Shankar and Sonu both sing this song extremely well. Rafi is Rafi, and yet one can't deny that these 2 have done a wonderful job. End by Shankar is marvellous. In any way this does not make Rafi any lesser singer. To be fair Sonu and Shankar dont get compositions and lyrics like they were in time of Rafi.

This song looks so much simple, ease and sweet when the legend rafi sang.... His stunning voice and style can feel u tht u can sing but this song is such a difficult song tht once u sing then come to know tht u can never sing .... If u will sing then then if u hav to give ur best, After tht it wd feel ur song is way far between sky and earth.... Bcz his voice and style were karismatic, he is matchless... I hav never heard tht kind of magical voice ever...I don't know wy he didn't get bharat ratna??? It embraced me a lot when this comes to mind....

I tried to sing this song in Starmaker recordings got line by line difficulties. What you said is practically correct

Very well sung. The melody of the old songs are still captivating any listener. New songs barring very few, don't reach even 1% of the effect of such melody.

Great sir your way of deliver is very humble, which is essence of this song. ❤❤❤

Oh! What a song and equally awesome performance.

This shows why even a simple song of Rafi is so difficult to deliver, especially bring that feel that only Rafi or rather his voice could do. Improvisations are always welcome and shows the singers own originality. But this shows what a difference Rafi and his great voice made to any song. By the way this is not a simple song when one looks at the musical nuances in it.

I fully agree... there is no point giving clssical touch it is not a classical song...bogus by Mahadevan.. he has spoiled the taste of the song.. Javed Ali is super for this song. Mahadevan is nowhere near to Rafishaheb.

Without question, Shankar Mahadevan is an amazing singer. He has done some improvisation in this song, and that is his style. At no time during his performance did I get the impression that he wanted to sing the song better that Rafi. Shankar Mahadevan knows that this is an impossible task for any mortal. Well done brother. Hats off for a brilliant rendition....

Bro it is impossible for even Md rafi to be like others because everyone is different and by doing copy you can not be equal to original one so be what you are..... Neither younger one can be equal to older one neither older one can be equal to younger ones it doesn't mean dishonour to the older ones but it's the nature of being individual of it's kind.

Salim Wadiwala riaz in his voice is more than any other singer because he considers himself only student not interested in teaching singing to anybody any those who understand vocal hymns can tell how much a singer has done riaz and i am not joking listening to his voice it seems he does riaz all the time!

infinity8636 I’m sorry, my friend, but just because you see Mahadevan singing live doesn’t mean he is “technically” superior. Rafi Sahab was superior in every way possible, note for note, in his live performance and more so in his live recordings.

Loved Shankar Ji's variations to the original.. When play back is done it is for a specific purpose and this type of singing could have been incorporated by Rafi Sahab and Ashaji but they have to playback for respective actors.. The legends use to break from original and try their own things on stage with an over 100 piece orchestra like this one organised by Mahale sahab..
