Bird art by Cass: www.casswomack.com
Fashion is a fickle beast that molds and shifts with time, spawning new styles ranging from the modest and practical to the wacky and eccentric. This video will focus on the latter, and with the birth of human civilization giving rise to social structure thousands of years ago, there are no shortage of bizarre trends throughout history! First we'll dive into the bizarre trend of a fake limp, taking after an iconic princess of the age. To follow that up, we'll explore one of the pointiest fashion trends: Crakows. Finally, we'll learn why there was a period of time where everyone was crazy for pineapples!

That painting by king Charles is actually a massive honor for that gardener. To be immortalized forever like that is difficult and it's likely the gardener couldn't have afforded a portrait like that anyway. Pretty cool
@skyetoddmakeup
Жыл бұрын
Dude, the gardener wasn't painted by King Charles. He was literally part of the painting to show the glory of the King. It's the same as when white people were painted with slaves pointing to them or handing them something on a platter. It was to glorify the white person and show that they were rich enough to own slaves. The gardener is literally just set dressing. I don't remember if his name is remembered or there is a record of it, I hope there is, but he will have been completely overlooked by much of history. It was an honor, yes. But it's not exactly the way you described.

That thing with the Pineapples is actually very similar to Tulips. Beloved for their beauty, prices for still living bulbs skyrocketed during and after a tulip plague, causing them to be seen as status symbols with the wealthy having massive sects of their gardens dedicated to them. Funny thing is that tulip sellers eventually began taking pre-orders for them, proven in the form of vouchers which could later be turned in or even sold to someone else for a profit, leading to an actual speculative market on tulips... a speculative market on flowers, which obviously eventually crashed.

@@tcp8946 it’s laughably ironic that people like you will cry out that Mass shootings are solely caused by lone wolf crazies and yet also mock anyone seeking help for mental health, call any efforts to help them socialism, and insist that guns stay freely available to them. Let’s say 10% of people claiming a different _nuerotype_ (not a mental illness to be ADHD, for example). I’d rather waste some resources on a handful of people _while ensuring the safety of everyone else_ and making them better utilized by society (a healthy mind and body are required to work at peak efficiency) than have hoards of less effective, less happy, more dangerous people going around undiagnosed, unmedicated, and self-isolated. Therefor I must support mental health programs- you can have bad national mental health, you can have easy access to guns, but you can’t have both in a stable, safe society.

@@Jessie_Helms No, I don't care even a little bit. First of all, most of those shooters are likely government experiments (James Holmes, Ted Kazinkski, etc.) And the ones who aren't NEWS FLASH: SIHT HAPPENS. If you want mass shootings to go away (anything over 2 people killed or wounded) then get rid of gun free zones and allow people the right to defend themselves. Over 95% of mass shootings (if you don't include gang violence which accounts for almost all gun violence) happen in Gun Free Zones. These maniacs know where to go so they can get away with it. You can't control crazy. That's the definition. While my comment was obviously referring to people like you who claim to be an advocate or victim of some nebulous "mental illness", (no one ever has a single disease these days, just """""mental illness""""), you brought up something completely irrelevant to shoehorn in your faulty politics. The second amendment is a god given right to defend yourself. Your feelings aren't. Deal with it. Also that literally is not what irony is lol.

Hey Bluey! Got an idea for a topic- inspired by your image of King Charles II de Spain- abnormalities of royalty (you know, because of all the inbreeding, errrr BLUE BLOOD CRAP) like the Habsburg Jaw (so attractive) featured on Chucky boy. There’s a plethora of deformities to showcase and make us all incredibly grateful to not be of royal bloodlines. Like Czar Nicholas’ son and hemophilia, oh and also worth mentioning, how the entire royal clan of Europe was literally related within 1-2 bloodlines! Queen Vicky’s relations were all running various countries- so much so that Tsar Nicholas and King George looked like freaking twins separated at birth. I’m always stunned by how few people are aware of this and let’s be honest, the humor that presents itself is practically unending. Just thought I’d toss out an idea (which could honestly be 2-3 separate features) to maybe inspire you for more vids!!
Nice touch to include the (presumably arsenic ridden) green wallpaper in your Victorian settings!
Don't forget that Dole used to have a different company name and decided to rebrand after doing a bit of military coups and genociding in central america... oh and that they were one of the leading reasons why Hawaii was forced to cede land to America because they needed new land after the people in central america were tired of being murdered by fruit companies and threw them out...

Few know that bit of history or that the US Marines went down the South America to kill, I mean steal the farmers land for fruit. General Smedley Butler USMC wrote about this disgusting practice for the united fruit company. Then the US wonders why they hate us?

Always baffles me why people continue to buy those brands even today. It's not like stuff like Nestle or Coke's crimes are secret.

@@kid14346 Even now, in the age where we can order things online and have them delivered direct to us, freeing us from the limitations of what local stores would stock with? People are fucking stupid.
1:45 Facing a russian T-34 on the eastern front is going to be feasible in a few months time actually.
People back then, if they saw trend, would also think our trend is absurd.

We need this back. If celebrities can wear these goofy clothes we can bring these back
0:54 he is a gangstar not a king, but he does share having a dream with Martin Luther King
I think Jay may have lost his mind, but it’s hilarious and I love it
I always love it when you make sequels of great videos
Man, I get so excited every time a new video drops! Never disappoints! Thanks Jay!
This is my favorite video. The art work, the shorts, the comedy, the content. It is all so perfect
The witch one is litteral example of "if you say anything with enough confidence someone is going to believe you"
Happy New year and love your content.
1:36 not as popular as the ice coated uniform though
I was sure that Tim would have gotten a Protection Order against Prof. Blue Jay for what whole "kidnapping and radiation" thing.
Imagine an archaeologist in a thousand years digging up some hand crafted shoes that have been clearly, deliberately built to mess up someone's stride. What would you ever make of that?
10:20 I was finna be mad as fuck if ain't no one mention these

You got it!!
I love how you cranked up the jokes! Really good stuff your recent videos 👌
Crakows had several names in England, including Poilenes (the french loan for the name of the shoes which is actually quite long and well you can just go to the wiki page) as well as pointers points claws etc etc. There were a shit ton of names to the point where if it was a shoe, other than boot, in medieval europe, its most likely just a poilenes named in the local slang
1:50 I was half expecting him to say if you want to achieve this fashion I recommend going to Ukraine
The three-button "rule" is actually just common sense - if you have to use the buttons, and just one of them, on most people the suit/blazer looks better when the middle button is used. The upper button causes a quite big gap to occur lower down in the front, and use of the lower button only may cause the upper parts to be a bit bubbly.
Happy new year BlueJay, thanks for adding to the good start!
The Foley work in this video is amazing! Well done, Mr. Jay, well done.
