I've been trying to find some tutorials that I can actually learn from. Most I've found, jump around all over the place, over explain things and are hard to follow, honestly hurting my brain... Your straight to the point and delivered so effectively so a beginner could follow. Thank you so much! subscribed :)

Very useful video. My issue was when you have/use/select a one bar clip in the arrangement view, clip view often shows more/several/multiple bars. Very confusing. Apparently, as this video shows, these are (a kind of) previous recordings.

Thank you for these excellent tutorials, Liam. One observation, when I loaded a drum rack, there were no sounds - now I use the qwerty keyboard only. Eventually I twigged that it was because I was in a different octave to the kit sounds - by toggling Z and X I eventually got it to work. Next, I spotted box grids next to the kit and yellow spots located inside, signifying the different drums. I felt like giving up at one stage. Anyway I'm making some progress now.

Good tip! Yes, you have to make sure the "notes" you are pressing correspond to the notes to where the samples are loaded in drum rack.

Bloody hell.. I've seen loads of Ableton tutorials...and never had I watched such a clear and simple way of how to take advantage of both session and arrangement views. You actually clearly highlight what one can get out of using one and the other. Kudos ! I mean it! I actually learned here. Thank you ! PS: I reckon I have seen a way to not have to edit the clip manually..if one is over the 4 bar 'threshold'. Is that with loop quantization ? Thanks again Cheers from Portugal

Another brilliant video, I keep watching, and trying various methods you show. Sometimes with great suscess more often little sucess. May I ask though... when using an external synth or keyboard how do you change the patch from within Ableton. There are sounds that my Hydrasynth make that you just cannot get from the built in instruments. Thanks again for your hard work 😀

hello, when it comes to recording, MIDI or audio, is there any way to start recording just at the very moment when i start playing notes? i mean the record transport beginning when i start playing not before. thanks.

The only way to listen to a specific part of the midi clip is to drag the black play triangle? I can't just click where I want the play back to start from on the midi clip?

Do you have anything on using audio files? I have a track that I originally recorded using Arrangement Mode, I think I would like to pull those audio files into clips in session view and use that to create an arrangement. I am having issues finding the end of each Audio file (say drums which were originally created on a digitech trio plus pedal). Do I need to, or can I quantise the audio files? I am sure its not as hard as I am making it... if you have anything that covers managing audio files that would be perfect... **long shot I know but thanks for the video it helped a lot with my learning of Ableton so far.

all I want to know how to do is overdub midi, and it's like trying to find out the friggin' vatican secrets. The learning curve on this DAW sucks.
