I so agree with you. Many people say a 3 year old can't get far, as if they're toddling along. My 3 year old literally ran like the wind and would carry on running for no reason whatsoever and no one could keep up with her. Especially ADHD kids, they never ever stop, doesn't matter if they're dehydrated, hungry, tired, their bodies are always on turbo

When my son was 4 he was taken out of a store by a stranger. He said he thought the man was his uncle (they both were tall, muscular and blonde) luckily I saw them leaving and chased them down, my son was fine. But I say all this to note that kids at this age only have small frames of reference for things even people they know well. If he encountered a person who looked even vaguely similar to his grandmother his mind could have come up with the rest of this story.

It could be that he was discovered by someone who lives out in the woods, took him back to where they lived (the figures could have been manequins and the guns could be legitimate guns) and checked him for any injuries. Idkkk.. my son is 3 and there have been times when he’s ran up to a woman who looks similar to grandma at the park, and once at the store he was saying hi grandma from down the aisle, but then quickly realized it wasn’t her once he got close. Unless the child is 0-2 years old, they can tell the difference between someone they know and someone they don’t, even if they look similar. Especially someone they know well. Unless they’re like identical twins I’ve seen even babies be able to tell the difference between people who look similar.

I cant help but feel like the grandma was very much leading the story. She already had a prior experience that she interpreted as "paranormal", she first posted the account on a relatively niche blog dedicated to paranormal stories (meaning she likely was already consuming such stories), she mentioned in the post that she was aware of Missing 411, etc. I cant shake the feeling that the grandma saw her opportunity (whether consciously or unconsciously) to be involved in this community that she read so much about and "helped" the grandson along. Clearly the boy's parents felt that this was the case.

It's troubling that the child speaks of "two different grandmas". This is a classic defense/coping mechanism of a child that has been molested by someone he knows and trusts. I'm not suggesting it was by his grandma, but it is interesting he mentions a "sinister, robotic grandma" when he talks about his time in the "cave", where his "stomach was touched and he was asked to poop on something". If someone asks you to poop on something, there is a good chance that your pants are down. This poor child...

Yeah I can see a three-year-old making up such a complex story unless it was real. It is far and away the craziest one I have ever heard. The only other one that creep me out was the skier that was jumping Large crevices running from some creature that scared him to death. The police were trying to find any explanation for that story to saying well maybe he was about to be in a diabetic coma you wouldn't jump death define crevasses for that my mom's blood sugar got very low they would not be able to do something like that. When my mom's blood sugar got low she was saying words but they were making no sense immediately went to the store and got some sugared orange juice. And jumped her ass for ever giving herself a shot and then going off to watch her grandkids without eating. People that have very low blood sugar cannot do normal things much less junk large crevices he was actually running from something and then he skied right off the cliff. That story scared me especially when the searchers said they felt like someone was watching them but the campy story is number 1 far way the weirdest. NASCAR pit aliens even though I 1000% believe the universe is teeming with life. In this case I really don't see another answer.

Your objective viewpoint backed by what appears to be hours upon hours of research is not comparable to any other channel on KZread. The most interesting thing about the family recounting their experience, was the proportion of the story being told by the grandmother. Indiana barely spoke... and when he did start talking, his grandmother seemed to quickly interject, in order to finish the idea for him - Like she thought it was her story to tell. (Narcissistic red flags) She seemed to be more excited to tell the story, than even he does.. probably, because she better understands the value of the paycheck they will receiving from the History Channel for their contribution to the production. Also, Indiana's dissociated expression, as the other's exclaim their belief in the story... is quite telling. It's the same expression I used to make as a child - when I felt the objectifying social pressure to perform for adults. I hope the kid is okay.... Seems fishy, though.

There also exists the possibility that the kid DID talk and told his whole story himself, but he was 12 year old spaghetti-all-over-lad, and the producers decided to go with the footage of the other two (reasons for which, you may theorize for yourself). The footage is certainly standard TV cut-up.

