So far I have seen that the only ones who say that it is boring are the fans of the geth who hate it for being quarian, and let's face it, it is not so popular for nothing

Before you rail at him understand the outrage geez. The main reason it was bloody ass blasted so far into space was because of how absolutely lazy it was. It wasn't an original design that had any thought, effort or passion put into it, it was just a cut from google images with a bunch of nonsensical additions. When you get it, it just feels like it's been swept aside, a tick on the to do list. This may seem stupid to anyone who doesn't really care about Tali but for those who've been with her since the beginning it just seems like an utter insult. Also, no where did he say that it affected the game experience. Don't interpret it as "one part of this game sucks, therefore all of it does!" No. The game was good, this was just one of the many flaws.

He never implied that the Tali picture ruined his game experience. Many fans (like myself) became rightfully upset that Tali's romance rewarded you with a cheap Google image of an existing model, tacked on by amateur, low-quality Photoshop additions. It was but one example that gave evidence of the game's rushed production, and it did poor justice for the dedicated fans and the character overall. I was able to quickly get over it, but it could have been handled much better in my opinion. Learn to appreciate the opposite perspective.

The Quarians are my favourite race in the Mass Effect franchise. I just find their backstory and them searching the galaxy for a new home to be genuinely interesting. Really hope they're back for Andromeda.

Same. Perhaps the explanation for the change could be that years down the line, they were able to slowly boost their immune systems enough to remove their suits from time to time.

It's dumb though. Haven't the races in the galaxy advanced biotechnology ? it doesn't make sense that they can use intergalactic space travel, highly advanced weapons etc, AI tech, but be limited to an immune system weakness. Also a reliance on antibiotics is borderline criminal.

Rowan 95 early 21st century bias there :P it's impossible for a production of our time, based on a distant future, not to make these little mistakes now and then. People at the beginning of the XXth century had toughts on the future (our present) that could seem very dumb for us right now, just look at the movies and books they made predicting all sort of hilarious things xD but in their context in the past that made sense to them. Maybe when we meet real aliens we will feel silly to have tought most of them would have two eyes, legs and arms as we asume today in every single sci-fi stuff... Maybe we're the freak ones and they're all hanar xD and rachni :v

LOLmonster08 BUT, the Andromeda initiative leaves the Milky Way after the events of Mass Effect 1 but before the events of Mass Effect 2.

Only the female Quarians have three toes.. They got the two main toes in front, but one extra near the heel. Males lack the extra toe in the back. You could check it out for yourself by inspecting the quarian player models in ME3 Multiplayer. Anyways.. I find the quarians interesting! Many of the other races are particularly racist against quarians (often due to the fact that they created the geth), and being a quarian outside of the Migrant Fleet seems pretty hard. Speaking of racism: Lia'Vael mentions that some stores having signs saying "Not hiring quarians", and when she was accused of stealing, she says "I did not. Just because I'm a quarian" ... This heavily implies that quarians often gets looked down at by the other races. Tali also mention this in Mass Effect 1 "Many think less of the quarians for living on the flotilla, and for the creation of the geth" And the poor quarian guy you meet on Omega is forced to sell his goods at a price-level nobody can afford, which means that he's stuck on the asteroid.

No, he is not stuck on the asteroid any more, i gave him money, so he got out. And is also sad when Tali mention that turian who mistreated her, when she first came to Citadel, but it was delightful to see how she dealt with him with so much class. :3

The 1st thing i thought when Tali told me about that Turian clerk was: In Aerys Targaryen's words "BURN THEM ALL" Sadly she didnt want to burn his house with me, wich made the experience not enjoyable...

How about we get the Drell next? Thane was one of my favorite characters and his race deserves to be shown some love.

On the other end of the spectrum - Adam Baldwin. I don't know if he couldn't do an accent or just didn't bother but every single Quarian you meet has a wonderful exotic accent but Kal'Reegar sounds like he's looking for Charlie in the jungles of Vietnam. Peter Stormare would have been a better choice

Darla vas Hyperion parts company with Ryder at the end of Andromeda saying "Esu Se'Lai, Pathfinder." Given that we know Keelah Se'Lai means "by the homeworld I hope to see one day" I'm making the assumption that "esu se'lai" means something along the lines of "I hope to see you again." I haven't seen an official translation of it yet. I'd really love to hear what quarian music is supposed to sound like. I can imagine it having similarities to early Persian music, with maybe some Mayan traits.

