I like how they showed anorexia and bulimia from different sides, both abigail and kat. Some people don’t throw up in their eating disorders, but just not eat at all :( I relate with Abi

The thing is, it's not really that mean. It's more of a saying when someone doesn't lift themself up, but in Abigail state, she took it to heart and felt like Ms. Raine was commenting on her actual weight. It's so important though to be sensitive towards a student... And to know that those comments, even if not meant that way, can be understood very wrong and lead to a horrible outcome..

Hanna B i don’t think she was commenting on her weight or looks but on her forcing and pushing herself too hard. I think it means that the way she was doing the exercise made it look bad. When you are dancing you are supposed to look like air. Abigail was forcing it too much but if course she took the comment the wrong way

it’s really sad how eating disorders are so normalized in sports like dance, gymnastics, cheer and figure skating. i’ve done all of these and as a 13 year old even i had an eating disorder mentality at only 6 years old also half the girls in my gymnastics team had eating disorders and they were mostly encouraged by other girls and parents

Eating disorders also don’t have to go on in normal sports or in teenage years. I learned about eating disorders when I was 8, because I’d go long breaks without eating, or sometimes binge to make up for the long times without eating. Never figured out whether I was anorexic or Bullimic. Parents bullying their children and terrorizing them can just as much be a reason as sports

I like how they showed eds in athletes. I suffer from anorexia and a little bit bulimia and am an athlete. I don‘t look seriously underweight and I definetely eat more than the other patients in my treatment facility but I have to work out 6-7 times a week and am in a deficit for months. I feel like society sees eds as a malnourished, white girl in puberty whos diet went to far. That‘s not the case and you can have an ed no matter how much you weigh and how old you are.

@@soufleur5015 well I believe it's time we stopped perpetuating the stereotypical mold of what a dancer "should" look like. it reduces the art to something industrial and homogenous and robs the dancer from enjoying her craft, preoccupies her with a harmful, outdated ideal and wastes the time she could use focusing on her technique. it is a sign of poor artistry if you believe it takes a certain weight to be a good dancer.
