ABBA | Summer Night City | Live Wembley | FIRST TIME REACTION

Ойын-сауық

Abba, quite the infamous group and I can tell why they are force to be reckoned with. Great hit makers. This is Abba with Summer Night City, and my first ever time hearing and also reacting to them. Do enjoy. Thank you.
Lyrics:
Summer night city
Summer night city
Waiting for the sunrise, soul dancing in the dark
Summer night city
Walking in the moonlight, love-making in the park
Summer night city
In the sun, I feel like sleeping
I can't take it for too long
My impatience slowly creeping
Up my spine and growing strong
I know what's waiting there for me
Tonight I'm loose and fancy-free, aa-ahhh
When the night comes with the action
I just know it's time to go
Can't resist the strange attraction
From that giant dynamo
Lots to take and lots to give
Time to breathe and time to live
Waiting for the sunrise, soul dancing in the dark
Summer night city
Walking in the moonlight, love-making in the park
Summer night city
It's elusive party feeling
Somehow something turns me on
Some folks told me see them in it
We don't miss them when they're gone
Another feeling in the air
My kind of people everywhere
When the night comes with the action
I just know it's time to go
Can't resist the strange attraction
From that giant dynamo
And tomorrow when it's dawning
And the first birds start to sing
In the pale light of the morning
Nothing's worth remembering
It's a dream, it's out of reach
Scattered driftwood on the beach
Waiting for the sunrise, soul dancing in the dark
Summer night city
Walking in the moonlight, love-making in the park
Summer night city
Waiting for the sunrise, soul dancing in the dark
Summer night city
Walking in the moonlight, love-making in the park
Summer night city
Waiting for the sunrise, soul dancing in the dark
Summer night city
Walking in the moonlight, love-making in the park
Summer night city

@@pelgervampireduckthat’s nuts. This is the song that got me into the world of abba. Someone was playing it in a Zoom meeting and I asked what song it was. It was one of the catchiest tunes I’d heard and later realized that it wasn’t a very popular song compared to their other ones

Thanks for the reaction. You should do "Does Your Mother Know - Hole In Your Soul" segment from this concert. Really shows off all their talent and them all working together to rock the house. Lots of people have heard a couple of their big hit's and think they know them but really have no clue. ABBA was very diverse and did so many genres so well. I think you'll be amazed if you really check them out.

Björn was once asked about the name Abba and if it was corny, and he said "yes we should probably have found a better name". When the interviewer asked "like what" he said.. "something cool, like.... 'the rolling stones''... or 'roxy music' maybe". Nice hommage to colleagues :).

Actually both Agnetha and Frida and some of the background singers are singing in the background. Thomas Ledin is really supporting Björn, who is a decent singer, but could use the backup (he said so himself). I love how they weave a tapestry of vocals. ABBA‘s specialty. I also hear a lot of classical arrangements in the background. Benny likes Bach. You can hear that here, also in SOS.

So glad to see someone react to this and as a result totally change their perception of ABBA. This live version is very different from the studio version. I was their on Nov. 9th 1979 and the weird thing was because the start is so very different and slow none of us realised which song it was. Thats why as Bjorn sings the second line you can hear a round of applause as we (60,000 people) have all twigged at the same time which one it is.

Spectacular, I wish I could have been there. But I was only 1 year old, so that kind of put the knackers on that. You should also listen to the studio version, it's rather different but what you're missing here is the lush strings arrangement, and the pumping bass line in the middle eight. Both versions are supreme though.

An extremely underrated and little known ABBA song is "I am the City". It is hard to imagine how someone can turn a description of a city into song, yet alone a brilliant one so I urge you to give it a listen. It is probably the most complete and accurate summary description of a city ever. If a picture paints a thousand words then what have ABBA's music achieved here?

The really magic thing with this song is that in has at least two bridges that you can almost hear a kind of oriental melody in and that intercedes with the main theme, played on the keyboard by Benny and sung by Björn and Anni-Frid. In this particular video though, the keyboard is almost unnoticable. You need to listen to the stuido version for these parts.