@@skyekeating349 my thought is that he's more a victim of sorts. my theory is that he actually did get lost in the woods for a few hours, and either couldn't remember what happened, or he just inexplicably made up a story about it as children are known to do. maybe because he was so young he thought it was his fault that he got lost and was too embarrassed to say it? and then felt like he had to give a story that made it someone else's fault that he got lost so his parents wouldn't get mad at him. it's not reasonable for an adult or a teenager to think like that, but he was 3 at the time. 3 year olds just say and do things sometimes because they don't understand the world around them yet. often these types of stories come from movies, shows, books, etc. - including their advertisements - that the child then misinterprets and perhaps combines with other media, in a way that doesn't all connect together in teh child's mind. he could've seen part of an episode of The Twilight Zone at a friend/family member's house, for example. or some missing persons type case on the History channel or something. i actually have a specific piece of media that i think could've contributed to this: the movie Hoodwinked, or its sequel. the former released in 2005, the latter in 2011. while not exactly the same, in Hoodwinked there's a character who pretends to be the protagonist's grandma for malicious purposes. and although i'm a few years older than this kid, i distinctly remember being creeped tf out by my memories of the movie. it just felt sinister to me, like a nightmare i'd had and remembered. i actually thought for a few years that it WAS some creepy memory i had made up, until i randomly ran across the movie again inline. it makes perfect sense to me that the kid saw a trailer for the movie on TV, or it was put on when they went to visit a relative's house or something, and in lieu of remembering the actual movie, he just retained some ideas from the movie that scared him at the time, which then resurfaced due to the trauma of being lost. 3 year olds can have a hard time distinguishing reality from dreams/imagination/fiction anyway. i would guess he got lost, was so scared he dissociated, and his brain tried to fill in the gaps in memory by recontextualizing other scary memories. then his grandma claiming to believe something related happened to her, plus all the questioning and publicity, caused the false memory created out of stress to become cemented in his brain as something he has no other explanation for. it could have also happened in reverse, with him not having a story atfter he got lost, then later on seeing the movie but not remembering it very well, and then at some point his scary memories from around that time got intertwined with each other (again, likely due to others talking to him about it). i think his expression in the interview is him trying to go back to that time/place to find his ACTUAL memories, not just what everyone around him is telling him that he said. clearly he mostly only remembers snapshots and emotions, and i don't think it's ever said whether he remembers telling that story the first time. obviously i don't know him, but it does seem to me like he's taking the word of his family rather than sharing his own actual memories. he just seems like he doesn't fully believe his own story for whatever reason. but if he doesn't have his own explanation, and everyone around his is telling him the same thing, i can't really blame him for not saying he doesn't necessarily agree. but again, i don't know him, and this is ENTIRELY speculation. i cannot and do not claim to know what he believes, how he feels, or what his memories are/aren't. this is just what i believe to be a likely series of occurrences that caused the whole case to seem mysterious.

@@pizzzaeater1425 I almost completely agree. Definitely about the origin of the story. I just think there might be a bit more malicious intent on the part of the grandmother. My speculation based on the interview is that he had already told his family it wasn't true but his grandmother either tried to convince him it was or simply told him to pretend it was when a TV show wanted to interview them. Whether the story is true or not, the kid did nothing wrong. I do think his grandmother might be pushing him to lie though, and if she is doing that then she is absolutely doing something wrong.

It does to me sound like what the parents were worried would happen did. The grandmother played into the imagination of a child and lead him to believe that it was true for much longer. Yes it is possible that something happened to that kid, but because he was young and scared, he didn't understand what was going on so his imagination filled in the blanks. And his grandmother wanted to believe him so badly, she created that false memory for him, possibly overwriting the actual memory. Kids do this a lot when put into confusing or scary situations, filling in blanks with nonsese from their imagination when they don't understand what's going on. And it is possible for that to become the childs actual memory of the situation, even if half of it was made up

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if the boy was taken by a ‘wild person’ (basically a hermit in the area) who saw the boy and took pity on him cause she felt he wouldn’t survive without her help or something. Especially if he was lost, maybe the robots were corpses but of course that is hard to say. If the purses and guns were true, she may have stolen them from deceased, lost or other hermits in the area. And the robots were corpses that the boy reinterpreted to be robots cause that made sense to his brain. Or the boy just imagined other sleeping or sitting hermits as robots if this was a community of hermits. The sparkling could be from dew or just water that the hermit may have had which under the light sparkled or any other form of reflective surfaces. Maybe she did resemble Katty or was just some elderly woman who the child linked to Grandma Katty as it was an easier connection

A cave or dungeon with a ladder sounds like a spider hole that some survivalist dug. The boy reported guns and purses on shelves which sounds like the inside of such a bunker. The "purses" could have been various military type bags or pouches. If it's just one trap door on the ground then that could be really hard to find. The person could cover it with leaves, etc, and you might never find it.

