    @@winstontownsend2516 Alfred clipped her in the 100 but Steiner had a terrible start. I agree her form is unorthodox but so was Michael Johnson. But oh man. It’s hard to argue with Abby’s form when you see what she did in the 200. She just smashed the NCAA record and put up the fastest time in the world on a wet track 21.80! You really think her form is a problem? Her top end is simply awesome to watch.

    This is becoming scarily fast. Though I don't see the final being sub 10.8 necessarily, but it's certainly not unrealistic to think that it's a possibility, which speaks for itself. For perspective: all the qualifying times for the womens 100m final at the beijing olympics were over 11 seconds. This is amazing for a collegiate situation

I know there is a couple real fast females in the West who've dropped crazy fast wind-aided 100m times and I'm sure they'll be fighting for 1st too, but I believe Ofili is gonna take it in the 100m. But Abby, who also is a favorite, and you'd know that if you didn't simply regurgitate ONE of my comments, had an amazing day. And I'd say a surprising 100m race, the 200m was not surprising. So full props to her. I personally think she's peaking at the right time, where as Ofili may have peaked a little earlier? * Something I wrote in another comment you missed there Michael. 🤔 I think you have WAY too much time on your hands..... but if you're GONNA research my thoughts, picks or favourites, at least do a FULL job and get it right, 💡otherwise you come off as a little smug.

    What I've noticed in both the mens and womens races are some unusual body mechanics with a number of the athletes. Like Abby swinging that arm out wide. It clearly doesn't affect her speed but does anyone know if further coaching down the line would eliminate this and improve her times even more? Or is it a non-issue?

    It effects her speed and faulty mechanics can lead to injuries. She’s just that much faster, plus her frontside mechanics are phenomenal. Many professional runners aren’t mechanically sound. Justin Gatlin is about one of the only sprinters I’ve seen to change their entire sprinting style. However, Andre Degrasse did improve his arm mechanics.

    Amazing time. These women are incredible. It would be interesting to know what percentage of NFL, MLB, and NBA players can run a 10.9 s in the 100 m.

  • @GreyBeard_Fit

    @GreyBeard_Fit

    2 жыл бұрын

    10.9 is probably a football timed 4.38-4.47 over 40 yards. That’s just an extrapolation as acceleration and speed maintenance varies. Even if you are fast, a 10.9 is very difficult if you don’t train for 100 meters as most non track athletes will probably start decelerating after 35-40 yards. NFL: Most teams probably have 2-4 (CB, WR, return specialist, maybe a RB…..a lot of NFL RBs were faster in high school than in the NFL due to additional muscle/size) guys on their active 53 man roster than can go 10.9 at any moment MLB: Maybe 4-5 guys in the entire league NBA: Maybe 12-15 guys in the league. Probably a point guard like “prime” Allen Iverson, “prime” Derrick Rose, prime “Russell Westbrook” Allegedly Jordan went from 4.6 to 4.3 in college. Guys with elite verticals but are lean are the basketball players with the best chance.

    I think Alfred or Kemba Nelson in the 100m. Ironically, these 2 ladies have the 2 fastest 60 meter times in college history. Nelson ran 7.05 to win the 2021 60m title. Alfred broke the record in 2022 with a 7.04 in the prelims but ended up 5th (7.15) in the finals. Jefferson (7.09) won with Steiner (7.10) 2nd. 200m: I will flip a coin between Ofili and Steiner. Should be close as was the SEC Outdoor 200m. If they get a tailwind I think the winner runs 21.94 to 21.98 range.