ME3 shows Quarians as "the bad guys" in their own story, interesting is fact that when curing genophage game tells more about benefits (some kind of "help krogan!") of curing it while Salarians are showed as simply self-concerned assholes ( if the game let player see how desperate they were during Krogan rebellions), just like the Admiralty board is being seen. While they made HUGE mistake by creating Geth, and then trying to exterminate them, I believe killing them all in ME3 is kinda pointless, because saving Geth proves that Reapers are "rightright" (player accept that godchild bs). Funny thing, the only quarians we see are: -ones on pilgrimage in trouble, -Tali -assholes aka admirals Judging them as "bad guys" feel unfair, it's like judging all Turians by looking only at Saren. And in ME3 they have the closest experience with Shep - being driven out of their homeworld by synthetics. And some personal notes: My simple rule in ME was to never betray/insult my crew no matter how dickish/bitchy my Shep was. Tali/Legion conflict in me3, I trust Tali more, why? Because she was there from the BEGINNING of the story, and she always helped Shepard, while Legion was just likable robot. You have full rights to disagree with me, I just pointed what I was following by siding myself during quarian/geth conflict.

To be fair quarians tried to colonize various worlds. But as in ekuna they were threatened by the Council with an extreme amount of violence. Thus, the council, as with the krogan, plays a role in the tragedy of the quarian, in that they control all known territories and do not allow certain races to establish and prosper (i.e. the council was in fact very elitist and racist). And it is obvious that the council of the citadel was able to fix the situation of the krogans and quarians centuries ago, it is more the world of ekuna that I mentioned earlier was in the systems of termynus, a place where their presence can start a war, the actions for part of the citadel council in that world was very stupid Like the Tuchanka arc the entire Rannoch arc is skewed in favor of the geth because there was a specific story that the writers were trying to tell. But because this is an RPG, they still wanted to give players the idea that their choices mattered in the end.This really wasn't about a choice, it was about the writers telling the story they wanted to tell, while they offered us a idea not a election.

That's why I found humanity incredibly smart when it comes to interspecies diplomatic relations in mass effect, probably the result thousands of years bickering between ourselves. We knew that might makes right and all that following the rules is just lips service of the council races. That's why we too didn't reveal everything about our own Prothean artifacts, we aggressively expand before the council can put a ban on it so even if they banned we already claimed swaths of territory and we never promised anything specifically to the council so they can't tell us we broke the rules. And the peak of human innovation is shown in the creation of the carriers, an effective way to bypass the treaty of Farixen, inspired by the Washington treaty IRL, it limited the number of dreadnoughts each species can build but says nothing about carriers.

I don't know if anyone has stated it before but I love the Mass Effect world for mimicking our world to theirs. How you see the Alliance as America because they were the newest super power after WW2. With Asari as England, Salarian as French, and Turian as Soviets, and krogans as Germany in WW2 which for them was the krogan rebellion. Modern day you have Batarians as modern north Korea, but the greatest parallel is the Geth and Quarians. My interpretation is that of Israel and Palestine. Each side committed to the others destruction instead of trying to integrate with one another. The Geth (Israel) are more advanced in technology and mostly defensive. While Quarians (Palestinians) seek to reclaim their homes after they were driven out after their war with the Geth. They now are outcast of a lot of society and now some go to some extremes (Tali's father) to give their next generation their lost home. Quarians can't find a new home cause it will be hard to adapt so they fight for the one they lost. I love the world building BW put into the trilogy and it broke my heart to see Andromeda turn out the way it did. Still doesn't change the original and it's world building for me tho.

Love the Quarians. They are such a fascinating race. I hope u do the Drell next :)

I didn't like finding out that the creators half-assed Tali's face with that of a photoshop-ed model. But Quarians made me sad with pity, angry with their pig-headedness and enamoured with their nomadic culture, beautiful suits and adaptive engineering skills. Tali'Zorah vas Neema/Normandy nar Ayaa is the most paramount of examples. I hope that she will be one of the first out of suit Quarian thanks to their new alliance with the Geth bolstering their immune system, if she and her people survived the Reaper war. As mentioned in the video Kal Reeger and Admiral/Aunty Rann (lol, cute). Tali's prejudice against Geth was as strong as any other Quarian's but being on Shepard's crew opened her eyes and she trusted his judgement over her own fears. She was cute, resilient, fragile, savvy/sarcastic & dedicated and adaptable - all reasons why I romance her in ME's 2 & 3 almost every time - Liara is the 2nd only because I wanted Miranda to keep romancing on the ME3 squad but no such luck plus the game is heavy on pushing an inter-species relationship with her and I admit, I like Liara better than abrasive Ashley. The downside is that even if Tali doesn't regret getting sick from sex with Shepard they probably can't have kids unlike everybody and the Asarii. Now not only did the Quarian's reclaim their home world but because she trusted Shepard in the paragon canon, Tali might've lived long enough to breath the air on Ranoch normally and finally make physical contact.