@@SC-ec8xe Thanks for the interest and sorry it took so long to reply, I'm just now seeing these comments. This is the real story, as the one you will hear on In Search of Monsters is filled with omissions and fluff because they wouldn't let us tell the full story. This was mid 2010's in northwest Wisconsin at a youth retreat, over the course of 3 days something was stalking the campgrounds and messing with us, or at least some of us. The night before camp I was there with a friend to help set up and while sitting in the main cabin talking and playing cards I was absent-mindedly staring out the window at a moth when after a few seconds I thought to myself that it was weird I could only see the wings and not the body. Immediately after thinking this, I realized the wings were eyes and in that moment the pair of eyes backed up and whatever it was moved away from the window and the light from a nearby light post illuminated the window again. The fact that it was big enough to completely block the window made me concerned that it was a bear, but there wasn't much I could do except lock the doors and hope for the best. Thankfully nothing happened that night and so I just kinda kept it to myself. But on the second day while everyone was together in a clearing listening to our leader explain the rules for a game, something growled right next to me and I jumped and looked to my right expecting to see a dog or something but there was nothing there. My brother was about 10 feet ahead of me in this group of about 30 kids and I was at the back. He turned around because he thought I made the noise but I shook my head no and we both looked around for anything but found nothing. The weirdest part is that none of the other kids heard it, no one else turned around or even looked in my direction. After this I told my brothers about my experience but we weren't sure about telling everyone else because this was a christian youth retreat and we weren't expecting, "There's some kind of entity stalking the camp," to go over well with anyone so we stayed alert and told a couple people we trusted. That evening after dark, everyone was doing their own thing as was tradition at this camp, my brother (the one who also heard the growl) and a friend of his went to their cabin to get stuff for ultimate frisbee. Their cabin was at the top of the hill closest to the woods for reference, so they went to grab or drop off some stuff and as the came out they looked off into the woods to their left and they saw a weird shape partially hiding behind a tree. One of them nervously joked, "That kinda looks like a person." to which the other agreed and as they continued to look the thing started moving out from behind the tree and they both froze. They said it was light grey almost like smoke when you shine a flashlight on it but it had pale white eyes, they said it was hard to make out any other features partially because they were scared but also because it was almost all grey. After what must have been only 5-10 seconds the thing jolted towards them and they ran. From my perspective I was down the hill and heard my brother shouting, "Oh I'm done! I'm so done!" as he sprinted down the hill with his friend. As he got to me he was crying and as I calmed him down some other kids were gathering and asking what was wrong. He told me what happened and I immediately went to the camp leader and told him there was something in the woods. He saw that my brother had been crying and the other kid had a thousand mile stare and was pale as a sheet so he confined everyone to their cabins for the evening and made sure everyone had a buddy when they went outside. Supposedly they heard or saw something moving out in the woods when they went to investigate but it was inconclusive. The night passed and everyone went home the next day. We never figured out what it was but I had heard that another christian youth group that used the campgrounds later that summer had some kind of experience with something getting into one of the cabins at night but when we asked they wouldn't tell us much because "Speak of the devil and he will appear." Later on my brother made a post on reddit about our experience and eventually some producer saw it and asked us to be on their new show called In Search of Monsters. It was interesting seeing the process of shooting scenes and stuff, but the episode was about the Wendigo and so they only let us talk about what they thought would be interesting for their story. I personally was super uncomfortable because they made us stand and talk in ways that weren't our natural mannerisms so it made us look pretty awkward. It's funny to look back on and watch our episode from time to time but they definitely didn't do our story justice, so I'm glad these guys had a more genuine retelling.

This is absolutely infuriating. As a personality researcher (familiar with human behavior and psychology), it's blatantly obvious what's occured-the boy created comforting thoughts and images to cope during the time he was alone and scared, then the grandmother fused a prior experience she had with her grandsons far more significant experience. She then proceeded to potentially traumatize the boy repeatedly, even after the parents forbade her from questioning him on more than one occasion. Due to the heightened emotions converging with these various experiences, she and her grandson have now formed new tangible memories which have been carefully crafted subconsciously over a period of time. As a mother, this is particularly disturbing. Shame on this woman for selfishly making her family relive such a traumatic experience over and over, without any care or consideration for her actions and their repercussions. She's unbelievably toxic.

