In this painting tutorial I will show you the stages my abstract landscapes go through from begining to end. You will see me use acrylic paint as well as watersoluble cryons sometimes called watermedia. I will be painting two paintings at the same time and when they are finished I'll decide which one I like best :)
I use acrylic paint from different brands so my suggestion is to just use your favorite brand. If you want to take your painting to the next level I suggest you try and practise as much as possible. I paint a lot of my paintings on paper which is a nice way to save on expensive canvas and storing the finished paintings don't take up as much space either. I use smooth (hotpress) watercolor paper for these paintings but you can also use paper made specifically for acrylics.
The paper I use in the video is 110lb/160gram acid free sketchbook paper. But watercolor paper should work as well.
Throughout this video I will give you my very best painting tips such as; how to keep acrylic paint moist, how to prevent your paint from drying too quickly on your palette, how to keep your colors alive, how to use your photos as inspiration for your finished paintings.
This painting video is for beginners who want to take their painting beyond the initial first steps and for more experienced artists as well. I hope you got some value, inspiration and tips for your next painting. If you have any questions or comments please don´t hesitate to write your thoughts down below :)

Oh my god, I would be so scared to work so freely as you do, your art is really inspiring me to try and experiment more! I felt anxiety the second you went in and added those crayola ochre lines but the end result is gorgeous!

You hit the nail on the head - it making art IS scary sometimes! I try to be brave and bold and it's hard - but it is also the best feeling in the world when it works out. Thanks so much for your comment and for watching! :-)

@@TheDanishPainter Really great art , love your colour combos and the braveness :D
It's amazing to see different mediums you use in the most effective way. Watercolor + acrylic + crayons. I am impressed. Best way to create a abstract painting.
Absolutely stunning! ❤
Lovely video. Thank you for sharing.
There are thousands of painting videos, and almost all can teach us something. Only a few videos cover crucial things that I want to keep in mind whenever I paint. Your videos are in this group. Well done! Thanks!

Just stumbled across this . Love your technique and the way it all came together in the end. Thank you!
Thank You. As a plein aire landscape artist ,I am wanting to move towards abstraction and your video is spot on and inspirig!
Thank you for this clear, calm presentation. I like how you explain everything you do and why. Excellent!
I loved watching you create these paintings. I didn’t realize how many different colors you can put in a sky. When you pulled off the tape I was shocked at the result. They are both beautiful.
I admire and envy how fluidly you wield a brush! I especially like the mountain landscape but all are wonderful.
Not to offend but I like the strip of masking tape between both paintings!😊
Thank you so much for sharing your process. Beautiful art.
Wonderfully evocative paintings. Love the addition of the cool blue at the end, it really added depth. Thanks for sharing your process

I like your painting style. I don't say that often. There's so many people using supper realism these days, I'm not a fan of realistic.
I'm so excited to find this.Exactly what I've been looking for. Loose beautiful expressive landscapes with muted colour. Thank you for sharing your talent.

Hi Sarah, thank you so much for your lovely feedback and welcome to the channel. Wishing you a lovely & creative week :)
Thank you so much for this video and for your generosity in spending time to instruct, inform, and encourage us creatively. The paintings are beautiful. A sign of the arrival of autumn here in the North East of England is the flocks of geese arriving from the North in their V formation calling to each other. Once again thank you. Colin. England.

Yes we also have flocks of Geese and Swans heading south. And huge flocs of Starlins (I think that's what they are called)
So helpful to watch your process. Thank you!
they are both very beautiful, but i tend to favor the bottom one more... really like the shapes in the land and the color combinations and contrasts down there.. and the sky has some really beautiful moments from left to right I love the light shade moving upwards toward the muted grays.. thank you for sharing!
Absolutely stunning. Thank you

Lovely painting and technique. As people interested in art, we all love to buy materials, some of which we never use. This is a great way to incorporate those paint kits we forgot. Thanks for the inspiration.

Definitely give et a go. Doing many smaller landscapes at the same time really helps me stay loose and more abstract. Otherwise I tend to easily get lost in too much detail.
Really nice work. I love it! Thank you for your videos. I really like to watch them.

Hello Marie Louise. I am slowly working through all your videos and also follow you on Instagram. You are the first artist that has inspired me to try acrylic. I paint abstract landscapes In Watercolours and soft pastels. However after watching your use of the crayons, I have started doing more mixed media to my watercolours. I don’t know yet if I will try acrylics, but you are helping me with branching into a looser style with watercolours. Thank you so much. I absolutely love love love your style. Greetings from Australia

First time I have viewed your channel. Your creations are wonderful, thank you for posting they are really beautiful. Thanks so much John! I actually started out with watercolours years ago. Then transitioned into oils and then acrylics. I’m told by others that they can see I started out being a watercolourist because of the layers and subtle shifts in color and I guess that true. My first love of watercolour stayed with me all this time. I still do the occasional watercolour painting but mostly it’s acrylics now. Thanks for the encouragement and for watching! 🎨🎨 Cheers Marie Louise

Stumbled upon your site. Your English is better than many Americans. And your ability to explain your decisions as you paint is priceless. I’m currently working with mono prints but found much to glean from your process. Feels like I found an old friend…your muted palette, landscapes, and style very much resonate. Thank you for sharing your dedication to this work. I’ll be digging in. Do you sell/ ship your pieces? 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Wonderful, thank you