The whole song is basically a tribute to Stockholm in the summer, when it is truly a summer night city - warm, comfortable nights, parties and concerts, festivals, celebrations, everyone's on vacation, beautiful weather (usually), music, dancing, food, drinking... I don't even live near there, but every time I've been there in the summer there's been an Energy to the city, one that often shocks people who think Swedes are reserved, quiet bores. We're not, we just take work seriously. :-D

Good morning and Happy New Year First time I see your channel and I was delighted with your reaction to ABBA's live performance At that time it had been questioned and doubted whether ABBA could repeat its sophisticated studio recordings live. ABBA demonstrated that it not only managed to maintain its quality but that in some cases (like this song) it surpassed its previous records "Summer night city" (1978) is, as you show it there, inspired by the disco era of Bee Gees and Saturday Night Fever. Then the album "Voulez Vous" will follow with more disco music. But I go back to the concert at Wembley Arena ABBA's energy is extraordinary in this song, reinforced by the musical support group and the company choral trio So the "Fabulous Four of Sweden" shine at the highest level: Agnetha (the blonde soprano vocalist) Bjorn (the guitarist) Benny (the pianist / keyboardist) Anni Frid (the brunette mezzo soprano vocalist) And many ABBA fans we are going to suggest that you do not miss seeing the end of the concert There are two songs in a row where ABBA reaches its peak of effervescence: "Does your mother know" and "Hole in your soul" I give You the link: kzread.info/dash/bejne/fHmtu7Z6fra2mpc.html It's just over 8 consecutive minutes of a quality power and delivery that all ABBA fans love. If you like live performances, feel free to watch it and take it for your reactions It is ABBA's best live performance, and it has nothing to envy the best and most historic bands. At another time I would like to ask you for the songs in the studio But your attitude with the live was tempting and I did not want to miss the opportunity to continue with the recital I hope see You in another reaction My best regards from Buenos Aires Argentina

I like how you were saying you let the music do the talking.... Incidentally ABBA has a song called " I Let The Music Speak" ... So it's like you're in tune with ABBA already, As far as this song goes, I've never been a fan of the live version of it.... I really appreciate the recorded version way better than this one it just has more of a dynamic feel to it the live version feels very rushed and very fast and over the top you should give the recorded version of listen sometime and react to that one

The young background chorus singer is Tomas Ledin, a swedish singer-songwriter that has a great career in Sweden, but never internationally. He made some of Swedens most beloved songs, like "Sommaren är kort" - Check that up - though you will only maybe understand a bit of it. "Summer is short". But english and swedish are very alike... If you really listen. This song is about Stockholm in the summer - when you are out partying all night - in the summer the night is kind of twillight/dawn/dusk-light not getting dark. So if you want to party with no end - come to Stockholm in mid-July.

You are correct with the songs that you remember I will give you a help with the list of her successes "Waterloo" (April 1974) was her first world #1 with their triumph at the Eurovision Song Contest in England but then it took them quite a while to reach their second hit, which was "S.O.S." (October 1975) there ABBA starts a series of 18 consecutive Top 10 in England between 1975/1981: S.O.S. Mamma Mia Fernando Dancing Queen Money money money Knowing me knowing you The name of the game Take a chance on me Summer night city Chiquitita Does your mother know Voulez vous Gimme gimme gimme I had a dream The winner takes it all Super trouper Lay all your love on me One of us ABBA was the Swedish pop group leads in the 70s, the decade after BEATLES Even today her music is still alive and well, both the old generations (like me who am 63 years old) and the new generations Their music was perpetuated in Australian films and in the musicals "Mamma Mía" 1 and 2 They have a musical "Mamma Mía" with 20 years on stage Their album "ABBA Gold" released in 1992 (10 years after their separation) is the second most sold in England, and this year it's close to turning 1000 weeks in the top 100 (record) It is that the characteristics of ABBA's music (melancholic lyrics with catchy melodies, excellent vocal harmonies, and the "wall of sound" recording technique) were eternally saved in the hearts of their fans. And after 35 years they met again to record in the studio And the world waits for those songs, that although they do not have the vitality of their young times, they will surely fill us with emotion

I love this song, and the live version is my favourite. Sadly B+B don’t like the song. :-/ it’s an Hommage to my favourite city, Stockholm!

Yes, it was an “orphan” song. Born (recorded) with many difficulties. B&B think that they did not get it right. And it was their first “not #1” in the UK since 1975. In my opinion, it is a “diamond-in-the-rough” and still has potential for a hit in the XXI century.

ABBA, I really don’t know if I’ve heard this band before, they’re not American right? Where are they from (country)? Loved the song! Don’t know if it was a disco hit or not, I never got into disco. Loved your reaction!

Agneta is holding her right ear, in some parts it´s too loud ? Have seen more singers do that.
