I never pictured how troubled Sarah and Abraham would have been sacrificing their only son born after the long waiting phase. The whole story of Abraham is my favorite. From the time he left Ur and got to the land of Canaan he was faithful, but still made mistakes, yet God said, he was "the friend of God" in the Bible. How incredible! If you don't have it already, there is a book called, 'Patriarchs and Prophets', by Ellen G. White. It has the story of Abraham using several chapters. It's absolutely captivating. Abraham didn't tell Sarah though. He had to have compassion for her heart and her faith or growth of such. She is mentioned in Hebrews 11 though, which is pretty telling in itself.

Wow, I have never heard that before or understood that comment to mean Christ. I also have never heard that this was the same location as Jesus' death. That is like, wow. "God will provide Himself a lamb for a burnt offering." I just always thought he was telling that to Isaac because he was going to be the offering. Thanks-for that information and new insight.
