Thank you DR For explaining different types of breathing problems. I do have COPD, with wheezing. No fever, rare cough and some fatigue. Went to public got: alka-seltzer plus, power max Gels. Just started yesterday, also, taking robitussin cough+chest congestion 'DM' I can't get to see any of my doctors bc they are not seeing patients. I called my local health clinic and was told to get a referral to see clinic nurse or doctor. The 'ER' dept won't see me either. This works: I said would it help if I brought my Attorney with me.? It worked. Be safe everyone. Trust in God to get us through this.

Absolutely stunned by the quality and insights! Question: why aren't there coarse crackles with astma (poorly controlled/uncontrolled)? inflammation and narrowing of the airways would close up the airways on expiration as well. Inflammation would make the wall more stiff as well.

When i inhale very deeply with my mouth like 5-10 times i get a weird sensation in my lungs, mostly in my back, like an itch.I stopped smoking a few weeks ago and when i stopped then it started.I dont have wheezing or shortness of breath, just that weird itch or sensation after a few full inhales.I have alergy to pollen and my asthma activates ONLY in spring while pollen is around, during summer and winter its nothing to worry about.I dont have asthma attacks. But this year my "asthma" was better and im better around pollen.Just asking if i should worry because thats the only thing im worried about.

My wife is a heavy menthol smoker & she's 52. She wheezes, coughing up stuff but, the scariest sound is a very loud "Thumping Sound" on exhale while she's sleeping. She has said that I stop breathing upwards of 20sec while I sleep but I noticed she does as well. However, that loud thumping sound is scary & she will not go to a doctor. I've never heard anything like that. It sounds like if you throw a baseball at an empty plastic drum. Thump, thump thump

I have asthma, and I sound like a squeaky toy when I exhale (but it comes and goes). I've had this my entire adult life (so, almost 50 years) so it's not especially worrisome except when it keeps me from falling asleep. I've never used my inhaler for that, but it sounds like maybe that would help. I always thought of my inhaler as what you use when you're gasping for air. That narrowing of the smaller tubes is like pulling the opening of a balloon tight to make it squeal as you let the air out!

About a mont and a half ago I had Influenza A and I had such bad wheezing during insparation and exparation that I was admitted to hospital where I did nebulizers routinely and the whistling just about started after I got out of hospital. Crackling is typical to hear in a chest infection which I notice you don't mention.

@@ridinggambit5017 But, they also say, "Don't forget that it could be a zebra." The more prevalent saying, "When you hear hoofbeats, think horses, not zebras" is based on Occam's Razor, which states that the simplest explanation is often correct. Unfortunately, this can delay diagnosis of a rare disease. "Keep an open mind" is best practice for the patient.

My lungs make a quick chirp at very end of deep breath but it’s intermittent. Rarely it will happen at the drs office they don’t tell me what it is but then kinda act like it’s my fault it does that and scold me “ did you know you have a wheeze, do you have a cold?” They are so accusatory so I say oh no problem here cus they make me feel like it’s a police imterigation and I’m about to get arrested for murder or something... yet I’m supposed to trust this jerk??? More than one dr reacted to me this way as if my license said Typhoid Mary or something and this was long before covid19. And other times I been in drs office and my lungs are perfectly behaved

A thought just came in mind, I may be wrong but wouldn’t another way to differentiate a pleural friction rub from a pericardial rub be to ask the patient to hold their breath for 5 seconds on auscultation? I am thinking the pleural rub would stop while the pericardial rub would continue.
