Let There Be Rock, Powerage, Back In Black, and The Razors Edge. People seriously need to do some research before they make such bold, incorrect assertions. Hell, Angus' gain was even on 4 or 5 in the Rig Rundown from 2016, and that's not even factoring in the Schaffer Replica before the amp.

AC/DC is like one of the toughest and most badass sounding bands there is whether it be Bon or Brian

Angus does what a great guitarist does, he plays along with the song and to the music. Whereas many of the so called "shredders" later in the decade did the exact opposite, didn't play within the song and would play over the music. It's no wonder many of them are forgotten while Angus is still rollin along.

The main thing AC/DC wants from a singer is for them to throw all their energy into every note they sing. That's why they liked Bon, and that's why they like Brian.

The real reason is he had a falling out with mal over his drug use during the middle of recording flick of the switch mal dropped him on his ass

Thanks to the producer, director, tape op, and camera ops, who kept U-Matic copies of the Cap Centre shows for 40 years and uploaded them to YT.

I've always loved the delivery of the vocals in those verses - it's almost hip hop in its flow and rhythm. Just wonderful.

You should check out the live renditions of Back In Black from 1988, they played it so fast, MC Cap on the mic !

I love these really early Brian Johnson AC/DC live performances. His voice just sounds so raw in them I love it

This is ACDC...proud of this line up...hope Brian returns...and Phil...God bless Mal...love ACDC, there´s not gonna be another band like them, that sound is just unique...

Even though their music is not overly complex , it is astounding how Angus can play his guitar thru the whole song while also banging his head and body around . I imagine after a concert, Angus must be totally depleted of energy.

probably their (Brian) best tour Phil was still there and his drums had that punch, Brian still had sleeves, that badass swagger and voice to match, the setlist was prime This show needs to be remastered and released entirely

I was 20 in 81 and lovin AC-DC! Angus and Malcolm are the greatest duo guitarists of all time. I saw them In 78 with Bon Scott! Great Memories.

Everyone is top of their game here. The guitar tone is insane- like perfect razor wire on the verse lick. Phil is just killing it in the pocket. The snare thud/crack is so rock and roll. Check out his snare arm swing at 1:02 LOL he is a beast!

He gets back so smooth to the lyrics when he sings wrong, brian is an absolute legend

He used to sing alternative lyrics from 1980 to 1986, in 88 he started to sing it more accordingly to the studio version Won't, I prefer the alternative ones, they flow better live

Bon Scott rising...a demon. Both Scott and Johnson are distinctive and unique talents- AC/DC delivered the impossible -seamlessly.

Would also contend that Brian still sounded pretty good through Who Made Who, notably on Fly on the Wall, in spite of the production. I have a hard time listening to The Razor's Edge due to his noticeably deteriorated voice.

Hats off to this performance! Try to listen the rhythm section over the Angus's solo, you could heard a hammer in face of Mal, Rudd and Cliff. Cliff also trying to grooving at 2:05. Amazing live performance

For those not in the know. Their lead singer Bon Scott had died 2 years earlier hence the name of their return album "Back in Black" meaning they were in mourning over his loss.
