I love how Paul at first crossed in sandals, then decided to take them off for the final photo. That action became more significant than he would realise.

That was the first place I visited when I went to London - Abbey Road studios, I along with other tourists were walking across that street getting photos taken.. what really struck me was how nice, polite and patient the local Brits were driving by. No honking horns to get out of the way or yelling at the tourists. They just patiently stopped and waited for the tourists to finish taking their photos . This was the end of 1999 so I don't know what it is like there today, I don't remember there being a stop light there so kudos to the locals there, they were very nice!

But, truly, there were those that came before the Beatles that were quite amazing, not to mention that those that emerged during and right after (from Mozart, Haydn and Bach to the Beach Boys, Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan and TONS/LOTS more). And, usually, one's most creative time in one's life is prior to age 30 (Einstein, etc.).

In this photo shoot John Lennon’s full beard and long hair create a manly vibe to express the masculinity of an adult man. I was lucky enough to be at their first of two shows on September 3, 1964 when they performed at the Indiana State Fair. There are several videos of that show here on KZread for the searching. I was only 6 at the time, but had two older sisters and EVERYTHING was “Beatles.” I can also remember seeing them on the Ed Sullivan show. It was a magical time. Even as huge as the boys in BTS have become, even as massive as Taylor Swift is on her current “Eras” tour, the Beatles are in an entirely different universe. People forget how SHORT their run was - and without trying to start a row with purists over dates, depending on which event you choose to mark the “beginning” of the band, they made all of that music between (approximately) 1960 to 1970. Roughly ten years covers everything we know as “The Beatles.”

My Mom was/ is a huge Beatles fan. She was fortunate to have seen them in concert twice. She still has the photos. I too am a huge Beatles fan. I can't imagine life without them. I was only six when John was killed. I remember it like it was yesterday. It was a balmy, rainy night. We were driving home from the mall. It was just about dark and my Mom turned on the radio. The DJ was talking about John being killed and then Imagine started playing. My Mom started crying. Being only six at the time I asked her why she was crying. She told me that a man who made the music playing on the radio was shot while walking down the street on his way home in NY. I'll never forget that moment. I did not really start appreciating the Beatles until the 5th grade. That said, I felt the gravity of what had happened even before really understanding who John Lennon and the Beatles were. There was a palpable heaviness in the air in that moment. For a period of time in the 80's my Mom owned a one hour photo. Many of her customers were professional photographers. One day one of them came in with a roll of film. On it were photos of John Lennon very shortly before he died. My Mom asked the woman if she could make an extra copy of one of them for me. The woman was kind enough to agree. I have this photo framed next to my bed. I've never seen this photo in any publication so I'm guessing that it was something the woman kept private. In the photo John is wearing his blue jean jacket with the fur color. He has on his granny glasses and a dark plaid shirt. His hair is the style he was wearing right before he was killed. If I had to guess I'd say the picture is from somewhere between mid Oct to late Nov. or the first week of Dec. 1980. I do not cherish much in the material world. This photo and the magic I feel from the Beatles and their music is one of the few things. Some people say the Beatles are "over rated". I don't agree. If anything they are under rated. We mortals will never grasp or fully comprehend the magnitude of what they achieved.

@@jimmycampbell78 John's song "Cold Turkey" is nothing but pain. John said he wanted to let people know what it was like to go through that so they would not have to. John did withdraw cold turkey, I don't know if Yoko was with him when he did or if he just sequestered himself some place. Its funny (really not funny) but when I was young I never put 2 and 2 together with John..... but I was never exposed to those sorts of drugs. Like everyone my age, I did some weed and a little hash but that was it. Everyone knew that by Sgt. Pepper John was dropping acid pretty heavily and Paul and George had tried it. Ringo never did. And when you listen to Ringo's drumming it shows - Ringo IS a human metronome - you can't do that stoned. It seems that no mater what it was, John always took it to the next level - just his personality and I think the fact that he was burying so much pain inside him all the way back to his mum being killed (run over by the drunken cop). Peace and Love!

They literally changed the entire world. There will never be anything that can top the Beatles. Yes, there is some great amazing music before and after the Beatles but nothing can and will ever match the Beatles music and their lasting influence they had over our entire planet.

This is so frakkin' cool! To see these photos of the lads in their natural environment... A. Remember when they were just four lads with mop tops? B. Paul doing his best Bill Bailey impersonation... C. the old lady propbably telling them what nice boys they are AND that she has all their original singles and albums.

I was born and brought up in London, a massive Beatles fan, but I'm not the person who wants to visit shrines. Even so I remember when young in the 80's working as a cycle messenger. Getting a bit lost I cycled down a street and found myself cycling into the album cover. Oh my God, I'd looked at the cover so many times and here I was recognising it instantly so many years later. It's my favourite album cover. Also the blurred girl walking past the street sign is so iconic.

I always thought that there were only 3 members of the public in this photo: the three people above Paul's head and the tweed jacket man above John's head; but there are actually 3 more: a man crossing the road above Paul's head (behind the car), and a couple on the right pavement in between the second and third lampposts.

Каким бы мир не был, мы рады тому, что жили в одно время с Beatles. И уйдём с их музыкой в душе. 😊