I’ve heard all sorts of bizarre and even terrifying things come out of a kids mouth, and none of it was true. They have absolutely amazing imaginations! This was very much encouraged by the grandma. I could already tell from her writing/post on an incredibly niche website that she was one of “those” kinds of people, especially with how she spoke, and then seeing her dominate the interview of the BOYS experience really did seal the deal. She’s one of ~those~ crazies, and I don’t doubt for a second that she believes what she’s saying (what her grandson said), but that does not make it true. It's kind of put forth as "From the child himself" to reinforce the story, but the child only recounts a very small almost insignificant part of the story. It's mostly just the grandmother retelling the story, and that's who we got the original telling of the story from. Also, it seams the completely omitted the "Poop on sticky paper" part. Which is the most bizarre and compelling part. I really would've liked to have the child tell the majority of the story in his own words. Regardless, great video as usual TME, solid work.

One thing I want to know is if this three year old boy knew the difference between his dreams and his reality. How did he refer to other dreams he had? Did he confuse them with real life events? Because the most logical explanation is that he ran off down that trail, eventually got tired and fell asleep under that bush, had a vivid dream, then woke up to the dog finding him. There's no need to go all paranormal when things just line up like this. And grandma most likely did have a spider bite, if it affected her like she said it did. Also, watching the grandma in the interview sealed it for me. She completely dominates the conversation and narrative. And when they ask the boy if he remembers he seems unsure. Pair that with the gramdma posting this to AboveTopSecret which is a pretty niche website and my suspicion is that the grandma is a UFO believer and involved in that scene and used her grandson's imagination to create this story.

That's enough for me to believe that something happened out there. I've heard this story a few times over the years (DP comes to mind), but this feels like the most indepth depiction, especially with hiking out there. It also seems like if there is a ladder involved, there's a good chance that this cave or dungeon is underground and that you may not necessarily be looking for the typical cave-like entrance in the side of a mountain... maybe something more akin to a disguised manhole cover sort of entrance. Maybe an older woman who happened to resemble his grandma tried to kidnap him but then had second thoughts for some reason, and his kid imagination just added a lot of enmeshment about a cave and robots and stuff a 4 year old thinks is cool. Or probably far more likely he just dreamed it that night and then a year later his kid brain couldn't remember if that was a dream or actually happened

I cannot believe the amount of information you found on this story. You investigate so thoroughly, I had no idea this family was featured on a tv show to talk about the incident, of all the videos and books I have read on this event, you had so much more detail. No one has read the online posts of the story or shown the tv segment. I have read all of David Paulides' books and listened to his radio segments mainly for entertainment value and I have maintained a degree of skepticism. The more I learn about these stories, the more I realize that he is not investigating enough to have meaningful discussions on the cases. I really enjoy the depth of your content.

I believe what this child is saying. Having had a few strange incidents happening to me as a child, I know firsthand that just because something hasn't happened to me, certainly doesn't mean the incident didn't happen!!! Unfortunately, because I had things happen to me, some would be inclined to not believe. I don't think people refuse to believe what happened, but they're more afraid that if they do believe it happened, it forces them to realize that strange things could happen to them!

The reference to the guns and purses is, to me, the most intriguing part. Many people, including numerous hunters, have gone missing in the Mt Shasta area and if the guns, etc are there it would certainly point to a single party or group responsible for many of those disappearances. (I have to add that the "Robot Grandma" sounds like a dance they might do down at the retirement home,)

The detail of Indiana's story which strikes me as the most bizarre is that the "other" Grandma Cappy asked him to defecate on a piece of sticky paper. Something similar to sticky paper is often used by wildlife biologists to collect samples of animal scat for analysis. How would a three year old know that to add it to a fantastical story that he'd made up? And what are the odds that he'd just come up with that without knowing it was a real thing that existed?

  • @jordanalandry1866

That’s what I’m saying the story is just frankly too specific and too bizarre for a child that age to come up with, children can make up stories sure but they tend to consist of very child-centric fantastical or familiar things not pooping on sticky paper and all the other wild more mature themed things discussed. And his story has similar elements and relevant aspects to other missing person’s experiences which is eerie he of all people wouldn’t have the foreknowledge or experience to be lead into or influenced into that

Funny how the tv interview left out the "pooping on sticky paper" part. I noticed a lot of other tellings of the story do this as well. I think its because its so implausible. Something a kid might say but the grandma made up the rest. The grandma does all the talking on the tv interview. Showing her face doesn't make her seem more genuine...lots of people seeking attention would do the same. Then David "Disgraced Former Cop Turned Conman" Paulides involvement in this case just make me doubt everything. It is literally "beyond belief. "

