Abarth 500e review - the noisy EV

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Abarth has made the loudest EV since, well, ever. But is it good noise, or just political? We drive Italy's tiny electric terrier to find out whether its voice is more than just a gimmick, and if it can be classified as anything close to a real hot hatchback...

£38k...What are they smoking over there at Stellantis?!? They should make a version without the silly noises and sell it at a more realistic price.

They’re smoking something really potent, it’s ridiculous the ICE Abarth 500 couldn’t live on when less fuel efficient Stellantis vehicles will.

Nice car, but as always with EV's very limited market appeal due to high cost

Just to point out that you can shut the noise off only by imobilizing the car - don't need to put in Park. Just stop the car - you can put the menu ready to go and then when you stop on a STOP sign, simply tick the box. Not great, but works.

i had a chance to drive pas one in France last week from the entry of a toll on the south motorway. I was very disappointed I was with my 595 Comp so we both started flat out at the exit of the toll yep the EV get me on the first 50m then the comp was faster and then I left him back past 150 because it cannot handle more than 155 km/h so what is the point of having something slower than comp on all points ? :( I like the design and interior but it is not an abarth anymore it is a e500 sport

Mmm easy decision NO would go for a low miles Competizione at half price or less and its authentic in its driving experience

Keep convincing yourself if you must, but EVs are an environmental disaster... are falling like a stone in value and getting much more costly to insure...

@@raftonpounder6696 Not everyone derives their enjoyment of a sports car solely from the speed or the luxury. In fact some (now) slow sports cars from days past are sometimes preferred over the jaw dropping acceleration of an EV (or even faster ICE automobiles) and their market value reflects that. The smell of gasoline, a high revving engine, a great feeling manual shifter, mind reading steering, the sound of the exhaust, hydraulic steering that communicates road conditions, all gone in EVs. People miss the vroom vroom so much that car makers are pumping fake noise into electric cars, and the batteries always mean additional weight that doesn't feel good on a twisty road. The feel of driving can be so important, people can seek completely analog cars. Car enthusiasts have likened newer computer assisted vehicles to driving in a video game.

Is that why the F-150EV like so many others is NOT selling, if they were so great they should sell themselves, that's how you up the bar. Making them better, these are not better. Get then wet with a little salt water and they will self consume, just one example. Battery's don't last but a few years. EV's are now just consumables one disposes of after use..@@MaticTheProto
