A somewhat important omission from your video is that -18dB is not -18 dB peak, it's -18dB RMS or 0VU in the Hornet plugin. For most things, this tends to peak at around -6dB, but for less dynamic sounds, such as a heavily compressed and/or distorted break, it will peak lower.
Finally found a channel with a decent and correct explanation
Thank u man, u are a good man
Thanks Fanu, that's really helpful.
Great tips. Thanks Fanu

Top GS tips there! 🥃
super useful
Thank you !
wow. a whole uni course in 8 minutes of fire
thanks man!
Dope!
thanks
how are you able to add effects with right clicking instead on dragging the effect into the track ??
do you use utility plugin instead of fader volumes when mixing beyond this initial gain staging?

I use Utility for leveling the signal between plugins as well as for automation, and I leave the faders for overall nudging/mixing.
Great Vid. Have you heard about the 32 bit steinberg interface? wondering if it would make a difference for the master.

Interfaces per se make no different in terms of the master. Whatever happens inside the DAW when exporting is all math and has nothing to do with an interface.
Thanks for the video. I have a question: how did you added Utility via right click and got menu with Instruments/Effects? I guess it's 3rd party solution? I wish Ableton implement this natively like Bitwig. Thanks one more time :)

@@lowpie1 I was wondering the same thing myself! I'm looking into this ASAP, it's going to save me loads of time.
Do I need to gain stage every track, and when do I gain stage, before or after adding the effects/plug-ins?

pro tip : watch series on Flixzone. I've been using it for watching a lot of movies recently.

You don't need to gain stage at all, but you will have a much better, clearer mix if you do as you won't be introducing unwanted distortion and cluttering your mix unnecessarily. I find that if I don't do it, it causes me problems later on as I have to decrease the gain after it's been through my FX chains and you have to do extra work with EQs etc to remove the added crap from too high input gains. Sometimes, that may actually be the sound you're after, but it's generally not advisable.
How are you right clicking on Ableton to shortcut to your effects? Mine doesn’t do that?
If you would have shown pure sinewave like 60hz and throwed that in to the analog modelling eq you would have been seen how much analog saturation the plugin does (in the spectrum analyzer). Am I right?

The UAD one? Yeah, they faithfully model input stages, too, so it'd got roasted if I you pushed it hard.

Fanu I have never tested them and I just came wonder that if it’s working like that. How much harmonic distortion the plugins create if you run them too hot.

@@Domiviio The louder you run signal into them, the more they distort.