  • @StSubZero

    @StSubZero

@hectorlamar806 on the topic of NDE's you bring up a very good point that some folks have shed some light on. The trick is simple: If you see "loved ones" during an NDE -especially if they are encouraging you to come to them- but don't see Jesus, simply ask "Where is Jesus?" And the illusion will unravel. "You say you believe there is one God. You do well. Even demons believe this, and tremble" James 2:19. In short, what people often see in an NDE isn't a peek of heaven, but a deceptive welcome into a false paradise. "You don't need Jesus, you can die and come be with us." is their tagline. Good call my friend.

I grew up and lived in Mt. Shasta for 30 years, until just recently. Fun to see old stomping grounds on an episode. Some info on the area. Its a volcanic zone and you are essentially walking on top of ancient lava flows. Meaning there are tiny openings and caves everywhere. Most are extremely hard to spot in that area but small openings around water ways is common. There's even Lava Beds Nat'l Monument a few miles up the road. Which is a very substantial cave system. The McCloud river trail unofficially runs many miles in both directions. Worth also noting, around the time this took place. There were big problems with Mexican cartel grows and other illegal grows all over the general area South of there. MT. Shasta and the grows attracts a lot of people with questionable mental stability and beliefs. All in all it should be no surprise to come across weird folks squatting the in the woods. Such as an unstable person living in a cave? On top of that this is bear and cougar country. Glad the boy was found safe and healthy in the end.

  • @iavv334

Everyone is so interested in the paranormal aspect that I think explanations like this are overlooked. My first thought in all of this was a potential hermit that was squatting in a cave, found the child and helped them in some weird, mentally unstable way. The child was just filling in gaps and details in a way he understood, but I think the grandmother was too eager and jumped to an ET abduction when given the chance to. Do you have an opportunity to go back anytime? It may be invaluable for someone with your intimate knowledge of this region to find potential caves in the area that Indiana was found in. I don't think anything like the exact cave full of guns and purses would be found, per se, but if there's signs that people do hide out in these cave systems, it may give more credence to a more normal explanation of what could've happened.

This makes the most sense along with Victory8928's explanation of dew or drops of water (could have even been spider webs stuck to their clothing) being hit by sunlight when the person climbed the ladder to look out, possibly to see if any searchers were in the area. People who spend a lot of time in the woods are very aware of when things are 'different' than normal like a search effort is going on. My guess is if it was a hermit that had the boy for a while is that the boy got too close to the entrance of his/her home base and waited for the rescuers in the area to clear out and then led the boy to an area away from there and in line to where the search would to go next. The last thing a person living off in the woods by themselves wants is to bring attention to their existence there. I am happy with this explanation. As crazy as any of this is I can see this as plausible.

My 3 year old grandson disappeared while in my locked home from just a few feet away from me. I finally found him 10-15 minutes later, up in the attic. It was physically impossible for him to get up there, and when I asked him how he got up there, he said a “deer bunny” took him. Their was more high strangeness surrounding this situation. It scared the heck out of me, and I too believe we came close to losing him forever that day. We also have Rh- bloodline, and I’ve had two notable missing time incidents in my lifetime. Otherwise, nothing else stands out. I did contact David Paulides, and he said he has heard of cases of children disappearing from inside locked homes.

I just sorted videos by popular, watched robo grandma, then clicked this video not even noticing they're related. Beautiful. I love the attention to details in all your videos.

The fact that you went to the actual spot where he went missing is why I love your channel. Always going that extra step.

I find this case fascinating. So many people have similar stories to tell about samples being taken, that it make me wonder if something isn't going on out there. That being said, I love your practical, pragmatic approach always. I guess this is one that we will just never know. I would love for you to interview this boy once he comes of age to see if he has experienced other incidents of missing time or being visited or taken for samples again.

I love how you go to the locations , especially in videos like this where you find that trail that nobody reported that changed my entire opinion of the case

I heard a story here on youtube (Sasquatch Chronicles?) of a guy that became paralyzed in bed while a cloud like thing with sparkling lights or glitter floated above him. There are actually videos of these sparkling cloud things caught on video also here on youtube.

The next video actually won't be a missing person case, but a little documentary I made about a UFO hotspot. Following that, we will be doing a couple cases from Crater Lake NP.
