Abaqus model to predict the residual stress in Welding (or additive manufacturing) process.
In this video, you will learn how to create a simple welding model to predict the residual stress in part. This model can be used for the additive manufacturing process as well. For modelling this process we need to create a thermal mode at first. For adding material we use the element birth technique by using Python code. The video is short so you can learn this in less than 15 minutes and you will have the output and Abaqus CAE file.

I am working on numerical simulation of pressure wave on metal target. the pressure wave duration is 120 ns. simulation ran for 1E-5 Sec, i was trying to analyze residual stresses, but the stress value i got different for each frame (Every time increment), i thing its due to inertia effect, can you help me to understand its physics?

I flow your example every step but I got the error which said "ELEMENT 321,... INSTANCE TESTP1-1 CANNOT BE ADDED USING *MODEL CHANGE BECAUSE IT IS NOT CURRENTLY REMOVED." I applied on my on 3d model. The difference is I made sets on the mesh not as the coordinate in the regions. Could you help me to find the problem? thank you in advannce,
