She’s saying she would not let her Christian beliefs influence her policy making and would vote to diminish equal rights. YET she says she would voted to ban gay marriage and no doubt she would vote against it if it was to come for a vote again. If she would be true to her faith like some of you suggest she is then she would therefore ban abortion and sex before marriage and as her decisions and choices are rooted in the Bible I would think stonings for women - only women - for adultery and the subjugation of women - in the church and home. In fact I’m surprised she talks in public - she obviously has permission from her husband.

Why is she being cancelled for being honest in our Christian country. Why aren't they same questions being asked of Humza or anyone standing for election election.

It’s the world we sadly live in nowadays, when people get hysterical about certain subjects and actually don’t even listen to people’s opinions, I strongly believe in certain things but if I’m discussing things and that person doesn’t agree with me I respect it and don’t want them shut down or attacked but I’ve been on the end of severe abuse many times.

Yes, and being clear and honest about your opinions is important in a contest to be given the First Minister role. In a democratic system, people have the right to choose who they vote for. In today's modern society, we want a fair and equal world, where people can make choices about their lives and accept the consequences of those choices. We do not want leadership that wants to pigeon hole us in an enforced role just because of something we have no control over. We do not want leaders who begrudge us our rights, we want leaders who will defend our rights. In our modern society, fundamental religious doctrine is out of date and either needs radical reform, or it needs to be abolished. Even if that makes the incels unhappy.

Kate Forbes said she would not be influenced by her personal opinions. Like Dan and Peter I’m a gay man and I’ve fought for equality. Jacob Rees Mogg is a Catholic and isn’t for gay marriage but I know as a gay man he holds me no ill will but there are religious regimes in the world who do us harm - in Christian Africa - a place where they send my tax money to to enable this and to the Middle East - the same. So I’m on the fence a bit - just because I see both sides. If Kate Forbes wants to run then I suggest she does - there is nothing stopping her at all. If she is popular with the voters all will go well for her.

Well said. Kate Forbes was plonked into her role as Finance Minister after dirty Deek McKay resigned in disgrace for grooming a schoolboy. She held the position bravely and intelligently. The issue for me is the rank hypocrisy from the MSM. WE all know had that been a Muslim expressing those views (homosexuality is absolutely not OK in Islam), the media would - and do - give them a free pass.

I admire her honesty, and regardless of whether I agree with her or not, she'd get my vote for having the courage and integrity to tell the truth and stand by her beliefs. There's nothing wrong with having a difference of opinion, it is wrong to lie and pretend to be someone you're not. She's got my 100% support.

It’s not the faith that matters. It’s the person and their views and if they are carrying out their constituencies and countries wishes. People are in favour of gay marriage and most people have sex before marriage and consider what they do with their body a human right with regards abortion. She is against all of those things. She has said she would have voted against gay marriage so I’m assuming she would vote against a woman’s right to choose and a sex only within marriage bill and adultery punished by what her book tells her I suppose. She should run with those ideals - if these are popular with the Scottish voter she should do well. I’m wondering what the Bible says about drink. If it’s against then she’s in trouble.

So it's not OK to have any moral views now? It is absolutely better for children to be brought up, within a stable relationship, with a father & a mother. That's statistically and demonstrably factual. If I could vote between Kate or the Muslim guy, (sorry can’t remember his name) I’d vote for Kate. The guy, seems to hate the people of Scotland, esp the “white” people of Scotland. He thinks all white Scots are racist, and that’s a horrid view, considering we are a majority white country. Let’s face it, if you’re a Christian, straight, white woman/male, then you have no chance against someone that’s on the diversity quota, and he beats her by 2 points on that by being a POC & Muslim. If he was trans, making it a hat trick, they would try to crown him dear leader forever!

My best friend is gay and in a loving, long-lasting partnership. These two happily consider themselves abnormal, I.e. different from the norm. They do not want to marry as they think it's ridiculous. Are the daft public going to stone them too? Kate will not alter the atheist laws of parliament, but she is a brave and honest person who stands up for her personal beliefs. Her God, mine too, teaches LOVE above all else. The mob show hate. Which is better?

Good on her, she's a sensible commonsense moral person. What's Tatchell doing in the interview, he's a joke.

People are assuming she can’t do her job fairly simply because she’s Christian, yet we have plenty of Muslims in offices of power yet we know their views are far more radical. And you are right they couldn’t attack a Muslims views, the only difference here that she was honest & upfront about her views, unlike many others.

Has anyone asked humza yusuf his views on gay marriage, can you expect an honest answer

Same sex couples can now be married in a church, since last years’ General Assembly of C of S, but only if the minister is agreeable, but don’t see that caveat lasting too long, not with activists like Ozanne and Tatchell around.

Leave the woman ALONE, she's every right to her opinion. I hope the people of scotland vote for this woman , she is everything that Scotland needs and wants.👍

Ah Tatchell that national treasure who wants the age of consent to be lowered to 9 years old.

Anyone can hold these views as long as it doesnt affect anyone else. I am not sure why gay couples want to have their union recognised by a religious institution that doesnt want them there in the first place, I don’t go knocking on the doors of mosques and demand that they change their beliefs to suit my lifestyle.

If Kate Forbes was a affiliated of The Scottish Family Party she would not have to defend her Christian beliefs.

In this topsy-turvy world it is all right to passionately support gay and transgender rights but not to respect a person’s religious conviction. Kate Forbes has stated her Christian belief but has not condemned anyone and certainly should not be barred from standing for the leadership of the SNP, unless, of course, those who oppose her on the grounds of religion wish to silence anyone they disagree with. Such behaviour would be welcomed in Russia, China and a host of other oppressive regimes.
