The last ~45 seconds of this song always get neglected...Benny's genius synth composition that I wish never ever ended.
Sometimes I wonder why I bother with reaction channels, but - this is why. Your utter joy on your face during this is why I'm here. Also, the younger generation getting into ABBA is no bad thing, they are timeless.
Just realised how brilliant the bass is in this track.
The 'sick bass' is courtesy of Rutger Gunnarsson, one of the best bassists ever. He died in 2015. R.I.P. Rutger.

I’m a HUGE ABBA fan and this is my favorite song of all time. Everything is just perfect - Chord structure, melody, vocals, the “loops”, the LYRICS..!! It truly is a mesmerizing finish to the godly Super Trouper album. 🙏
Lay All Your Love On Me, Visitors, and On and On and On were all hugely popular in gay club's in the early 80s. I think it was because that pounding bass (amped up by the clubs audio system) allowed you to dance in place even if you were drunk and high on poppers. Ah, the memories 🤣
The song is so perfect. As many other ABBA-songs: pure magic.
One thing about this song that is so mesmerizing is the how the chorus builds with layers. By the end of the song, it's so rich and big and almost it sounds like it could be, like others have said, a cathedral hymn. Also Benny's synths produce an energetic frenzy. The song moves.

The church of ABBA grants all humanity absolution.

ABBA will still be relevant in 100 years 🙂
I didn't really get in to ABBA until just recently (I knew about them from Dancing Queen, but that was about it) because my high school is doing a production of Mamma Mia. But now, they are hands down one of my favorite bands. I auditioned for Sky, and even tho I didn't get the part (I made it into the ensemble group), this song is what got me into ABBA's music in the first place and it's still one of my favorites. Their music is timeless and I love watching people's reactions.
This masterpiece is so good that they play another song over the end at it works.
Probably my favorite Abba song ever.
This song was loved by my parents. But now it was on the radio while I was in car and well, csnnot get it out of my head. Perfect progression in this song.
This song gives me world war 2 victory vibes when the chorus comes up
That's why abba was so popular in the 70s they had so many addictive good disco music
Been an ABBA fan for 40+ years, if all their incredible hits, this is among my favs!!! Thank you!!! Yes, they are amazing and phenom!!! I have listened and analyzed their arrangements for years... incredible, genius!!!
Now try to picture all the dance floors across the world in the early 80s with this song

This song, Disco Inferno by The Trammps and the extended version of Upside Down by Diana Ross were always played in the discos I went to in Atlanta. I would go to the gay clubs with a gay friend of mine because they played the best dance music - plus he was the only guy I knew that could really dance. 😉 I was trained as a dancer and 9 out of 10 straight guys did not know how to dance. 🙄 Everybody would swarm the dance floor the instant Lay All Your Love on Me came on. It's my absolute favorite ABBA song.
This has become my go to ABBA song when I dj and the respons is HUGE! Instant singalong!
Don’t think i have seen you smile as much as this, Lay All Your Love On Me is, imo, their greatest song
Had this 12” back in the day wore that bad boy out. Sonic perfection.
,Abba had the finest session musicians. Ola Brunkert on the drums is incredible. RIP Ola.
Dude...this is sooo cool how you (being as young as you are) take the time to listen to these tunes...and give you're positive feedback. I don't know how old you are...but I was 23 yrs old when I first heard this ABBA dance track. It was around October of 1980...but it wasn't until February & March of 81..when people would cheer, roar & quickly run to the dance floor as soon as the intro of this track came on. It made it to #1on many charts...including Billboard Magazine's Disco chart. The really strange part was that this song wasn't meant to be released as a single. I guess that's why there is no actual video to this song. Bjorn & Benny should reconsider releasing a new video to celebrate 40 yr anniversary! Yikes!!! ..... I cannot believe it will be 40 yrs old towards the end of this year. To date...still my ABBA favorite. Thanks for posting your video.🎼👍

Yes, Björn and Benny was inspired buy swedish folk music and traditional hymns. It has a bit of swedish , typical church hymn in it.
This was actually in reality a Number One Single for ABBA. It was released at the time only as a ‘Limited’ 12” Single back in the Summer of 1981. I was helping a friend out at a Record Store at the time, and we couldn’t get enough copies of this because it was ‘Limited’. I understood at the time that this was the same situation across the country, and so had we been able to supply by the demand we were receiving, there is no doubt in my mind that this would have given ABBA yet another Chart Topper in the UK making it ten instead of the nine they had. As it was, it peaked at Number 7 before rapidly falling away from the Chart because of the sheer lack of supply only... As nice as it was to give a ‘Limited’ Edition for their fans and Collectors, I really couldn’t understand why they did not release this as a proper Single... I guess it just goes to show, unlike many other Bands, they weren’t out just to make money!

And another all time favourite. They were so ahead of their time..... Talk of combining somewhat sad/melancholic/longing lyrics and melody into on of the best dance tracks ever! in 1981!
Your smile says it all - ABBA simply makes people happy. Even the sadder songs are somehow uplifting...
First time I heard this song was actually in 1992, when Erasure made ABBA Esque (with 3 other ABBA cover songs). Only after I heard the ABBA version . There wasn't KZread then, I had to buy the CD. You should listen to the Erasure electronic cover, but, of course, the original ABBA is the best version.
It is by far one of their best tunes.

Of course being an ABBA fan since 1974, that track was a stand out on their "Super Trouper" lp in 1980. I have so many favorites its hard to pick! But, being in the clubs when this came out, this is my absolutely favorite to THIS DAY! I still listen to it, its bittersweet as the song has such an unbeatable awesome tempo, the words somehow make me sad. It was a time in my life when I was really "looking for love", and so the words are powerfully strong for me. But, I can say one thing, I would put this song to the test against ANY of the club songs today. It's simply timeless. Also, I remember just getting truly "Lost" in the music as it pumped through the speakers. (especially the chorus, which sounds like a huge choir). I later learned that the brilliant Bjorn ran their chorus back through I think a Vocoder? and it created this magnificent sound! ABBA is to be praised for their instrumentation technology which was light years ahead!!!! ABBA 4EVER~WELCOME BACK ~
It's definitely one of their best songs. I still love it after all these years (got to it in the early 90s through a band called Erasure; they covered 4 legendary Abba songs back then).
Yes ....."ABBA" Gold. I have this on 12"inch.... their only 12"inch release..... You can only get this from my death grip at your own peril☠️ Long Live ABBA ❤❤❤
The extended “club” version is really awesome too! The middle portion of the extended version has a fierce synth drum break repeated over and over like it’s looping back onto itself and then bang it goes back into the frantic full on synth banger of a song. Was quite a departure from the output of ABBA up to that point. Still holds up today and still sounds fresh. I LOVED your reaction when listening to this epic track. I feel the same way everytime I listen to it.
