Yes. Music is experienced more with emotions so this aspect is very important. But this will always be important, even when tape is forgotten because it has a dreamlike surreal quality even to someone unfamiliar with tape. It evokes a feeling of music heard in the wind on the beach, fading in and out. This is heard in the music of Lone, Kona Triangle, Com Truise, etc.

Yeah. I that this is a whole other argument- I have a whole hardware studio, but think this is a great approach for being able to deal with this kind of processing task when required- and ftr, more client briefs than ever are requesting BOC/Com Truise vibes and one does not always have the benefit of retiring to their hardware island when revisions are being bounced in- having some portable processing options is good... And this helps newcomers understand the fundamentals of what they are after

I like this tutorial lots, have puzzled about the BoC sound for ages. Thanks for this. My solution, which has proved quite expensive, was to go out and buy an open reel. They're great things in themselves and really add a warmth and low end to the recordings.

I have made BOC out of most of the different equipment I have. You realize that is was not just one thing but that most of their sounds are original organic things with no 2 songs alike. There are a million ways to get their sound and I explore that in many of my videos.

Thanks for the reply, I was, as said, very happy with this insight - especially in using the modulation options within Live's sampler. This was something I was until your video appeared totally unaware of. I might add, that my solution has proved expensive, given my inexperience of open reels. One tip I would say with open Reels here is: Never buy or use Shamrock tape! Unless you really want to clog your machine up with tape dust and degraded binder. Thanks again for the reply and I'll check out the rest of you BoC videos.

I like how you called it "beautified" when it actually sounded shittier. It's funny how we tend to find the old stuff more beautiful these days. Really cool video sir, great to see a refreshing tutorial :)

Yes, in Ableton you can use transpose along with envelopes and combinations of Ableton effects to do the same thing. I was just trying to do it the easy way by creating an instance of Sampler once, then from then on you can do it in 5 seconds by just throwing a track in there.

Hey Wavestrike, How do I achieve the 'gated' Kick drum with a 'thwack' sound that appears in Sunshine Recorder (Geogaddi) and Valis Called Control (Com Truise)? Any ideas. I have been adjusting the gate over the reverb and also the tail of the kick but i can't get that 'thwack' thats in the tail...maybe i need to expand the output of the gate or get some resonance on the tail??

Play with the reverb predelay. Also you can record only the wet reverb and move it around on a second track giving you more control over where the reverb lands.

Wavestrike Electronics its been on my mind so i've stuck with it whilst i was waiting to hear from you.
