    May I just say, you are hands down the best teacher! I am taking your Field of Flowers course and it is so inspiring,informative and relaxing. Too many teachers rush through the process and forget we don’t paint as fast as them. You really pay attention to details! I can’t recommend your classes enough! ❤❤❤❤

    WOW! Betty that light ice blue color worked in that corner as I watched you fill that corner that color just popped . Good color for that area. I also liked your explaining of use of wood canvas . I haven't used wood before . I need to try that out as well . As it's different surfaces areas . Good to know and feeling the surface s to see top and bottom to make the wood hang properly when it's dry . Good observation on that good point tip as well. . As you used markings beginning during as you were in progress with it that's a technique I caught as well interesting. Layering effects to your artwork.

    I am a graphic designer and work on the computer mostly. Watching your videos carries me away from this "structured" world. Just watching you work gives me so much fun and stress relieve. When I paint, I do realistic stuff, but hopefully one day I will have this peace of mind to "let go" a bit and "go wild". Your colorful and cheerful videos are very inspiring to me. Thank you for this.

    I'm so happy that I can offer you some stress relieve. I think one of the reasons I love to get paint on my hands (as opposed to creating on a computer) is because working on a computer reminds me of all the jobs I've had in my life. It feels good to walk away and do something else. Thanks so much for watching!

    @@BettyFranksArt I used to be an old-fashioned sign painter before switching to graphic design. REALLY old-fashioned, no computers, plenty of paint and screen printing, and....gold leaf work. It was a great job because every day we did something different and we changed our "office" daily. We even painted once the Olympic rings onto the ice rink in Innsbruck, Austria. So, nothing is nicer than getting paint onto our hands. I am getting there thanks to your inspiration.... :)

    I find it really hard to just sit and watch a video, so I watched this one while hemming my new pants by hand. So now I not only have pants that no longer sweep my not very clean floor, but also some color combinations in my mind that I really like (I have them in a little document as well, in case I forget). I really like the orange yellow next to the yellow green, and also the pink on red - is it vermillion? next to yellow green. I think I need a new yellow and/or orange because I am sure I can't create that lovely orange yellow with what I have. I am not buying your favorite brand because I live in Europe and right now I prefer to buy paints that do not need to cross an ocean to reach me, so I'll have to do some searching.

    Glad you enjoyed the video, Sheila! On the back side, I simply add the title and my signature/year and wire them up. I don't paint the back or anything like that. Sometimes there's a little bit of paint that gets back there. I leave it because to me it looks more original than if I clean it up and make it look store bought perfect. Also, no one sees the back side once it's hung up or placed on a shelf.

    Great idea and good question! I don't wash these rags, but I sure do use them until there isn't any more room for paint to be absorbed. I don't believe machine washing will remove the paint, so when it comes out of the washer/dryer, you'll still left with areas that won't absorb paint. Thanks so much for watching and asking!

    Betty, in a recent video of a large 60x48 painting, you were mixing in plastic? Styrofoam? Bowls. Do you keep your cool and warm colors separated in your bowls? Do you at least initially use separate brushes for your cool and warm colors? I am struggling with mud. Do you use much water or medium? I wonder if my paints are put on too heavy. Because I’m getting mud 😮. Question three … are all your layers pretty thin paint??? ❤❤Thx! Ann

  • @BettyFranksArt

    @BettyFranksArt

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi Ann! When I'm working large, I tend to run out of space on my palette (table) because I mix in larger pods of color. I like to use yogurt containers or anything like that to mix colors when I run out of room or if I have all cool color on my palette, I'll start to mix warm colors in containers. That helps keep my color vibrant. If I don't want mud, I don't cross my warm and cool colors. I'll keep separate brushes handy. I hope that info helps!
