What is so crushing is seeing all those happy pictures of ABBA together and then knowing that they all divorced and stood on stage next to each other "singing" of their break up... except it is almost not singing... but telling... telling the story. Great band, great music, great lyrics, great singers... so tragically sad and relatable for anyone that has had a divorce.

Except she's not calm. Her voice starts to crack from the emotion. Supposedly, Agnetha was thinking about her own divorce during the recording. The couple split up in 1979, and Agnetha had to go into therapy.

it's about a broken relationship, she divorced, and here's the "worst" part: her ex husband was her band mate. in normal bands when one of the members divorces, there can be songs about it but it's not an internal problem, it doesn't affect the whole band. in this special case the people breaking up are members of the band. I can't imagine the tension or all the emotions and feelings they must have felt recording this.

The guy she is singing about wrote this song for her to sing. It's so heartbreaking.

As I've known this song for a long time, I looked at you from the beginning of the song and saw it all sink in IMMEDIATELY with each and every line of the lyrics. Your reaction made my eyes water.
