Abnormal Engine Starts B737
Abnormal engine starts : Compliments the ATPL AGK Systems exam when learning the different type of failed starts including Wet start, Hung start etc. I have DELIBERATELY extended the failure to show engine instrumentation readings. In normal operations, the start sequence would be terminated much sooner. This is a simulator, there is no risk of costly damage - but you get to see how the engine instrumentation responds to the failure. Something you may never see otherwise with a real engine. The video is for educational purposes.

Reviewing upcoming sim. Thanks for the help. We don't get to see these very often

You’re welcome.
Could you do a video on all the different types of engine failures in flight? E.g. failure, surge, limit, fire, severe damage, fire, dual failure etc

What causes a hung start? Poor fuel delivery?

Hi, these are a few (not all), generic problems, not necessarily associated with all engine designs, but some to consider. Low RPM during start. Faulty air starter, blockage in air start valve; start valve malfunction (on some aircraft). Possibly trying to start with a tail wind causing insufficient engine RPM to be reached with starter. Maybe trying to start with PACK’s on and therefore not enough bleed air. Fuel; problem with fuel control unit/fuel nozzles. Too much air extraction from the HBOV, (Handling bleed off valve). Contaminated compressor.