Given how common interspecies relations are in Mass Effect (such as a NPC conversation involving a quarian complaining about her ex boyfriend who was human and various other races that couldn't produce children), I wouldn't say it's too out there for there to be some way for an interspecies child to be created. Perhaps some kind of machine that takes genetics from both sides and converts it into a child from one race or the other which is why we don't see hybrids, and given they are born as a certain race, they may just claim to be that race rather than the race they didn't take. Meh. Idk. Seems unlikely, but Shepard dies at the end, let my head canon exist that he leaves behind a child with Tali! Let me dream.

I like to think that under the mask, Pyro from TF2 has a Quarian mask.

I like how the Admiralty board is set up. With Admirals from different parts of the fleet, i.e. the civilian fleet, the heavy fleet ect. And how if the Admiralty board has to overrule the Conclave all Admirals have to resign.

Worth noting but not mentioned in the video is that the Quarian environmental suits are more than just a portable sealed environment. They also have full tactile sensory input, far greater than the hardsuits utilized by other races. Anything that touches the outside of the suit is registered as if it was touching the Quarian's actual skin.

No mentions of the dutifully named Admiral Zaal'Koris vas Qwib-Qwib

As for their immune systems, they weren't really weak, but they were more symbiotic with the plants and insects of their Rannoch. Only when they left Rannoch, did their immune systems become weak because it relied HEAVILY on the pollen and other microbes that was shared, which on the flotilla, was non-existant. Also with the way their immune system work was once their bodies was exposed to a new environment, contact, whatever, it would take them a little bit of time, but they wouldn't have to worry about becoming sick again from repeated exposure. So their immune system is more adaptive, albeit a little slower. Gawd........I'm sounding too damn nerdy. I guess it's just the Tali-mancer in me. BTW, Tali's FULL name is Tali'Zorah Nar Rayya Vas Neema Vas Normandy Vas Rannoch . I know, a mouthful but they do include ALL of their names Formally.

As mass effect fan i haven't seen content this good in a looooong time. Keep the videos coming love to watch these

Perhaps this has already been noted, but is it just me or does the speech indicator below the main helmet of Tali look like a socket for something? Perhaps for extra convenience when going into space, like for attaching an oxygen tank? Maybe she doesn't just work with software and does do repairs on the Normandy's exteriors.

A lot of the facts comes directly from the game. One thing I picked up is if you compare Mass Effect lore to Dragon Age lore, Quarians are very similar to Elves. On a side note, I think the main reason why some hate the Quarians is because of their leadership: The jackass Han'Gerrel, the crazy Daro'Xen, the undecided Shala'Raan while Zaal'Koris is just easily hated.

The Geth Consensus. They don't really need a planet, they're "purely software" (like Legion said), so technically speaking, their planet is the Geth Consensus.

Anyone else maxed tali's shields and shotgun skills and used her as a siege machine in ME1? I played the entire game commanding her to attack and hiding behind a wall or a crate while she blasted every living thing on sight into oblivion. Apart from the orders and the eventual use of biotics my shepard was just a secondary character while tali was mofucker rambo

What happens when quarians are pregnant? Do they have pregnancy suits, or do the female quarians have elastic suits? You can clearly see that there are differences between the male and female suits,like, the helmet for exemple. Id like to know

I hope too see at least a few of them in Andromeda unfortunately we won,t know till bio-ware tells us or we see them in the game, if some of you have not read the M.E. novels Mass Effect: Ascension is centered around the Quarian fleet then in Mass Effect: Deception starts in the Quarian fleet since one of the main characters actually lived with the quarians

Being able to modify their suits after their pilgrimage explains why tali's suit changes between mass effect 1 and mass effect 2

They remind me of my second girlfriend who had basically no immune system. She was also bound to a suit, though hers looked less stylish. But if she would’ve caught any kind of virus or damaging bacteria it would have been a death sentence. Not a fever. I miss you Tara.

