I remember watching this video 3 years ago and it made me fall in love with the Abarth 124 at that time I never had a drivers license but I knew one day I’d own that car. Now I’m 2020 I have just bought a midnight blue Abarth 124 spider. For the 2 weeks prior to picking it up I watched this video non stop to get me excited for it. I just want to say thanks 🙏

Amalfi coast was one of my favourite places in the world to be. Drove down from Rome in a Fiat 500 Abarth all the way through Salerno to Praiano where we were staying for our honeymoon. Magical place, and the road was nicely empty for some fun driving.

Something you can consider is to show us your trip on Google map, because some of the roads you are driving are just stunning (and not to forget some of your Hotels you are staying at). I will definitely pay the Casa Angelina a visit.

Hi Sam. Just a small idea for your vlog, when you are driving these twisty Italian roads and have the camera facing you whilst you're talking about something, you should include a small square in one of the corners of the screen with a road facing camera. That would be amazing. Thanks.

The 124 Spyder being an MX-5 is the best thing about it. Having MX-5 DNA on the Spyder is what's giving the 124 street creed.

Automotive Mike Roads Untraveled reviewed a 124 with upgraded turbo, same owner as the absolutely mental 500 Abarth, and the boost in boost really brought it to life. Having a manual didn't hurt either.

Great video, love the Almafi coast, so many childhood memories. That shot of the classic Riva is awesome, maybe you could do a video with one? Maybe if not when you are in the South then at Portofino on the way to Monaco, or I remeber seeing a few on Lago Majore when I was a child (nearish Milan).

Oh thanks for the unintentional plug at 2:22 😂 I drove the Abarth 124 Spider earlier this year (manual) and I really enjoyed it. It was only a short drive, but I actually fell in love with it. Could I spend like £30,000 on one though? Erm, no.

I,ve had loads of Abarths, You name it Ive probably had it. My fav was a 131 i had. For the money id be more then happy to drive about in this, although id get the power up and upgrade a few things. Ive had many Porsches and Ferraris but my best remembered times in cars was when i was tearing around in my twin cam fiats and lancias when i was younger.

Really fun video. I hope the Abarth folks show you more respect next time since you gave a very fair assessment of the car. (At least wash it next time, Abarth).

Not a bad thing that the 124 Abarth is based off a Miata - the new ones are gorgeous!

The roof systems has come on a very long way since the Elise S1

124 Spider is like the italian version of the MX5. I'd choose either way.

Great entertainment, and very natural. Btw - Carrs Ferrari Exeter have your ideal 360 (I am not an employee, just a fan of the brand).

Sam, great footage, what colour spec do you recommend for the 124?

If you have the time you could put links to the hotels, airbnb's etc... you stay at in the description. That last place, Casa Anglica? looked amazing!

That exhaust note on the Abarth gives it a different personality to a MX5

Every video I watch from this channel (on the phone app) forces a 30 second ad at the start. I don't see that it any other car channels

How does the automatic Abarth 124 compare to the manual?

Why is it better with an automatic for cruising? You can cruise just as good in a manual?

If you think 39 degrees C is bad when I went the Modena 3 years ago it's was 40 to 50 degrees C the whole time and the locals all came out at night and even then it was 30 + degrees C

motor way cruising in a manual car is great just being able to snap it into a lower gear and flogging it a bit on demand is somuch more enjoyable then the automatic.

What's the autobox like on the Abarth? The shifts sounded quite quick.

mrjdgibbs Seems like that's the direction that all manufactures are going now anyway. I see it as a step backwards but I imagine it's got something to do with saving weight. Although I've heard rumours regarding a Triple Clutch Gearbox being developed.

I've watched about a grand total of 20 reviews on this car and everyone that has reviewed the autos has said that it's pretty quick. It also has a rev-matching down shifts and is a little bit quicker to 60 MPH then the manual :-)
