Genki's mentality and experience are very powerful 💪🏻, because her experience has been very dangerous since she was a child, and she has also tried to die, so her past experience made her very strong and will not be easily affected. I feel that this is she has not been affected by husband's illness. On the contrary, she took the initiative to take care of two sons and wait for husband to recover. That is my love Genki reason 🥰.

It seems that the only thing she cares about is constant eating! Kintaro sometimes manages to place himself on her leg or near her, but Gentaro has been lonely since l started watching the family.

@@katerinachetirko1656 You have to understand that her constant eating is normal for gorillas. Watch Momotaro, Gentaro, Kitaro, other gorilla troops, wild and captive. They ALL eat all the time. They are herbivores. Leaves and grasses have low caloric value, so they need a lot of it to feed that bulk. As for Genki, she is STILL LACTATING AND BREASTFEEDING! That by itself reqires lots of calories. Kintaro won't be completely weaned until between ages 3 to 4. I have read that it is not unusual to see breastfeeding up to about age 7 yrs. This family unit is strong thanks to Genki and Momotaro. They just live their lives doing normal gorilla, not human, stuff.

@@yvonnejones9940 you can sugarcoat it all you want but Genki definitely has a eating problem. I bet this troop brings the zoo more money than anything else and they can’t even get a decent enclosure and that’s why . It’s already bad enough they’re prisoners for life, at least give them comfort. Is it a coincidence that the mother and father of this troop behave unnatural when it comes to food? I doubt it is.

NYCBossDonBigavell I see yr point. But can I say different opinion? When I see all other zoo’s videos Those gorilla’s live in more wild setting and surrounding with green. But I don’t know why 🤔 They all look so board 🥴 They even look sad🤔 And I get less enjoy watching their video. why Kyoto zoo Gorrila are more interesting to see even daily ? I think 🤔 there are tool and box and tire and beem ,rope ,even computer to learn number . Those stuff are stimulates Gorrila daily life. Little triangle wood to clime , Cute young lady keeper to shaking hand etc.. So therefor two boys are fun to watch . To me they act so human. Lot a female fan watching Kyoto zoo video and impressed how Genki care her children. We human can learn some from them here at Kyoto zoo that you think sucks🙄🤔

This was such a beautiful video. Genki has been my girl since day one. TEAM GENKI!!! She did that mom thing. She stayed calm, made sure her babies were ok, took care of business. I know others thought she was not worried, but best believe she was very concerned about her Momotaro and boys. I looked into her backstory, and she's had a hard life-- miscarriages, expulsion and bullying leading to self harm, starvation, death of her mother at the hands of her father, starvation. Poor girl is a drama walking. She's the one who chose Momotaro, picked him from a list of silverback pictures. Turned out to be the son of her first silverback Bijou. Guess Momo looks like his dad. And she is very attached to Momotaro. Others have remarked that she doesn't seem close to him, but she still gives him the love eyes and he returns it. She probably won't feel like mating or come into estrus again until she stops breastfeeding Kintaro, so in about another year. Female gorillas usually reproduce every 4 yrs or so (Kintaro isn't even 3 yet). She's in her 30's but still able to reproduce. I know she eats alot but she is supposed to. First, she is an obligate herbivore. Even with specialized gut bacteria, there is very little nutrition and calories in vegetation alone. I understand she likes fruits but that's what caused her tooth problems originally. Lastly, she needs extra food because she's lactating and that requires a lot of calories. I'm glad to read that Momotaro and Kintaro are doing so much better. Momo can begin to flex his muscles again (on a live stream yesterday we learned that he has put his weight back on and his belly is big and round). Kintaro is reported to have put on weight too, with a big round belly. As he destresses and sees dad outside, I'm sure he will return to his usual cute, goofy self. As for Gentaro and his relationship with his father, hopefully Momo will see him as an ally and let him be his #2 and not a challenger/rival. Time will tell. I'm so excited for this family and am tearfully praying for continued 'recovery and health. (Sorry for the long comment, just so happy!) GO TEAM GENKI!!!!!

Yvonne, I’m glad you posted backstory on Genki’s behalf. She gets a lot of unwarranted guffawing and criticism. Those who have learn about the load of traumas visited upon her, can’t help but have overwhelming love and admiration for her strength and courage and sweetness. The attack on her mother must have been horrific, but as far as I can figure, it was not by Makk, Genki’s father. He died while she was at Ueno, before she came home, almost dead herself, to her mother. Then a series of silverbacks cycled through before Hiromi died. (If anyone has more info on this, please post it.) Genki, I think, was living alone when-as the story goes-she chose Momo from a video of several prospective mates. An amazing story, maybe too humanized, but SOMEBODY SHOULD MAKE A MOVIE!

In a human family of 2 parents, usually when 1 parent is down or slightly distant, the other steps up and stays strong on the outside. Seems like it's universal. Happened with the Shabani family with Annie and for a leopard family I saw on a wildlife documentary a few years ago. Leopard mum presumed died so father leopard who used to occasionally check-in became full-time parent to baby cubs.

He he he. A dump forced analogy nontheless. The silverback is everything in the gorilla. Gorillas are patriarchal. This is a zoo, the other adults (females) sense they are safe, in jungle the whole troop would be troubled with silverback not present. It is the silverback that constructs a society, all of the adult females are his harems to spread his genes.

Moms are not alowed to become sick.also in my family. The mother has to stay healthy and strong...even if the family is sick.

I agree with Pauline Leung . . . and, I truly believe that Genki knows the importance of Kintaro needing to keep moving🏃🏽‍♂️in order to heal!!! So, she keep moving to cause him to be on the move!!! GOOD MOMMY💝 Getting him back to where he was before Dad fell ill . . . . indeed Family 'is' affected!!

They really need to clean up their enclosure from old hard branches and tree roots and rake the ground so baby won't injure himself.I see broken pointed roots that almost puncture Kintaro when he is playing and running.

Thank you for up dates. They are ALL special. I love Momotaro & Genki-their boys. Genki is a great mom and I glad dad and Kintaro are better. Gentaro loves his family and adores his baby brother, he seems better. Please be patient with him. I hope papa and Gentaro get on better--I don't want Gentaro to be separated from his family. He would be broken as his mom was when she was taken away to the other zoo. Love the tree comparison.

Como sentem a falta uns dos outros. Triste. Imaginem quando matam uma mãe é fica o gorila bebê sozinho, como ficam traumatizados. Melhores sentimentos que muitos humanos.

Thank you very much for this information…many people who follow the channels that feature the Momotaro family were worried about how he was doing as well as Kintaro. The explanation is much appreciated! ❤️❤️ P.S. Do you happen to know if Momotaro’s wound has healed?

Oh thank you for this professional and informative video. I completely understand and am hopeful that this family "tree" will return to good health. Sorry to hear you had to close again. How are the people of Japan? We do not get much international news anymore. I'm from the U.S.
