Looking at art, whether you like it or not is actually not a waste of time. It is one of the more meaningful things you can do for yourself. If you are open to knowing your inner self, growing as a human and expanding your inner horizons, art can tell you much about yourself. Ask yourself why you didn’t like it. Was it the choice of colors? The unpredictability? The looseness of the painting? Did it remind you of something? Did it give you bad feelings, and what were those feelings? Art can open closed doors and memories within ourselves, doors we would like to keep closed, but maybe the way to healing and going forward is feeling those feelings, remembering old wounds? Only if you are very brave you can look at a painting you didn’t like, and answer why. A true why. Skip the “I don’t like black”, go beyond and above and answer what black does to your mind and memories. I believe that there are no road that leads to our inner soul more than abstract paintings. It is incredible healing in watching it and feeling the feelings that rise in you. If you want to and dare to.