Ridiculously late, but if people love quarians they need to read or listen to Mass Effect Annihilation. It's about the quarian ark, the Keelah Si'yah, and it's literally fantastic. I am super critical about flaws in books and characters being stupid, so these are high praise for Annihilation. Senna is bloody amazing, but the entire cast is great. The audiobook is also free on Audible and the narrator is fantastic. Quarian, drell, elcor, hanar, volus, batarian? He does them all exquisitely. Seriously, listen to the book. You will be so thankful you did. Then join me in loving Senna enough to give Andromeda some reason to tie back in so we can romance that dear, sweet, perfect boy.

Quarians looks like draenei's from wow. There are a lot of similarities however their backstory is a bit different. Hopefully in the Andromeda they will comeback along with the all previously known races because I like all of them for reasons. The only bad there is no option to make non human character in Andromeda and I hoped for more character costumization. At least in the multiplayer we can have them. "hope dies last"

I am a Geth sympathizer. The Quarians problem is complicated so I had no choice but to expose Rael at trial as well as add some color by suggesting Tali is sending waves of geth. I still like the Quarians though and I set Tali up with Veeter.

Did you know the Quarians were inspired by the re imagined Battlestar Galactica series? Forced to leave the homeworld due to robot uprising, a nomadic fleet mad of military and civilian ships, SO SAY WE ALL?! Yeah..........

The Quarians could live without suit if you chose to unite them with The Geth against the reapers. In Mass Effect 3. or else they will have the suits to survive. And the Galaxy got rid of The Geths. I hope they will make a choice of that.

In fact, they are the best engineers in the galaxy and without the reapers the geths would not have won. In addition, the illusory man considers that they are at the same technological level as the rest of the galaxy.

One of my favorite races, but I hate how they simplified their dynamic with the Geth in ME3 it left a lot of add plot holes. For example if the Quarians attacked first why were non of their colonies prepared for the Geth to attack to strike back? Or how did they not know about the Servers they had built to house the Geth programming? Or if the Geth did not pursue fleeing Quarian vessels then why did billions of them not flee sooner? Or maybe Legion (or the Geth VI) was lying to make exterminating the Quarians seem more reasonable.

i think is because had Geth VI in every Quarian colonies, and they gained self awareness simultaneously, and things happen fast. and the server, were build with the auto-evolution of the Geth, which ocurred after they kicked the quarians out of the nebula. also the Quarians just fled when they thought the war was lost, and if they stayed they would be exterminated. so the Geth saw them fleeing and realised it was not necessary a extermination. so, they let them go.

Destroying the Geth even though I had the peace option always brought me joy...*sigh* Good memories

I never really cared to much for tali. I by no means hated her and was slightly saddened by her suicide, she was always just there for me. As for the quarians they pissed me off time and time again. First at tali's trial and secondly with the whole geth situation. However they did create legion one of my favorite squad mates.

Great video man, you've got yourself a subscriber. I do think the quarians were influenced by Muslim culture. The burka-like dressing, the pilgrimage and so on. But that's just my speculation

Joseph Ben-Obasa the quarians were actually influenced by depictions of the Virgin Mary, but I too can see the resemblance.

1 child is a declining population output btw.

Maybe this echoes a previous comment, but IMHO and as a serious ME player and follower, Bioware did everyone a disservice by cheapening the whole Tali "reveal". A badly cropped and shopped generic photo just did not do anyone any favors. It would have been best to just leave it alone. That said, I really hope this new series builds off of the old, but makes its own name. I wish Halo followed suit, even with the Bungie/343 split of the games.

If they can only have one child then the population is halfed every generation rather than it staying the same if parents can have two children.

The mentioned relaxing the one child rule, so, presumably, the population gets too low, they change what the limit is.

True but if they changed the law to two children per couple then that would keep the level always equal and so the rule would never need to be relaxed/changed to get the population up again.

Unless they lose a bunch of Marines, or a ship to pirate attacks, or Quarians are exiled. Or people ignore the rule because they think they still have space on their ship. Or a couple going for their second child ends up with twins (or more).

Jared Masten But only having one child would make the population even lower if a lot of Quarians were killed or exiled and having twins wouldn't be an overly common thing so it wouldn't raise the population that much whereas if each family only has one child that guarantees that the population will decrease by large amounts.

You're not getting it. They relax the one child rule if they need to increase growth. That means it isn't enforced. If a disaster happens and they need to boost their numbers so they can get back to 0% growth, they can have however many kids are needed.
