I always enjoyed painting without any visual subject constraints. That process I find most pleasing; when things take form and resonate with me what the dynamic of the piece reverberates in its essences. Yes, it begins to become more difficult for the details to transpire. When it does the results are very rewarding and the process; therapeutic.🧑🎨♾️🗝️❤️⭐️

Well said! Thanks so much for sharing that!
Have watched Betty for awhile now, and I think this is the first time I've watched her do a 'purpose' (field of flowers) piece. All the others are classic abstract pieces, where she seems to be flying by the seat of her pants, and produces what is going to be whatever it finishes as, which is always a great finished product. This type of art, (purposeless abstract) doubles as a beneficial physical activity also- Betty is active, make no mistake about it.

I love watching your whole process. I have recently begun to rework a lot of old paintings that I thought were just awful bad messes so they ended up stacked in a pile, in a corner forgtten... They are getting new life... and the lesson learned, there's no such thing as a bad painting wait a bit and it will come :-)

At 23:20, you painted the 4 and a half orange oblong marks yellow. Then at 27:10 you made them green. Right up to the moment they became green, they looked like Banksias in full bloom. Banksia’s are native Australian flora. They come in many colours but the colours orange and yellow are quite common in Western Australia around Perth. Now you can add some bits of Australia to your fields of flowers.

Loved this painting and watching you create it! Pity we can't get the paints in Australia as I like the pastel colours. I've cleared a section of wall space in my small craft room to hang plastic and medium size canvases, bought some .5 mm plastic yesterday. I usually do smaller ones on my table but it doesn't fit the bit larger ones. I love your style of painting, haven't got the hang of it just yet shall keep at it. I'm retired so no pressure, just enjoying myself and filling lots of empty walls in my house.

I used to do that when it came time to add color & shading to my drawings with colored pencil, it is so hard to decide colors when you know you can't "take it back" :)
I dont paint large art yet but I use a small white board to mix my paints. Works good! You can get very large ones at pretty good prices. Works great!
@BettyFranksArt
2 жыл бұрын
Great tip, Raye! Does the paint come off easily from the white board?
@yopestevens1505
2 жыл бұрын
@@BettyFranksArt Glass panels make the best palettes, imo. Paint spread and mix-ability is about the same as plastic, but stay in place better. Far superior when knife-painting, too. (Btw, where IS your knife?) Wipes up easy if paint is wet, if dry just re-wet, wait a minute, then go at it with a razor made for scraping paint off windows. If it's REALLY caked, soak it in some vinegar water. Impatient painters such as yourself :) should have several on hand at all times! Added bonus to clean glass for beginners is that you can paint it, then hold it over your WIP to check which color(s) should be here, or maybe there.
So inspiring, thank you so much. Love your being in the flow style. Have you tried the app procreate. I think it would serve the purpose.🌸

Hi Betty you are very inspiring because I am also an intuitive painter. I have no visual memory ( aphantasia) so couldn’t possibly visualise what I a, trying to do. I am wondering how you attach your canvas to the wall?
@BettyFranksArt
2 жыл бұрын
I'm so sorry to hear that, Judy. Sounds like you need to keep a reference at hand...and that's okay! For hanging my canvas on my painting wall, I used long screws (I think they were 3") in the studs that stick out about a half inch. Then I just hang the canvas on them. Super easy and so convenient!
Seems your paint is much better quality than what I’m using , but I’m in Australia, no nova paint for sale here . :(

@@BettyFranksArt Thank you for responding. I like the mood thing being the driving force. I find myself sometimes picking colors with no ryhme or reason and they come out chaotic. I was thinking I may have to really think out what I put on my palette beforehand even though I like to just go with the flow and let my intuition guide me.
